Again. Missing NIN last show ever for MGMT..... It does deserve ridicule. Even if it wasn't the last tour, this is the last show of the last tour forever or at least for a really long time. MGMT and Yeasayer are not going anywhere.

He has to go to Seattle to clean out a home that he's considering selling. He only has so much PTO and weather permitting Roo week is his only chance.
Ron, I work for a title insurance company, if you can hold off, wait it out. If you're in a crunch go get it taken care of. As long as you'll be there for MHF I won't be mad if you don't go :)

At the very least the ability for Sushy to log into this board should be removed permanently.
Do you not like NIN Sushy? If you don't dig them at all I would understand or even if you only know that one "fuck you like an animal song". Even then I would understand. You should still be removed from this board for christs sake you have to know something about music if you want to see Yeasayer. So what am I missing here?

Is he? I've never heard of any straight guy hating boobies! In fact most of the gay guys I know will go ahead and give a tit a squeeze too.
In my experience, even guys who claim they are ass men, or leg men, or that they only like small chests, once they have a handful they're pleased as punch.
This stems from me saying I don't like blowing my money at strip clubs. I like boobies fine. I am an ass man though, I love a chick with a nice ass. Tit size is not really important. My ex had a large A or a small B cup. The chick I was with before that was an A cup.
Fuck, i'm not really helping my argument about being allergic to tits here am I?

Nah, I say you should act like the kid in you.
But you see Sushy, NIN is a legendary band performing an epic set that will be talked about for years, think Radiohead 06, and you're missing that for flavor of the year pop/rock? For sure you can miss SOME of MGMT for NIN, otherwise that would just be massive, massive fail and you'll seriously regret it. I just don't want you having to tell your kids, "No ... sadly I WAS at bonnaroo 2009, but I did not that set. No, I forget who I saw actually, some band with initials maybe .... "

I'm going with Beastie Boys. I grew up on them. They are basically the soundtrack to my high school years and I've never seen them live. I'm not that familiar with David Byrne, though I highly respect his work with Talking Heads and his influence. So it's really no offense to David Byrne that I'll be skipping him.

If you saw what was played back in February, you would be pleased. The Fragile (the song), The Downward Spiral (the song), Something I can Never Have, La Mer, Suck, Reptile, Dead Souls, The Big Come Down, Wish, Gave Up, Burn, and Non Entity are some of the songs they did. I expect those and some that havent been done in a while too.

I will definitely see less bands at Bonnaroo, but I love the long set times. Usually the sets start right on time, more so than other festivals. Also, I am debating how much time to give bruce before I stake out my NIN spot. I'm thinking 90 ish minutes.

They run along the stage extending out to the sides, then cut 90 degrees and run outward, away from the stage. I don't know if we specified this, but the pits are only at the What Stage.

They have two security guys at each gate in and one of them has one of the click counter things, but i'm not sure how stringent they are with it. they pretty much make a pathway to the pit with railings, and funnel people into the pit that way so they can keep the count accurate.
also, I have a pit tip that I am not going to post, I will give it in the camp, somebody remind me.

Pancakes, you do realize that there is a 4 hour and 15 minutes gap between TMV and NIN, right? And between that 4 hour gap... Boss Time will be playing for 3.5 hours of it. I expect the Which Stage to be pretty for at least the first 2 hours.

Yeah, pretty much. The tents are exactly like coachella, and the Which Stage is like the outdoor theatre, except bigger and there is a center rail and walkway.
how pushy are people to get to the front? like coachella? or worse like lolla?
More like coachella than Lolla. the front is crowded and people will stake out spots all day, but the crowd spreads out and chills farther back. way, way better than lolla.

Well I have seen NIN before, so I am going to watch Yeasayer for at least 30 minutes, more if they really have me. I have a feeling the last 2/3rds of the NIN set is what is going to kill. I rarely see full sets anyway, and missing some songs doesn't bother me all that much, unless I miss Just Like You Imagined, in which case I will punch- ohyouknowtherest. Also I am not one to get up close because I don't think it sounds as good, and I need sufficient room to rock out. If you wanna tag team for Saturday night I'd be happy to hang out. Well, as long as I don't have to stand behind you at either show.

