Jin is totally coming back the show. That is the only possible explanation as to why he is hanging out around my neighborhood. Hopefully he is alive and they're not just filming tons of flashbacks or something.

Everybody better get their asses back to the island quickly because the post-island stuff is depressing.

Blinken

I believe the creators said he was 100% dead, so it is probably flashbacks. I hope I am wrong though.

i need that cited cause i really don't believe that. unless they show the dude dying, or show him in a coffin being buried, he ain't dead. that's how the lost writers roll. the whole thing was just sketchy. the after-effects i mean. not the actual freighter blowing up. sun and hurley were just so vague about the whole thing. something about the actual dialogue made me suspicious.

and can i say how much i hate the recaps? having to spell out every fucking thing that happens and why it's happening? ugh. it's sad that lost writers have to write for the casual fan. i wish everyone was as hardcore as we are and didn't need reminders.

locachica73
01-15-2009, 07:47 AM
Sometimes the reminders are cool though, there tends to always be stuff I missed initially. Like last night I learned that the guy that does all the Dharma videos uses a different name in each video. I never picked up on that for some reason. And I have been a fan since the beginning and have rewatched the episodes.

I LOVE the Sci-Fi Channel reruns of Lost! Its so great to watch 3-4 hours of Lost in one night.

I just got to see one of MANY of my fav moments again.......
Hurley and Ben sitting on the log outside of the cabin sharing a candy bar (while Locke is inside finding out about moving the island from Claire and Christian) so cute!!

season 4 episode 11 (i think)

Yes you do, luckily you can catch up on either sci fi channel, abc has been playing reruns in the middle of the night and if that doesn't work for you they stream all episodes at abc.com. Watch out though, it's an addiction.

ana lucia coming back is total horseshit. she was a worthless character whose only purpose was to show how animalistic the losties had become. danielle on the other hand would be awesome, i want some backstory from her, though i know we'll probably never get it. i'm still hoping the season will open with christian waking up in the coffin during the crash, lol.

i re-watched everything recently. randy and i watched seasons 1 and 2 over NYE weekend, then the rest online and i finally caught up saturday. i'm glad i did, christ, i forgot about all the numbers drama and the whole emergency surgery stuff. and the online abc video has improved IMMENSELY.

apostle, not young blood, you watched the season 4 extras? did you watch the conspiracy theory video or whatever, how was it? i really want to watch that.

questions i really want answers to:

four toes?!
island moving?!
time travel?!
who are the hostiles?!
what is the smoke monster?!
why does aaron look like he has down syndrome?!
what the fuck happened to locke?!

i'm excited for tonight, can't wait until 6 when my girls come over :)

Young blood
01-21-2009, 10:46 AM
Good to have you back Ivy. I didnt see the extras. All your questions will be answered by the middle of this season from what I hear. They are going to finally clear everything up, probably just to create new questions to keep us on edge.

Im so PUMPED! for this season.

chairmenmeow47
01-21-2009, 11:11 AM
ok, the new colours are confusing me, i meant apostle and not young blood. apostle, or anyone else really, did you watch the conspiracy video? how was it?

new questions are fine; i just hate how much is left open, it's hard to figure out where the show will go from here as they only have two seasons to wrap everything up. it's weird how season 3 has like 22 episodes, but season 4 only had 14. i know we won't get answers to everything once it's over, and i like that. they do a pretty good job of keeping things within the perspective of the losties and the others. i hope that continues.

i hope everyone has wonderful lost festivities tonight :)

ok, wait a minute, this stuck with me. this is the REAL mystery. fuck the toes, fuck the time travel, what the fuck is a fashion incubator? does it nurse shitty fashion back to good health? say, you put in a pair of plaid 70s coolats and they come out after months of care as a snazzy pair of peddle pushers?

Courtney
01-21-2009, 12:14 PM
Haha. It's just an event that nourishes local, underground fashion and emerging labels by giving them exposure. In most cases we get together and drink and look at pretty women wearing weird outfits. There is often lots of plaid involved.

