Yeah it was for false advertising. Cause again, it's all bullshit. It's a pretty box with a clever name for the same shit you would normally take.

All that airborne and EmergenC and whatever else they try to sell you is nonsense. The key to getting better is vitamin C supplements, zinc, tons of fluids, and sleep.
The vitamin c you want to take after you eat, otherwise you will just piss it all out. Same with the zinc. Take 1000mg of c, not sure how much zinc. Speaking of pissing, you should be drinking enough water and oj to have you pee be clear. This cuts all of my colds in half.
I dunno, I haven't had a cold in over 3 years. I had bronchitis 2 years ago and that's about it. Just allergies other than that.
That stuff isn't nonsense, but it shouldn't be the only thing you take. Especially if you're already pretty sick.

I'm here to reassure you all that the body heat from the orgy will keep us all toasty :)

It's nonsense in the respect that they market it as some new invention that will save you from getting sick.
you will do just as well if not better from stuff that already exists in the form of vitamins and fluids, that's all. Vitamin C is cheaper than airborn and works just as well so yeah calling it something new because you sell it as some cocktail of vitamins is kind of silly. There is no evidience airborn works better than regular vitamins or traditional methods of fighting sickness.
I never get the flu. i do get colds but maybe once or twice a year at most.
amyzzz
06-02-2009, 10:21 AM
I've been getting the same one day cold for 2 or 3 weeks now. Trading it back and forth with my daughter. Either it's a cold or allergies. Or I need to power clean my fucking house.

It's nonsense in the respect that they market it as some new invention that will save you from getting sick.
They USED to market it this way. And they were stupid for doing so. Just like anything, you should probably know what you're putting in your body. I knew what it was before I ever took it. But it seemed to work and I was like "fuck it, whatever." If you're already sick, don't think that drinking it twice a day will make you better.

I'm bringing my docs in case of intermittent rain. I live in the fucking desert so I have no idea what to wear if it's raining constantly the whole weekend (galoshes?). But I am assuming if it does rain, it won't rain all day long.

yea, I can't take zinc (makes me really dizzy and nauseous - really bizarre) but I take enormous amounts of vit C. Instead of taking a ton at once via EmergenC, I just take a tablet or two every 3-4 hours throughout the day. Either it really works, or it works because I think it will, but it shortens illness every time. Works for me for everything except stomach flus.
And I did know that some drugs dampen the immune system, I am working on getting better so I can still participate. :/
Regarding rain...
D
Rain + tshirts = :pulse
But rain + dayglo makeup = :(
So how about no rain and we just get all the girls to spray their shirts down for you? Deal?
Preparing for rain, there have already been lots of good tips, but just to recap:
- Make sure you have both your rain fly and a ground cover for your tent. Don't just use a big tarp for ground cover. If you need to use plastic sheeting or a tarp, cut it to size (should be just slightly smaller than the bottom of your tent). Plastic or tarp hanging over the edge of your tent = water funneling under your tent. Stake well in case it's windy.
- Poncho, and also consider that if it's wet and windy, you might be colder than usual. I usually bring a hoody for under a poncho.
- Anything sensitive to water (electronics, powders), I throw into a ziploc before putting in my tent or bag just in case the whole thing ends up in a puddle.
- Footwear... I cannot stand rain boots, so I wear normal boots, or if it's only raining lightly flip flops.
- Steve has an excellent point about keeping a spare pair of shoes, socks (pants, etc) in the car in case your tent leaks.
- If we're really expecting rain, a quick-dry towel or two might not be a bad idea. Both for drying people and for drying tent mishaps.

Amy, I don't have rain boots either, but my doc-type-boots that are weather proofed stay dry "enough".
I don't know when I became so fragile, I'm remembering playing for hours in below zero weather and feet of snow, and would always become soaked to the very core of my being, despite putting feet into boots (and into plastic bags inside the boots!!) but it was always fine.

If anyone is looking for something to watch Thursday night in the 9:30 - 10:30 time frame, you should join me at Chairlift.
Female fronted, sort of 80s retro sounding. Sorta Cure-ish. The girl reminds me of Amanda Palmer, vocally.
Here is a track. Not all are this slow, but this one caught my ear.

How exactly do you know what time you'll be putting up your tent?
I plan on getting to Bonnaroo on Thursday evening at around 6:30-7:30ish... and so as soon I get there I will want to go immediately to the music, mainly for Portugal the Man who starts at 8:30, and then they end at 9:30... so I figure that would be the most appropriate time to go back and set up my tent and air mattress and whatnot because there isn't anyone else I really want to see.

06-02-2009, 01:13 PM
I just find it interesting that you are trying to schedule something that doesn't seem possible to schedule. Depending when you leave Nashville the line to get into Bonnaroo at best estimates is between 3 and 7 hours so giving the precise time of tent pitching threw me off.

A reciever works as both AM/FM stero and a hub for all of your other components you hook up to it via the inputs. For example you have a reciever and speakers. you can listen to the radio. Then you can plug a cd player, dvd player, cassette player and so on into the reciever so now you can listen to all those things through your speakers.
Did I just explain what a home stereo is? You know how those worked right?

Thursday night will be Hood Internet dance party into Tobacco dance party. Sunday would be the night.
This software I found is sort of a pain. Trying to figure it out. Will keep you posted.
Also, Gonsh, that is a pretty limited price range for good home speakers if you dont already have a receiver. I was going to recommend stuff but you would be spending around 1000 on the total setup.

Hot. Very hot.
Well, relatively hot. Like most of my countrymen, I'm designed for near-aquatic conditions. And as soon as it stops raining, we can't cope. I was off, so I took a train to the pretty little old seaside town of Bray, and myself and Grizzly Bear's Veckatimest climbed up Bray Head:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e6/Bray_head.jpg
And marvelled at the fact that anybody was ever demented enough to haul all the concrete up there to make that damn thing.
Then I came home, and sat down, and that pretty much brings us up to speed. It was a nice day.

