Won't happen

Soundgarden would be sweet though. I don't know what in the fuck Chris is thinking working with Timbaland.

Considering they played at Morongo Casino recently, I doubt they would come back to the desert that fast...

The stage was odd, you had to go by the pool (where they had vendors and stuff set up) then follow a paved path through the back area with chain link fences on both sides. Then you arrive at this giant tent (very much like a Coachella / Empire Polo Fied Tent). Inside it was filled with folding chairs broken into the various sections.

It was epicly cheesy considering the location.

I'd be hugely disappointed if STP played.

gps~ i've never seen them to answer your question.....

weiland is coming out with a solo album nov 25 and doing a solo tour, according to the filmore (irving plaza) all american rejects are suppsed to be playing on the night of weiland so we'll see how that pans out.
IF the solo does well i would imagine/guess/hope scott may play coach in 09

stp is a good band live, but not for coachella as a headliner. only if no one else is available...

I wonder why they did that. I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl a few months ago. Scott's last solo album was quite good. It didn't sound anything like STP. It was much more electronic based and it was very poppy and catchy. I'm looking forward to this next one, I think it's a double album.

STP @ Coachella = Not Happening.

Did anyone see them at the Greek in Berkeley? I thought they were pretty poor live. If I hadn't known their songs, I would've been bored and left early. Maybe the sound would be better at Coachella or something, but I just didn't think they recreated the studio sound well at all.

As for people saying not at Coachella, why not? Why do people always respond to ideas like this with one-line posts, without elaborating? Who says it's not happening? I'd consider them big enough to headline and I would even want them to headline (Friday), if I hadn't seen them already and not enjoyed it.

STP if they were to play Coachella should have done it in 08'. It would have beat Jack Johnson. Don't see it happening in 09'.

STP would be awful....

Backwater

I hope you're not saying STP in general is awful. At Coachella though, yeah, it would awful how much they don't fit with the rest of the bands and the overall vibe of the fest. They kicked ass at the Hollywood Bowl a few months ago.

STP>Velvet Revolver....

Well no shit. SOAD is better than Scars on Broadway, Nirvana was better than the Foo Fighters, the Pixies are better than Frank Black and the Catholics, the list goes on and on .... I can't believe you don't like STP though. Listen to Purple, Tiny Music and Shangri La. I'll get you into STP eventually.

STP is alright, but I would most likely pass on the opportunity if they were to play the polo fields. I enjoy listening to Purple, Core, and Tiny Music, but the thought of seeing them does not excite me at all. Whoever said it earlier was right, they should have played this year when they first reunited.

I've got nothing against stone temple pilots, but I can't quite picture them at coachella... I suppose they could do like 9 PM on the outdoor, but I'm not sure I'd go

they would be alright but i already have my heart set on potential groups
Daft punk, Outkast, stuff likethat, anything less would be a let down.

New years eve with stone temple pilots?

Not exactly the way I'd want to kick off 2009

Yeah I hear ya, but if Weiland can make it through new years and vegas without turning into a wreck I think we might finally get that COACHELLA performance. I know the board is about 50/50 on this but I would love to see them.

They strike me as a weak headliner or a strong subhead. And there are a number of bands at that level I'd rather see, like MBV.

They just arent as exciting as they used to be. I saw them on the second stage at Lollapalooza in 92 as upstarts. I saw them various times between Core and Shangri La Dee Da. I just saw them a couple of weeks ago in Dallas on the 25th of October and Weiland is just not on par. They were the headliners to the festival I was at. The Deleo Brothers are incredible musicians so STP would be a good 2nd tier or 3rd tier band.

I agree.

I feel like the only person who hates Velvet Revolver so much that it affects my view on an STP reunion. Yes I know it sounds silly. For now I will just hate the rest of GNR instead of STP.

Velvet Revolver are horrible and IMO Scott Weilands vocal talents were much wasted on that cock rock crap

Scott is about to tour or is touring for his second solo album now it is much different than his first 12 Bar Blues, it is a departure from his usual, very experimental.

Oh I definetly dont see them as a headliner. I thought it was a long shot last year when I was still hoping for the initial reunion. Ive seen revolver, ehhh. but I wouldnt let it cloud my opinion of STP. Mind you I still havnt seen them, so it would mean a little more to me.

Id like to see them get the sundown, mainstage set on friday.