Kate Austen...is LYING! The conspiracy feature is great. It lays out all the information on the Oceanic 6 story in an interesting way, and is also pretty damn funny at parts, it's a solid discovery channel satire. The bonus features for season 4 are probably my favorite from any of the DVD sets, they've gotten really creative with the ways they chose to share added information. Plus, the flash forwards in order are really cool.

i figured it was made for all the boyfriends & such who are being forced to watch; it was very high-level. i'm really glad i re-watched recently. everything tied together much nicer tonight. don't forget you can watch at abc.com; it's actually a pretty good player.

hurley throwing the hot pocket at ben was my favourite moment. i loved when that steve buscemi look-alike was being a whiny little bitch and then he got hit with the fiery arrow. and the fucking matrix lady working with ben!!!!!! YES!!!!!!

the dharma video filming at the beginning was cool. they really did a nice job of piecing thing together, for now. i'm starting to want to know more about alpert. the whole thing with desmond and faraday was a bit weird though. and charlotte.

and oh my god, daniel's only wish was for desmond to find his mom, and his mom is working for freaking ben???? did daniel know this?? is his mom only working with ben so that she can get daniel back? or is she really on team ben for everything?

i personally think claire's mom might be soliciting the drug test. it might be widmore, but sun made a good point. if it were widmore or someone like that, they wouldn't have to send the 7th heaven dad to just ASK for a sample without any sort of warrant or anything. it seems like whoever is asking for the sample is doing it for something personal and isn't a big cheese or anything like that.

As in last nights episode or overall since he was a kid?

I think thats why the station was built to push the button every 108 seconds....you see the losties skipping in time, that button kept them or the dharma group grounded in time.

Also seeing faraday back in time walking past Dr. Candle was fucking awesome. I think dr candle losing his arm will be a direct result of faraday trying to move the island.

1) I don't think that lady at the end is Daniel's mom. I think she's Charlotte's mom. Probably just the british accent, but it would explain why she is working with Ben. Charlotte is from the island and it appears that this lady is as well.

2) I'm pretty sure Ben and crew ordered the drug test. He knew it would freak Kate out and force her to leave the little coocoon she had created for herself. He knows that she may freak out enough to want to go back to the island to hide there.

the show opened with an alarm clock switching to 815 and waking up a man and his wife. the man goes to tend to a baby and turns on a record. it skips. he then goes in to film a dharma video and it's the guy from the videos we recognize (i thought it was hanso, but young blood is calling him dr. candle). i believe the video was for the arrow; however he's wearing a swan station jacket.

the video shoot is interrupted by a dharma dude saying there's some shit going down at the orchid. the dr. goes to the orchid and there's a guy on the ground bleeding out of his nose kinda like desmond. when heís walking into the orchid, faraday is in a workmanís suit and bumps into the doctor. they are doing some sort of work on the wall on the other side of the frozen donkey wheel. the guy heading up the workers says that all the bits are melting against the wall. the doctor then tells them to be careful and the station HAS to be there due to the limitless energy of the area.

i donít have time for highlights 

The lady from the end met Desmond on a park bench in an episode a few seasons back.

Her name is Ms. Hawking. She tries to explain to Desmond that he can't ask Penny to marry him and that time has a built in course correcting mechanism. Faraday explains the same thing which leads us to believe that she is his mother.

Jennie brought up something interesting last night - when Richard Alpert hands Locke the compass, is that not the same compass he put on the table amongst other objects for young John Locke to pick? Is that what he was supposed to pick?

ivy, we've seen a picture or two of Alvar Hanso. He's an old white man with white hair. And he's blurry.

i812many - good call about Charlotte's constant. maybe that IS charlotte's mom, and maybe her mom is her constant? But doesn't that still mean that charlotte would have to get in touch with her personally?

I like how Locke found the Mary Statues and airplane. If I am not mistaken he knew that Charlie had the drugs way back in the 1st season correct? Or did he find the drugs?
that was one of my favorite parts of the episode. locke definitely knew about charlie, knew there was heroin in the statues, knew everything. he was the first one to find the decrepit plane, so getting to see him watch it crash in the first place was awesome. he knew exactly what that plane was and who was inside. that was his "what the fuck??" moment where he knew some time traveling shit was going on.