Inscription says it was built in 1950, which was apparently a "Holy Year". I'm not really sure what was so awesome about 1950 that some dudes decided it needed to be commemorated by dragging loads of cement up a rocky cliff.
I dragged myself through nearly vertical forestry and through all these little animal trails through the wild brush, and only when I got up to the top did I notice the lovely gentle tourist path I was actually supposed to use. Was too tired to be angry.

Thanks for that advice. I just finished my Airborne so i'll go pick up some vitamin c tomorrow. And i've been chugging OJ like a madman, and water is my favorite drink so im always pretty well hydrated.

1 represents a car
W is a tent
H is a canopy
1 WW H 11
Will we have enough space? Also, is it better to bring two four person tents or one eight person tent?

I need to have this chat with N&S. I still don't know if A&C are going or not, which completely affects which vehicle we'll take and every other detail. I'm getting so frustrated. N&S have absolutely no idea what they're in for, they think this is just going to happen. Whatever.
I saw A (of A&C) put two Bonnaroo tickets for sale on ebay. She linked it on facebook. It made me Majorly Sad Panda

Yeah, they've been trying to sell them but to no avail. I don't know why they don't just go, I know she's jobless but they've already foot the bill for the tix, y'know? I'm different I guess, when I was jobless, it didn't prevent me from going to Lolla in '07, and it was a spectacular decision on my part, I feel.
But hey, if we leave later, maybe Pat can ride down with N, S, and me. It'll all work out, I just wish I didn't have so many questions about my group this close to Roo.

I'm not surprised the BBoys warm up show is at the Orange Peel, that's AC Entertainment's flagship venue.
gonsh, people are right, there won't be room to put your structures between the cars, it goes row of cars, row of tents, row of tents, row of cars. but, since you have three cars driving in together, when you park just give a couple feet between the vehicles and no one will give a shit. you should have plenty of space. the official rule is 10' x 10' for each vehicle
chiapet
06-02-2009, 09:32 PM
10'x10' per vehicle is pretty small, are they more generous than that in actuality?
For example, we have 4 people in our car, at coachella we'd get 16' x 16' and that feels small. :P
paulb

Truth be told, there is actually nothing official about the camping process WHATSOEVER. haha. the only people you will have to deal with on matters of camping space are your neighbors. you will just stake out the space that you need, and if you are encroaching on space that your neighbor needs, they will tell you. and vice versa.

Heidi, glad to hear everything should work out well. Also glad to hear you dig the mix.
Now as far as getting them there, if worse comes to worse packing wise, feel free to ship the sub to me and I can drive it. Obviously that is another expenditure, but it may be easier/cheaper than trying to bring it on a plane. Let me know what you decide, but it's gotta be decided quick.

I listened to the new White Rabbits album tonight. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Is anybody else seeing them with me on Thursday night?
Also, I just finished the new Phoenix album. Didn't like it quite as much as the White Rabbits one, but it was still pretty solid. I think it'll be a good show on Friday night.

The sub alone is like 20+ lbs I think. It would be more expensive to ship to you (in time to get to Roo) than to fly with it.... the only concern I have is that the sub is much bigger (wider) than my suitcase. But I was planning on getting a new (bigger) suitcase anyway so now I'll take that into consideration.
God help me, I'm going to have one bag full of camping gear and one bag full of electronics and lights and glow, and no clothes at all.
I was glaring at the sub earlier thinking that I could pack at least 8 pairs of shoes in its place. :P

I'm hoping this is also true. And shit, if people aren't meeting up until 5:30 at the Wal-Mart, we might leave later from Iowa. I'd planned on heading to TN shortly after my 11 hour shift ends Wed. morning, but maybe I'll get a few hours of sleep first.
Also, do you guys have iPhones? I don't, but several people in my Coachella crew had them and there was some app that made it much easier to find our vehicle at the end of the night. Thinking we oughta do the same thing with our campsite...
You would hope so, but it doesn't mean you'll get a sweet spot just because you're early. We were really early one year and got LITERALLY the worst spot, I think it was camp Q. It had to be at LEAST a mile and probably a 25-35 minute walk to a stage. It sucked ASS. I don't know how to get a good spot, there are a lot of theories, but I have no idea.

Boots are not a necessity i'm sure. My feet tend to hurt without the ankle support when lots of walking is involved. They are also water proof which is a nice bonus but again I think there are people who do the opposite and wear sandals all weekend. If there is a lot of mud and rain I may be better off than some but it's not the end of the world.

Had the exact ones for Glastonbury and my feet were perfect. Dry, comfortable, and no blisters at all. Wear them a day before to break them in. I'll probably be wearing my sandals all weekend. bringing boots and Wellies just in case of a monsoon
Where are all of you guys going to be trying to camp this year? Is it basically wherever they put us or do you have a particular place in mind. I'm shuttling it in around 10:30 and probably going to be doing tent only but I am not sure.

Good to hear. They were only $35 and that included new laces and additional weather proofing. They were slightly used already but I plan on wearing them for at least a day prior because they are "M" which is not wide width so I figured they could use a little stretching out. These are the same kind I previously had for 7 years but finally died at Coachella this year when the soles cracked on both. I also wore them every day walking around europe for 22 days. My feet were quite happy.

I've made it so we'll be getting in line roughly the same time that my ex, her sister and I did last year. That seemed to work out really well. We were 5 minutes (at most) walking distance from Centeroo. It is sorta random, but it worked last year. So why not do the same thing?
And, Salah, don't worry because Drew said I had a good plan with that. And I know how much you trust him on Bonnaroo matters.
