Also... I just started reading through this thread. Lol at the people who thought there was no reason to watch after Season 3 because you know they get off the island. As far as I am concerned... Season 4 is really when the show picked up.

Ok, some questions I have before I watch The End...

How does Desmond know who to recruit? There must have been hundreds of passengers on that flight. But somehow he knows he has to get Locke, Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sawyer, Hurley, Charlie (am I missing anyone else) together or to see "something." How does he know this?

I am confused on the timeline of Jacob and the Man in Black. The first time we actually meet both of them, they are sitting on the beach looking at the Black Rock. The Man in Black says he wants to kill Jacob. Is this before or after Jacob turns him into the smoke monster? Because after Jacob turns him into the smoke monster, his body is physically dead. We know this because his skeleton is found in the caves. (Which finding out was AWESOME by the way). I am pretty sure all the times we have seen Jacob and The Man in Black together before "Across The Sea" was after Jacob turned him into the smoke monster, but I just want to be clear.

Why exactly can't the smoke monster leave the island? Once all the Candidates and Desmond are dead... how does he plan on leaving? How is Jacob keeping him on the island? And why doesn't Jacob want him to leave? If he does leave the island... it will be safe, won't it? Or if the Man in Black some metaphor for evil, and if he leaves the island, evil will be unleashed on the rest of the world "across the sea?"

How is Jack supposed to protect the island? Is he not going to age, just like Jacob? Also, how does Jacob not age? How was he able to grant the power of not aging to Richard? Speaking of Richard... is he dead? I hope not. Speaking of dead... what about Lapidas? Is he dead too? I am still hoping he somehow found a way off the sub.

Lets just say Jack does stay to protect the island, how are Hurley, Sawyer and Kate going to get off the island?

Also, why is Ben bent on killing for the smoke monster? Ben has nothing to gain by following him.

And what is this about Desmond surviving electromagnetic stuff... how is he going to save the island? (I do love that Desmond is back to being a main character again though. I missed him.)

SO MANY QUESTIONS!

EDIT: Also, if anyone wants to answer any of these questions WITHOUT spoiling what happens in the final episode, please do share. Perhaps some of these questions are oversights for me, questions that have been answered and I have just missed them. If that is the case, please do share.

digitaldragon03

I'll just say that answering some of the those questions will spoil The End. Also, the less those questions matter to you, the more you will enjoy the episode.

rage patton
09-06-2010, 01:04 PM
I figured as much. And as many questions as I do have... I am not expecting many to be answered. Like, for example, how does Desmond know exactly who to get? I was thinking that may have been one of my oversights. Oh well.

I am so tempted to watch the episode right now... but I want to give myself some more time.

tessalasset
09-06-2010, 09:18 PM
No that question is definitely answered next episode.

As for the MIB/Jacob timeline... I never really thought about that. Cause he definitely turned him into the smoke monster back when MIB killed mother, which was back in sort of ancient times, right? With their real mother speaking Latin and all? The black rock was around the 1800s with Alpert, right? I think we're just supposed to assume that once a body is dead, the black smoke can inhabit it, a la Locke and Christian Shepherd.

I'm so excited to hear what you think and talk about it with you.

Most of the questions you're asking can't be answered without spoiling everything, Rage. But I'll kind of answer one. Because this questions was talked about at length by all of us leading up to The End.

Why exactly can't the smoke monster leave the island? Once all the Candidates and Desmond are dead... how does he plan on leaving? How is Jacob keeping him on the island?

Think about the game that MIB and Jacob play. Think about who made the game. The rules. The way MIB plans on leaving the island will be obvious.

I worked last night, so I couldn't watch it. Due to other circumstances, I can't watch it tonight either. ARGH! I was stoked for it all day too. I will have to watch it tomorrow night.

And The, today on my bus ride to class, I was thinking and I thought about the game and the boy in black's comment "One day you will find a game and be able to make up your own rules too." Or something like that anyways. That is why I figure the smoke monster can't leave the island.

Wait. I think I am no loger confused. The flash sideways... it takes place after they are all dead. The bomb exploded... but it didn't create some alternate reality. As Christian said "This is the place you all created to be with the ones you love." It just took everyone some time to "remember" what happened.

