PassiveTheory

Yeah I do, but UCSC isn't offering me a comprehensive financial package, I'm not feeling the vibe from UCSB, UCM is a joke and I'd rather do a TAG course and get into UCSD or something like that then go there, and SDSU is no because it's easier to transfer to a UC via a TAG program then transfering from there after two years.

Also I've heard nothing to the contrary of my assumption that I'll be paying for my collegiate education on my lonesome, and with loan agencies only offering to give you 2500$ in your first two years when UCs are at least 20000$ a year... It fucks you over.

And if someone mentions scholarships, I may have to strangle them...

ewiggy
04-09-2007, 01:48 PM
do community college and transfer. people who do otherwise are rich or stupid or both.

unless you actually want to learn in your first 2 years. then go for a 4 year and good luck - those loans are gonna suck.

I was there with the girl friend of mine with crazy reddish hair. I was not the dude with long hair, but the guy with short dark hair to your right.

I would have said something about recognizing you, but felt kind of weird saying "Hey, I swear to god I've seen your picture on the message board."

Anyhow, it was nice to meet you.

Kristen, I wish I would have thought about it before hand and we totally could have met up. Do you remember the writers name? I have some friends I know at the Stranger and have met most of the staff.

could have been Mark. could be making that up, though. he said he writes for a blog which i think is part of the stranger. he said he used to live in iceland.

he seemed intelligent and i was trying to get him to give me the info of where i could read his stuff, but he just kept mumbling and self-deprecating, so eventually i left.

i feel bad because i told him that the decemberists were marrying someone on stage and he said he'd make a point to go over there so he could write about it. took down notes about what i'd said and all.. and then it didn't happen. oops.

score. found it. his name is Bart, which could easily have been mistaken for Mark with the mumbling and all. he totally blogged about me, sort of:

At 6:15, Saturday’s schedule offered performances from the following bands: Kings of Leon, the Decembrists, !!!, and Andrew Bird. I got involved in a number of lengthy discussions about which show a journalist should cover—all four bands essentially being the future of indy rock. The conclusion was absolute. No doubt about it, I had to go cover the Decembrists show. Why? Because the Decembrists had an amazing gimmick: they were hosting a wedding during their concert. Wow. A wedding. At a rock festival. Now that was a story, I was told.

I like the Decembrists. Hell, they were a key reason I came to the festival, even if their recent album didn’t exactly wow me. But at exactly 6:15 Saturday, I completely lost it over their constant neat little press stories. Bios are cool. And maybe I can take the occasional documentary, theirs gets pretty regular play on the Sundance network, but when you take that and combine it with the press off of their nifty little green screen fan-submitted video stint and then their guitar off with Stephen Colbert, and then a wedding on stage, you get this annoying geeky amalgam.

So I bagged the Decembrists concert and the easy story, though I assume the wedding went through, about halfway through their concert a bunch of journalists walked by my post at Kings of Leon writing in their notebooks and smiling that Oh-aren’t-they-clever-and-cute smile.

now i don't feel bad at all - he didn't even watch the decemberists. haha.

And wm, you and your friend we're awesome, and honestly guys, I organized the Coachella San Diego get together thing w/ miscorrections, I'm USED to being asked if I am so-and-so from a message board.

And for everyone who ran into me and chatted, thanks a bunch, you guys really made the weekend for me, and I think the only awkward convo I had was with Quentin... Which was like "hi aren't you Quentin?" "Yeah I am, who are you?" "PasssiveTheory" "Ohb, nice to meet you" "You too" and that was it... x.x;

Trust me, I will chat up a storm with anyone who ever wants to talk to me, so I hope I run into more of you (or, as in supre's case, STALK more of you =P) at the festival next year, or at concerts over the next year!

Possibly, I dont know, ask any crowd surfer I guess. Thats why they say "ow" when they get hauled off by the gaurds after flying over me.
