They were "meh", I mean they sounded good but the lead guitarist (guy from The Smiths) wasn't there and their set was really short, just over an hour. Definitely not worth the $42 ticket price, thank god I got mine for free :D

I've been having psychic predictions that this tour is going to be just like that. And $42? Are you kidding me? If I dont go to Harvest of Hope, MM was my other option for that Sunday. But deerhunter is playing that same night too. Deerhunter wins I think

I have been trying to decide on a tattoo and the main thing that I want is a Denver Broncos Tat. I know they will be my favorite team forever and that won't change, unlike with bands.

Whoa whoa whoa!!! Did you not see who I'm going to THIS concert with? That's fuckin scary, Dylzeez. And some harsh accusations to be sure.

Whoa whoa yourself, gently down a stream!

Did I ONCE accuse you of banging your sis?!? I hope to god she won't be the only female there, although, I wouldn't be surprised if she was :)

Relax, Tomzeez, it's clear to see that since you've been without your boots the normal massive amounts of ladies that throw themselves at you as been down. Don't worry, it's just a slump, everyone needs a slumpbuster once in a while.

There might be some hot ass at this concert. Hmmm. I've been all off kilter without my boots. I'm having to rely on charm to get women now and it's definitely not working. Maybe I can strike up a convo with a chick at this show and play the whole "I'm a good brother because I came with my sister to a show" angle.

My sibs and I have pretty different taste in music, though there are some intersections. Oddly, Bonnaroo would actually be a good mix for us.

The first show (I remember) ever going to with my sibs was uhhhh Everclear, Space Hog, Tracey Bonham and 7 Year Bitch. I really really didn't like Space Hog but my mom bribed me with a free ticket to be the chaperone, and 7 Year Bitch and Tracey Bonham were incredible.

The *last* show I went to with my brothers was !!!. :)

Well it's an EP, so it's kind of an unfair comparison from the outset. I think Paul like Broken probably because it's heavier throughout than the other two.

paulb
02-26-2009, 11:30 AM

Mr. Dylanja

Have you listened to FIXED yet like I recommended a 100 pages ago? It's the hardest album, BY FAR!

TommyboyUNM
02-26-2009, 11:34 AM

I like Broken a lot, but I just think the comparison is flawed because it's EP-ish vs LP. It's like comparing Opiate to Aenima. Every song on Opiate is strong, but there are only 6 songs.

02-26-2009, 11:35 AM

chiapet

I'm not saying I don't like Broken, I just like the other two albums I mentioned more.

Broken has (that I like): Wish, Last, Happiness in Slavery, Gave Up, Physical (LOVe that cover)

PHM has (that I like): pretty much the whole fucking album. Honestly. Not a single song I don't love.

TDS I'd have to listen to again, haven't heard it in years, but I remember there only being 1 song I don't really like.

paulb
02-26-2009, 11:43 AM
Mr. Self Destruct
Closer
Piggy
March of the pigs
hurt
burn
reptile....

Downward Spiral is fairly flawless....Im still going with Broken as my favourite, only because Wish is my fav single by NIN, and Last is my fav non single NIN track.

Hrmm.. I went to put on broken and somehow picked up TDS instead and didn't realize until i put it into the cd player.

I like PHM the most just because I was so taken with it at the time. I think TDS is a more solid album, but PHM is more nostalgic for me.

chiapet
02-26-2009, 11:48 AM
Now that I think about it, I'm not sure there are any songs on TDS that I don't like. I was thinking A Warm Place, mostly just because I can't even remember it. Every other NIN song from any of those albums is memorable.

I'm glad you agree, rage, I really think The Slip was overlooked by a lot of people this year, I found it to be excellent.

I really can't get into their music much, but god... they sure are extravagant in their live show. It's definitely something worth experiencing for me at least once. Just to oogle at.

I'm loving the almost 180-degree change you've made with AC. No clue how or even why that happened because their live show didn't change from what I can tell. But more power to you. :)

How could you NOT be interested in seeing NIN? I think I might actually hate you right about now. You love A***** C********* and The M*** V****, but don't like NIN? That's an extreme disconnect for me. I can see not being too interested in the Beastie Boys or even wanting to see both Phish set. But for fuck's sake, look into NIN.

I might miss NIN if conflicts suck because I plan on going to both the SD and Irvine shows. Fuck yeah, Janes, and NIN back to back.

Watching that Bjork video is making me wish I hadn't fucked up 2007 so bad.