Don't be surprised if Yeasayer keep you there for the full 45 minutes Brandon. I saw them last November and they were awesome. I cannot stress enough how much better they are live than on album. I don't know what I am going to do though. I do really want to see them, but this may be my last chance seeing NIN for a LONG time. Also, Yeasayer have a new album comming out sometime this year, so that must mean there will be a tour to follow. So I am most likely going to see all of NIN. If I somehow wind up at Yeasayer though, I will make sure you are not standing behind me.

05-07-2009, 08:22 PM
San Diego doesn't always get great shows (I say this as I am seeing both Mogwai and M83 in the same month) so I feel I need to take this opportunity to see Yeasayer while it presents itself. I could always try to find a cheap ticket to the NINJA tour and leave after NIN.

Be an adult and suck it up. You can still see them both, even if they aren't for entire sets. And you've seen them both before. So either you see an entire set of one or you see like 45 minutes to an hour of both. Either way you're getting a good experience.

Yeah. But Tommy, people are throwing down a lot of money and investing time and travel into it. They need to feel they're getting what they put into it back. And if most of the main reasons you are going are going to conflict, you don't have that kind of confidence in getting a good return for your investment. And a lot of us have never been to Bonnaroo so we don't have the dedication to make us overlook what we perceive to be poor scheduling like we might with Coachella. And with so many competing festivals out there . . . etcetcetc.
A perfect summation of how I feel, Patrick. At least we have time to think it over.

Amy, someone was telling me that airfare prices drop mid-week (are lowest Tuesday night, and Wednesday) and then are more expensive again on Friday-Sunday... I'm sure they'll go down again.
i think someone might have meant that it's cheaper to actually fly on those days, not buy tickets on those days. i buy airfare like monthly and haven't noticed this.

Anyone seen Oakenfold lately? What does he play now? He's done some remixes that I have enjoyed quite a bit (The Faint and Bjork). Not holding out hope of hearing them though.

Ivy, no they meant prices (for any day of the week) fluctuate at regular intervals during the week. It has something to do with how airfare rates are sent to 3rd party services? If you're not buying from the airline's site, a clearing house has been used to publish the prices and there are multiple fare levels with an amount of seats per tier. So there is allegedly a schedule to getting the cheapest tickets. Again, allegedly, that's better on Tues/Weds, and on any week day best at 10AM, 1PM, and 8PM ET. I don't know if the time of days are still true. This is old info. I haven't paid enough attention recently to verify, but airfare is definitely more expensive late in my evening.

So I think I might act grown up and go to Seattle instead of going to the roo (: not sure yet …. I talked (email) with the UK guy that might get me tics and he said this is the first time they have tried this at the roo (they mostly do European fests) so he didn’t know what the chances were of the roo sending his business tics ….. So two questions: if I get the tics and don’t go, would a couple of people think about the bands and send me a couple of reviews? I guess you could just post them here but it would be better if I actually had it from you …. 2nd if you have to pick up the tics at the venue, does anyone want my info and they can try and get them yourselves? You could probably sell them for a couple of hundred for the pair, maybe use it as a money pool for the Coachella/roo bunch and just have a toast (ed) for me …. Just thinking ahead thinking I will get lucky …… cr****

Yes, you have. But almost every time someone has a complaint about Bonnaroo, you ridicule them. Not all of us have been to Bonnaroo, T. I've been to enough fests to know that I would love it there.
But it's fucking expensive and the set times, believe it or not, do affect those of us trying to figure out if we can afford it or wait for a year where the music/set times actually coincide more with our personal tastes.

Coachella had conflicts and all but I got to see everyone REALLY important that I need to see, and there were always lot's of options. Not everything was crammed into the day time hours and then desolate at night. The exception being maybe 45 minutes of MBV, and it's kind of obvious why that decision was made.
And I'm not just talking about the headliners going unopposed at Bonnaroo. I just mean there's sooooooooo much going on during the day and then like 5 choices all night.
