Most of them aren't one-off reunions. Usually they coincide with a reunion tour, often at the very beginning of it. Off the top of my head - The Pixies, Gang of Four, Bauhaus, Iggy Pop... Also they get people who haven't really broken up, but haven't played in years, a la Daft Punk and Massive Attack.

Reunion used loosely of course:

***1 - Jane's Addiction
***2 - Siouxsie and the Banshees
***3 - Iggy and the Stooges
***4 - Pixies, Kraftwerk
***5 - Gang of Four, Bauhaus, Cocteau Twins (but canceled)
***6 - Daft Punk and Massive Attack (not so much reunions but rarely tour the U.S.)

Can anyone tell me who the reunions of prior years have been? I didn't realize there was a reunion every year.

From Wikipedia:

In ***1, the festival organizers were having trouble attracting a major headlining band. Running out of time, they went to friend Perry Farrell, who reunited Jane's Addiction in order to headline that year's event. Since then, it has become somewhat of a Coachella tradition to reunite at least one band for each festival. Although the line between a hiatus and an actual breakup is somewhat blurry, a number of artists are considered to have been reunited at Coachella, or have played Coachella as one of their first major shows after a reunion. The following is a list of performers who reunited or made a big return at a Coachella festival.

* ***6
o Massive Attack - First major US show in 8 years
o Daft Punk - First U.S. performance since ***7[1]
o Tool - Not a reunion, but their first performance in four years
* ***5
o Nine Inch Nails - First major US show in 5 years
o Bauhaus
o Gang of Four
o Cocteau Twins - Cancelled a month prior to the show
* ***4
o Pixies
* ***3
o Iggy Pop & The Stooges
* ***2
o Siouxsie and the Banshees
* ***1
o Jane's Addiction

The Police are rumored to play their first reunion show at the Coachella music festival near Palm Springs, California, this fall.

Not all rumors are true though, and that one certainly isn't.

Does Madness playing this year count as a reunion? I do not think they ever broke up, just took long hiatuses.