Bands I'm actually interested in at Bonnaroo: Beastie Boys, David Byrne, Al Green, Erykah Badu, TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Band Of Horses, Girl Talk, Of Montreal, Animal Collective, Neko Case, Femi Kuti, Grizzly Bear, St. Vincent, Yeasayer. I'll more than likely endure BOSS TIME out of curiosity, and watch a little bit of Phish to see what the hype's all about. There's a bunch of other bands on there that I'll probably watch too that I'm either not familiar enough with their music yet (Wilco) or am pretty indifferent to but don't mind (MGMT).

I'll ignore your double negative at the end of the post because I know what you meant. But Radiohead CAN do wrong in my eyes. A lot of times, in concert, Thom can become flat and it gets annoying.

RHCP at Coachella 2007 was crap and it wasn't just the setlist. The show had zero energy. I've seen them before and they had tons of energy. Only if they went back in time and brought over the 1991 version of RHCP. Not the 2009 version of RHCP. They could've done a set with nothing but BSSM and Californication songs at Coachella and I still would've been pissed. It wasn't the song selection.

I'm still calling MBV or YYY's on the outdoor stage. I have this feeling. Also TG won't conflict with MBV or YYY's, my guess is The cure.

There is no way MBV doesn't play main stage. YYYs......possibly outdoor stage, but I still doubt it. But MBV is a main stage act. Did you just pull that out of your ass?

After watching three live Animal Collective videos, I'm definitely more excited to see them. And I do not plan on being sober at that one, so I'm hoping it's after dark somehow.

It's like I don't even know you anymore. Haha. Kidding dude, that's cool that live videos didn't make you not wanna see them. Enjoy.

Other than me wanting to be peaking at The Cure (and only because I have seen MBV once already, not so w/The Cure), I'd say we have pretty similar, outstanding Sundays planned. Well-played, sir.

I think you are both missing the point of the SPAT. you take it when the are on stage not full blown tripping to them, like i assume you want to be for AC and TG.

There really isn't much i want to trip for this year, maybe TG. But other than that i think i will just be smoking alot of weed.

I have said all that I could say about Throbbing Gristle and tried to be as nice as possible. It's great they are playing and I know it's rare, so if you like them then it's good for you. But this just confirms everything I've ever said about your music tastes, flapjacks.

P.S. - You are still my boy. Don't ever forget it.

Hahahah yes and you are still my boy Tommy!

But actually I'm not the biggest fan of Throbbing Gristle anyway. I don't find them very "difficult" or anything. I've just never been big on electronic or industrial music. And in terms of listening... I'd definitely take latter-day Autechre over Throbbing Gristle. But they're someone we should all appreciate. They're a very importand band, historically-speaking, and so some due respect should be paid by me. They also totally slay live apparently, but that's irrelevant.

Well, for someone who was extremely excited about the comedy tent... I only went in once last year, and I doubt this year will be much different for me. So I can't imagine you'd go in more than once this year either unless you're willing to sacrifice 5-10 bands you wanted to see instead... it's a bit of a bummer.

I had zero time to go into the comedy tent, there was too much happening. I think too much time is devoted to seeing a comedian at Bonnaroo. Chris Rock on the main stage last year satisfied my entire comedy craving for the weekend.

It wasn't for me. I just walked right in, was five minutes late, and got a great seat. And that was for the headlining comedian. But I went alone and that's probably why. I've heard a lot of bad things like having to wait in line for two hours just to get in.

Yeah you just have to wait a bit to get in (or at least get tickets to the show you want). If you have no bands you're interested in for a couple of hours then it might be worth going into the comedy tent. I wanted to see Jim Norton last year, but my schedule didn't allow for it.

Personally I like this message board because it's a one-stop shop for me. Everything I need to discuss about music festivals and other concerts in one easy-to-access place with a lot of pretty humorous people.

But everyone here is in agreement that the Bonnaroo message board basically blows. I don't think it's that bad myself. But it's slow moving, everyone's relatively boring, and not much really goes on that is worth reading.

Personally, I don't like the format of the Roo board and I like the people and little censorship on this one. And it's more fun for me to talk about Bonnaroo, and other Bonnaroo-ish things, with people who I actually know rather than with the people in the Roo board.

You guys just have a much better board, Dani, and I made this thread so any Roo talk could hopefully just be in here instead of cluttering the entire board. I think you guys should take it as a compliment that we wanna talk about Bonnaroo on the Coachella board rather than on the Roo board. :)

Patrick, our lists for Bonnaroo are very similar. I'm slightly more excited for NIN but that's decreased a little since the "It's not Lights in The Sky" thing really sunk it. I'll still see Trent (through dilated pupils:))

Also, The Slip is very underrated. I love that album like WHOA, then With Teeth and Year Zero are pretty much tied in my opinion. I need to give them more time though.