I think thats why the station was built to push the button every 108 seconds....you see the losties skipping in time, that button kept them or the dharma group grounded in time.

If that were the case, then why didn't the time-skipping occur after the hatch exploded? No hatch = no button being pushed every 108 seconds for the past couple of seasons, but it wasn't till Ben moved the island that they became ungrounded in time.

1) I don't think that lady at the end is Daniel's mom. I think she's Charlotte's mom. Probably just the british accent, but it would explain why she is working with Ben. Charlotte is from the island and it appears that this lady is as well.

Charlotte's from the island? What makes you say that? Is there anything in the show to have supported that or are you just speculating?

i812many - good call about Charlotte's constant. maybe that IS charlotte's mom, and maybe her mom is her constant? But doesn't that still mean that charlotte would have to get in touch with her personally?

Wait a sec, Charlotte is Desmond's love, right? Do you mean that obnoxious archaeologist that Faraday has a crush on, or did I miss something about Charlotte requiring a constant?

I feel like the only reasonable reaction to Ben is throwing a hot pocket at his face. Go Hurley!

I've stopped watching this in the "trying to figure it out" capacity. Luckily there are still a bunch of characters left that I like (I even still like Sayid even though he's a mindless Ben lackey. Hopefully he'll get his bearings back). Ben is one of my favorite villains ever, and Ben and Hurley together makes for oddly hilarious scenes (hot pocket, candy bar sharing).

Of course, some people have just gotten insufferable. Kate? Jeez. Flightier and more aggravating than ever. I wish there were a few episodes without her in it so I can get a break. Jack's not much better.

Desmonds love is penny. Yes, the archeologist is Charlotte. She is suffering from the same side effects that Daniel was until he used Des as his constant so I'm assuming she needs one also.
I'd like to know why on certain people have time travel side effects. So far it's only been Des, Charlotte, they guy on the boat, Faraday and presumably the guy that was drilling. Why doesnt Sawyer or the rest of the people that were on the plane have them?

They left us hanging by making Daniel skip time before he got the name out. I'm assuming that Daniel has a thing for Charlotte and wants to try and save her by any means. The previews make it seem like Des does not make it to Oxford in time bc Charlotte was in Daniels arms all bloody and rough looking but I guess we'll have to wait to find out...eventually, possibly, maybe...

sawyer's foot in 64" high def was highly unnecessary. the knives in the dishwasher with the blade up is totally something my roommates would do. they have zero concept of how to load a dishwasher. the second they showed the blades we had to look away cause you just KNEW someone was going to fall on it. awesome shot of the dude just laying there impaled on the dishwasher.

it's weird how season 3 has like 22 episodes, but season 4 only had 14.

nah, there were originally supposed to be 5 seasons, but they decided to split the last two 24 episode seasons into 3 16 episode seasons instead. People had always complained about the hiatus they took, or randomly putting on repeats, so that was the solution to prevent hiatus but also extend out the show. after last night, 30 episodes left...

at first i assumed the constant had all the penny/desmond stuff, but BobCaygeon is right, it was earlier.

i like the theory that it was rousseau's crew. and i totally agree that this season seems awesome so far. i'm really curious if walt is going to have to go back with them and what his role is in all this is going to be. i also hope he's a strong enough teen/adult actor to carry out whatever his role will be. perhaps he will ultimately lead the others in the end or something.

and i'm not sure if we should be rooting for ben or widmore or neither. it seems like sun may be working for widmore merely out of revenge; however perhaps widmore does have some rightful claim to the island.

i'd also really like more information on what happens to "dead" people and how people and animals randomly end up on the island. are the dead people dead? are the dead people actually there or just in the viewers mind? same with the people and animals that randomly end up on the island, are they actually there or just some sort of smokescreen the island uses to manipulate people? we need more answers on that.

lastly, i'm glad to see vincent is still around :)

Well I think it did to an extent. The energy was just far less than the amount Ben released. I am thinking the Island exisited in it's own private corner of the space time continum. And when desmond forgot to press it the first time it briefly opened a window to let the plane and survivors in.