As for Ben, my reasoning he didn't want to go into the church, is because he wants to show Danielle and Alex, and have them "remember" as well.

I haven't read any of the discussion on this, and I don't want to yet. What I want to know... is this what you all got out of the finale too?

After the show I was thinking really hard about how to explain what happened. Then I got sidetracked and completely stopped thinking about it. Then, all of a sudden, it just occured to me. It made sense. It was truely a beautiful way to end the show.

Where do I watch the epilogue? I heard it was pulled from youtube. Is it one of the special features on the DVD?

Ha, the epilogue was pretty cool. It explains where the food was coming from, and what room 23 was. Bringing Walt back was interesting too.

I was thinking though... where at the end in the "sideways" world was Miles? Lapidas? Richard? Faraday? Charlotte?

Pretty much nailed it, the bomb thing is still debatable though. There's never really any evidence that it went off, and the island seems no worse for the wear. Also it seems everything played out the same way anyway, so it stands to reason that what we thought was the explosion was probably just the same "electro-magnetic incident" that always happened. Thus Jacob's red herring.

Glad to hear you liked it, there are still a lot of folks with grouchy little pee-pants about the finale.

I have this Josh Hollway-signed shirt that Sawyer wore on a bunch of Lost episodes, among other various items that the actors have given me. So I just rewatched Pilot Part 1 and 2. Holy shit. What a fucking trip that was. It is so weird watching it all begin again after I know all the characters so well. It is also weird not to have Ben and Desmond in the picture yet. Also, I almost broke down when I saw Sun and Jin together. Has anyone watched the whole series through again yet? Does all the Sun and Jin stuff kill just as much the second time as the first?

I am not going to power through the show like I did last time though. I am going to take my time. I just had some spare time and thought it would be fun to watch the beginning again. And it certainly was fun. And quite weird.

i just remembered. i had a lost dream last night. in the dream, the only way i could accomplish something (that i can't remember), was to sing good vibrations. but i couldn't remember how it went. so i had to imagine charlie in lost and all of a sudden i remembered. i woke myself up singing good vibrations.

I've begun re-watching the entire series. Once again, I've powered through Season 1 over the course of two days. It's good to know that LOST is still just as addicting.

I noticed one new thing. When Jack is chasing his Dad, Christian appears with a short Smoke Monster sound effect.

Pretty sure the writers knew Smokie or at least something would be taking the form of people who either died on the Island or whose bodies ended up on the Island. For instance, before killing Mr. Echo, Smokie takes the form of Mr. Echo's brother. Also, when young Ben tells Richard that he saw his Mother on the Island, Richard asks if Ben's Mom died on the Island. I believe he asked this to determine whether it was the Island or Smokie delivering the message to Ben.

Alrighty, onto Season 4.

'Lost' actor marries 16-year-old girlfriend

It was a twist that even "Lost" fans probably didn't see coming.

Actor Doug Hutchison, 51, announced that he has married his 16-year-old girlfriend, Courtney Alexis Stodden.

According to a notice on his website, Hutchison has been enjoying wedded bliss with the aspiring country singer for a few weeks.

"Doug Anthony Hutchison and Courtney Alexis Stodden became husband and wife on Friday May 20th, 2011, at 12 p.m. in The Little Chapel of Flowers in Las Vegas, Nevada," the statement on his site says. "Mr. and Mrs. Hutchison live together happily ensconced in their Hollywood Hills home with their lil' pups, Everette and Tuna!"

Hutchison has appeared on various shows and films including "Lost," "The X Files" and "Green Mile." The newlyweds released a statement to E! in light of what is sure to be a few raised eyebrows over their 35-year age difference.

"We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial," the statement said. "But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."

Congrats on your wedding wish I were as lucky at love. My mom was 18 and my father 53 and they had 5 children. Age doesn't matter my mom said she loved him. I agree with you. My grandmother was like the coal miners daughter, Lynn Anderson married at 13 . Age is something we arbitrarily apply to society and it's different in other cultures. I'm 53 married to a 55 year old, but wish I had met you before your current and been chosen. I get a lot of attention from older women in their 70 s and 80's too and I love it at least someone still thinks I'm sexy. Again congrats and you are an image of physical perfection like a Goddess.
