I actually though it ruined his set. That was the second time I have seen him and it was a lot better without him. Boys Noize, Shadow Dancer, Erol Alkan, and D.I.M. were all really really good, I just can't believe how many people left when Boys Noize played! Also, I was pleasantly surprised with the outdoor dubstep stage, it made me a lot more excited for the dome.

Shit was DOPE! Diplo was cool, Erol Alkan MURDERED IT!!!!!! Boys Noize was alright got a little to techn style for me toward the middle but whatever. All together it was a bad ass night and i am glad they had the wack stage outside so people weren't all insdoors and made a lot of room for me.

Erol was actually my favorite of the night.

Destructo was pretty bad, as expected. Shadowdancer had a few good moments but overall meh. L.A. Riots was downright awful. It sounded like he was playing three songs at once for his entire set. D.I.M. and Erol Alkan were sick, both had pretty consistently great sets.

Diplo killed everything. Lil Jon was a surprising addition but not NEARLY as bad as I thought it'd be, if anything he excited the crowd and got everybody into it even more. This is the kind of thing where if it had been billed I probably wouldn't have gone, but it completely worked. Diplo's song selection simply bests every other DJ out there, it was an effortlessly consistent flow of dance and party music, he throws the techno in too but really it adds up to so much more. Without a doubt the best set and highlight of the night.

Boys Noize... his set at Coachella is a 9.9 and his set at Hard 13 is a 4.2, four of those points are for & Down alone. I was digging the new song he opened with but it was all downhill after & Down. Overall disappointed with and expected better from him.

Last night was so much fun!!! THANK you anti-square for the free ticket, you allowed me to spread my wings and dance my ass off for hours. Believe me I WORKED it. HARD was such a successful board meet-up...(Allyjoy, Headstruck, MikeyMatador, Locachica, Calmer, Barb, PC2-Violence, Leo, Trancehiphop, Mattpach, Sonic, Vince...sorry if I forgot someone) we all were able to keep our spot at the middle left, and finding everyone was so easy since it was in one room. Drinks were flowing and THANK YOU everyone who bought me one because I ran out of cash. You are so kind :) Passed out some Candee, and brought my little bubbles which I kept blowing into the dance circles. Music was a blast, we even got some skeet skeet. Met some crazy people and bumped into some friends as well. Leave it to the Coachella junkies to always come through at the shows and have a good time! I love you all.

p.s. Calmer you were such a wild dance partner! I had to bust out some extra special moves to keep up with you.

Erol Alkan's set was ill but I felt it was cut short. But I'm not complaining cause Diplo rocked the house. Lil Jon coming out was cool but nothing special. I was excited for all the hip hop played during diplo. Seeing a bunch of ravers and hipsters dancing to Soula Boy "Turn my swag on" remix and Yung Joc "It's Going Down" was my highlight of the night. I liked LA Riots set more than DIM but both of them were lack luster. And HARD needs to get whoever did the visuals for Summer (V2 I believe) to do them again cause these visuals suck they just had the artists name and pics of the crowd and one dude sucking this poor girls neck off.

I went to the Summer Fest and it was mostly hipsters who were surprisingly less annoying. Hard has changed for worse, but I'll wait for the Summer fest lineup.

well that first impression sucked! I was definately not at all there the whole night. I have never been that intoxicated before in my entire life. I tend to do that whenever I am EXTREMELY hyped for a concert. I mean I bought that ticket to see boys noize about 4 months in advance, and only to be SPENT by the time boys noize came on :( I need to surely learn how to pace myself. Give me a break though, I mean the first real concert I can remember going to was Bonnaroo this past year, so I am still a rookie, making rookie mistakes. It was awesome meeting you guys on friday night. Sadly I don't remember half of your names due to reasons I can not explain. I do however remember Headstruck, feather, allyjoy, barb and mickey. Was I just tripping or at one point was Barb doing a ballet dance? I dunno but for some reason at that moment I thought I was front row to a broadway musical. That girl can dance! Another highlight was when Mike FINALLY convinced me to smoke after telling me too after like 5mins of convincing (you should be in advertising) and it was an unbeatable combo! Everyone else is just a blur (no offense) It was nice getting to know leo and his friend last night while at SMD show last night. And Leo if you do that again to me, we're not going to be able to hangout again! LOL! You scared the living shit outta me! Haha, I kid, but it was a fun night not to mention I was able to get a hold of one of those rare posters they made last night!!!

First off, hi, I'm new here. I went to HARD 13 and had an awesome time and do remember seeing the cat girl over on the left middle.

I have a question for everyone regarding this show and sets in general, but does the performance order affect the DJ's performance? Like I thought LA Riots performed some weaker, slower songs almost like a warmup act. But then again, the place was like half full when he played. I thought Erol's set was amazing, probably the most energetic and musical of the night, made the place bananas, and definitely rolled over in to Diplo well. The one track he looped and squeezed into a punk guitar sound was probably my favorite part of the night. I'd never heard that before and didn't even think it could be done. It was like a mosh pit/electronic feverish sound.

I am a big fan of Diplo and agree with other folks that his song selection is amazing (he plays like 3, 4, 5 songs at once) his skills: he was beat juggling for gods sake! mashup style with lots of hip hop and rock, feel for audience: (he really knew this audience's taste and was very different from sets at Coachella, the Echo, or SD Street Scene). I can see why folks don't like him because he is so untraditional in EDM, but that's why I do like him. And since I am into hip hop and wierd surprises, Lil Jon was cool with me, he played the hype man role well and you must admit he has a great or at least unique voice.

Boyz Noise came with crazy hard beats and had some great grungy sounds, but it did get repetitive.

But my question is this: Did he have to come that hard since it was the end of the night ? Like the closer feels that they have to top the other acts with just sheer force and less nuance?

Welcome to the boards, glad you enjoyed the HARD/Nitrus party. They always seem to put on spectacular events. I attended Hard Summer last year and Hard Halloween, both were great and I'd love to attend another party of there's in the future. In regards to Boys Noize, I really don't think he thinks he's expected to out do or perform other dj's billed lower than him. Everyone is getting there own different and personal experience from all the DJ's, so to each his own, I think.

Erol was amazing but Lil Jon ruined Diplo's set. Also the headlining act should be better than the rest. Boys Noize set, although good, was too slow IMO and kind of a let down. I was expecting more out of Noize although I have to say I enjoyed pieces of it. You don't want a weak act playing at 3 am. You want a strong act to keep the place energized.