Later on when they destroyed the hatch and desmond turned the key he released the energy that had been collected at that station. This moved the island onto the normal plane of space time. just one quick hop across time. Desomnd received a large dose of this energy and I think it is what makes him "special" remember he could see the future and know how Charlie was going to die. He changed this future multiple times but the universe kept self correcting and trying to kill Charlie. By keeping Charlie alive Desmond changed the future, if he had died before turning on the radio station then they wouldn't have been warned about the frigate.

Remember Desmond ended up in the future in the middle of the forest and so did locke they had no idea how they got there. This is the same thing that happened with Ben only he traveled much farther in both space and time. he ended up in the future seeing Sayid's wife die when he got to Tunasia. I think the difference in energy can also be seen by how they released it. Desmond just turned a key while Ben had a massive wheel to turn.

This is getting really good :)

I agree with this completely. I am seriously geeking out about the possibilities with the time-shift angle; rousseaus crew, the black rock, etc. Also I'm really curious to see how Alpert fits in, he seems to have been rallying around through time more than anyone, totally in the know, between the island and the mainland, and not aging. He seems to be pulling the strings more than Ben has.

And I'm sure Walt will be null just like Claire is this season, and then show up the last few episodes or something like that to tie it all up. Walt and Michael left by means of Ben, and did not escape. We already know Walt has some kind of special ability, but that could be special ability that only happens on the island. Even though he has done the "surprise! it me. I'm not dead" thingy just like Shepard and Claire have been doing to everyone else, I dont know if he is THAT much of an intrical part of it all. But then again, now that Michael is gone, will we start to see him appear to others in their dreams or hallucinations talking about walt? Perhaps Ben and his peeps may already have Walt since Michael is now dead? or maybe Widmore has him too?

ok ..... so is it just me or is anyone else getting a little leary of Richard? I cant trust that guy as far as i can throw him (or as far as i THINK i can throw him). I know he has such a soft , approachable personality and seems really friendly. i really do hope they include walt or else it won't make sense as to why the others took him and then traded him for ben and all that. also, he had special abilities prior to the crash as the adoptive father told michael that was one of the reasons he DIDN'T want the kid anymore. like when walt got angry about something, a bird hit the window and died. so i really hope they bring the story back to him in SOME way or a lot of the early stuff won't make as much sense to me.

Sorry for the repeat posting.

Shaved Ben this season looks so strange. Like if he hadn't been recruited to do LOST, he would have been scaring children on street corners.

Also - does anyone remember what item Locke picked? It wasn't the compass, right? What ability was Alpert checking there? Locke's ability to eventually time travel or see the future? The abilities are what have me thrown more than anything else. I feel like so much of it is coming together. Not to make this like Heroes, but here's an abilities run down to see if I (or anyone else) can come up with some correlation:

- Desmond's island given ability to see the future. It's what allows him to recognize the dream with Daniel as an alternate reality versus just a dream. He's allowed to leave the island.

- Walt's abilities. The Others and Dharma DID try to capture him. His abilities didn't seem to be island-dependent, but at some point, they were never mentioned again. He's allowed to freely leave the island.

- Miles' ability to talk to dead people. Pre-existing before the island. Still on the island.

- Alpert never ages. Is this an ability? Island given or is he dead? Immortal?

I just feel like this show is introducing the idea of special abilities with very little correlation to their origin or importance. I want to figure out what, if any, there is.

- Alpert never ages. Is this an ability? Island given or is he dead? Immortal?

I just feel like this show is introducing the idea of special abilities with very little correlation to their origin or importance. I want to figure out what, if any, there is.

