Yeah, I don't get comedy at music festivals really. Some people like it though so more power to them. I tried watching some last year at Sasquatch and boy was it lame. I'll see comedy acts at small theaters not in some tent in the middle of nowhere when there are 4 musical acts performing elsewhere.

I would consider checking out Kat Williams or Dave Chapelle but that's about it.

I dunno, I watched a bit of that black guy from SNL and he was not funny. Not funny at all. It way more funny seeing the guy from Reno 911 sitting down smoking a cigarette and fucking with people who sitting near him. That wasn't on any stage though.

There are some comedy acts I'd definitely check out but I think the format it's presented in at these things just doesn't work.... small-ish tents with limited capacity, makes for too long lines if it's anyone worth seeing. It would be awesome to have good comedians on a stage, but.... music is enough for me :)

What do you guys use for face wash? Like for acne, oily skin, whatnot. I don't have a terrible acne problem, that time has passed me thank God. But there's still the random pimples and more than anything I have a serious problem with black heads. Black heads are my enemy!!!!

Any good recommendations?

I have wicked allergies. That might explain why I've been grouchy with people. Well it might explain 5% of it. The other 95% has to do with people who think they know the inner workings of putting on a music festival and complain when an artist doesn't get booked. Also, I don't have any food at my apartment.

chiapet
03-20-2009, 02:22 PM
Salah, do you tend towards oilier than not? I think my one of my sibs uses Nivea, along with clay masks once in a while.

I'm terrible, I don't even always wash my face let alone use products. I buy them and I try to use them but I just forget. Thank god I got lucky in the skin department.

The Cetaphil is over the counter cleanser and is not too drying. I'm also using the Cetaphil moisturizing cream (which also helps the drying out issue). It's starting to work pretty well, but I've only been doing this a week.

chiapet
03-20-2009, 02:26 PM
I thought NM is where people move to get away from allergies. :(

Salah, my skin is really sensitive too, almost anything to treat acne burns my skin and makes me break out. I honestly have better luck just not doing anything. I get blackheads when I try to use harsh cleansers. The only face wash that has ever worked well for me is shiseido.

amyzzz
03-20-2009, 02:26 PM
I don't know about blackheads, although I do see products at the store sometimes that are specifically for that.

chiapet
03-20-2009, 02:32 PM
Most of the stuff specifically for blackheads is pretty harsh and has alpa hydroxy acid which might burn sensitive skin -- it ends up making your glands overproduce oil and then the blackheads just get worse.

Have you tried just steaming your face (over a pot or bowl of hot water or put a hot towel over your face for 5 min or so) to open the pores and then clean? exfoliating might help too but don't be too rough about it.

This isn't too interesting to you, but I'll share anyway. One of the kind of awesome things I found about SF when I moved here is that there are a LOT of those "don't have female friends" females here, probably due to the tech market or something, and it turns out that these are the types of girls that I can be friends with. Of course we all met through guys. :D

chiapet
03-20-2009, 02:44 PM
Having no female friends at all, regardless of your own gender, might be a little strange. I have a few close female friends and tons of guy friends. My guy friends are, for the most part, far better at friendship than the chicks, I'm sorry to say.

Since I love spreading rumors here is another one, someone said that ticket sales are way off the mark for Bonnaroo this year and it is in risk of being cancelled. other people with sources say it is not true, and someone emailed them to ask if it was a possibility. This was the response they received
Hey Clayton,

Here's what we can tell you: Instead of cancelling Bonnaroo, we're going to make it even better. Stay tuned to our website for some real cool surprises. How strong do you think those rumors are now?

Tommy, I actually like your list quite a lot. I am so glad Yeasayer made it into your top 10. My only question is, why is Booker T so low?

It just doesn't seem real interesting and it doesn't help that Drive-By Truckers are the backing band.

A car is made up of a bunch of parts. But when referring to the car it is singular.

Let's make a compromise, if the band name is plural (IE The Beatles) then use "are." Phish I guess COULD be considered plural as well. But something like "The Mars Volta are...." is just weird and uncomfortable for me to read.

Collective Nouns, Company Names,
Family Names, Sports Teams

There are, further, so called collective nouns, which are singular when we think of them as groups and plural when we think of the individuals acting within the whole (which happens sometimes, but not often).

audience
band
class
committee
crowd
dozen
family
flock
group
heap
herd
jury
kind
lot
[the] number
public
staff
team

We could say the Tokyo String Quartet is one of the best string ensembles in the world, but we could say the Beatles were some of the most famous singers in history. Generally, band names and musical groups take singular or plural verbs depending on the form of their names: "The Mamas and the Papas were one of the best groups of the 70s" and "Metallica is my favorite band."

Yeah I got to listen to lots of my favorite music too. It lasted a couple hours or so. And it did sound very different. I tried to pick out the music I love that's especially trippy... and some of my favorites were a couple songs by Animal GayGayGay :D and "Loomer" by MBV.

Everything by MBV sounded soooo different... all the sounds were all separated and they made all sorts of sense for once. It was weird.

Not getting stoned today, but will drink some mescaline later. I've never smoked pot and I'm still not sure if I want to (smells bad, but then so does the mescaline boiling in a pot downstairs).

I have a very strong aversion to smoke and kind of weak lungs. And I hadn't tried ANYTHING until about 3.5 years ago in any case.

I hate smoking too. I think I finally got over it last night becaus the "high" that followed outweighed the pain. But it still hurts like hell. I wish there was another way to injest it. My lungs still feel a little pain this afternoon.

San Pedro cactus. At the Home Depot. chopped up, cored, boiled down with lemon juice for a few hours, strained out and drunk.

Get a vaporizer, they're expensive but if you get one now in the beginning it will be worth it for years to come.

Probably, although you'd have to eat a lot of it. We just keep boiling and boiling and boiling, then we strain it so we have to ingest a very small but potent portion of it. I cannot stress how absolutely disgusting it is to drink. I can't imagine eating the chunky pulp instead of just drinking it. SLIMY.

Ok, it's not really slimy now that it's been boiled, but it was really slimy when I cut it. (I just checked it) Still. I wouldn't want to add any gross texture to the mix.

Well, she would tell me its ok and that I could do it if I wanted to, but I know she would be uncomfortable with it. There are also other reasons. But I should just leave it there.

As for Coachella, probably Friday. But I will decide when set times comes out.

Ally, we haven't tried that yet, but hesitant tests in the past with mixing the drink with sweeter stuff have been miserable failures. What we usually do is take one sip of the cactus juice and then a sip of some sweet juice, like cranberry, orange, or pineapple/orange/banana juice. Maybe alternating sips with a juice smoothie would work too. DO NOT TRY ALTERNATING WITH COKE (a-cola) because that's just gross.