Alpert went back to the young Locke to show him the several objects to see whether or not Locke's being "unstuck in time" (to borrow an apt phrase from Slaughterhouse Five) was presenting itself that early. Seems like the way things go, Lostians affected by the time shift can theoretically that either the Desmond route--in which the time jumps take them back and forth within their own timeline and own body but present-time mentality--or the physical reality timeshift sense like the people currently on the island.

There are certainly a lot of issues with the rhyme and reason of all this. Pot brings up a good point with issues like their material possesions and shit like the boat, for example. But then again, the extent of the time shift reaches out to a large scope around the space of the island like some kind of cone, so who the hell knows? The people on the little boat were within that cone when it happens so them and the boat and their clothes become unstuck too.

One thing I'm happy about in the way they're doing it is just ditching the whole concept of paradoxes completely. Fuck paradoxes--that aspect of time travel is played out. As much of a cheap fix as it seems, the notion of "you can't actually change time, you can only relive it" is refreshing.

keamy killed her in front of the other's houses while ben tried to bluff his way out of it. then ben killed keamy, which caused the boat to explode. now ben's off to do in penny too.

I thought the exact same thing about their concept of time travel. That eliminates any kind of 12 Monkeys shit happening on the show.

I'm fairly certain they won't kill off Juliet. Maybe Sawyer, though. It's just easier that way.

I was just using an example. I'm just saying we may find out who those bodies are . . . could be someone from the show instead of just dead bodies.

interesting theory, but if we ever find out who those people are, it definitely won't be something they thought of in the first season which will make it seemed forced.

and i wonder who shot the arrows at the losties and when exactly locke ran into ethan during his time skip.

Remember when the dharma initiative thought they were alone on the island but then began to have trouble with the "Hostiles"

Fire Arrows sound pretty Hostile to me . . .

could be them.

and those guys that wanted to chop off Juliets hand . . . they weren't in Dharma Uniforms. . .

- Desmond's island given ability to see the future. It's what allows him to recognize the dream with Daniel as an alternate reality versus just a dream. He's allowed to leave the island.

alternatre reality? what? I thought it was just the past.

awesome. just awesome.

so whatever happened to that chick with faraday is prolly happening to charlotte. and now we know why alpert was at locke's birth and why he went to visit him. all that seems less random now. when i first saw that episode with locke's birth, it seemed a bit far-fetched to be forcing all that into locke's past, but now it makes more sense.

and why can't anyone on lost ever just answer a damn question?! HOW OLD IS ALPERT YOU FUCKING DUCK LIPPED HO?!?!?! jesus, you know you're going to skip through time or get hit by arrows at any moment, so share information!!!!!!!!

it was. i loved when he said "i was out-numbered" and that chick gave him shit, awesome. i wonder what his "skill" is on the island and what he contributes and why he ultimately had to leave. he obviously doesn't have the present-day "others" type attitude and probably pissed off richard or jacob and was banished. or maybe he escaped the purge somehow.

how old is penny? i wonder if penny's mother ever lived on the island. if not, her age would give us a good guess as to when he left the island.

Jennifer has an interesting theory: that Faraday isn't in love with Charlotte but that he loves her 'cause he's...*duh duh duh* HER FATHER. Like, when Desmond went to visit him in Oxford, it helped him to figure out how to time travel and for a period he was gallivanting across time. (As supported by his appearance in the opening segment at the beginning of the season premiere and the "So you came back" line in tonight's episode.) And that chick who was all laid out who Desmond went to see would be Charlotte's mother.

Meanwhile, about that Other who had a gun to Faraday as she walked him to the H-bomb -- her accent and hair kinda reminded me of a young Fionnula Flanagan (the Matrix lady who we saw at the end of the last episode talking with Ben). Of course, everybody assumes that she's also Faraday's mother, so...

USC can be absolutely reatrded at times. How could they frown upon one of the best shows in television history? Is it that you only watch what is assigned? Or did the discussion of what's excellent on television never come up? How does the the USC program "frown" upon it? i can't fanthom any people who appreciate the craft of telling stories through a visual medium poo pooing Lost if they actually watched it. If they don't watch it and frown on it, tells you a lot about what kind of teachers they are.
