It's simple, everyone gets a full week starting on Monday of each week. Once your week is up it is your job to choose the next board member. Ask any questions you want. If the person who is chosen refuses, a new member has to be chosen by the person who's week just ended.

5PM on Monday is the deadline...if the person selected does not show up by then, another selection will be made by the previous fellow board member.

Week 1)

This week we will feature sbessiso. This lad is a homosexual from Florida who loves Beck, Bonnaroo and chemicals. He is only 20 years old and his next big show will be Nine Inch Nails. Salah was also part of the inaugural Party All Weekend camp group aka PAW at Coachella 2008. He has made quite an impact on the message board.

Now, what do we not know about Salah that you want to ask him?

Next week we will do an expose on another board member if this is an enjoyable feature. If not let it rot to the bottom of the board.

Feel free to post pictures and talk about good times you have had with Salah. This is a celebration of a board member as well.

I will start. Salah, what type of job do you have and do you live on your own or with your parents?

What I appreciate most about Salah is that he does homework that I assign him. I think he may like Sigur Ros by now. My favorite Salah memory might be when he talked about Beck fucking him in his ear.

I think I asked you this before, but with no response. So here's my question.

As a straight fella, is it a big compliment if a gay gentlemen thinks I am sexy? Are you all picky or not so much?

sbessiso

I'm honored/embarassed. Thank you Faxman!

I'm a slave at a major corporate coffeeshop that has an average 3 stores for every block. The work is soulcrushing and brainmelting (not in a good way). I currently live with mom but hope to change that with the coming new year.

Pilgrim, while I have no definite plans at the moment, I would very much like to visit your lovely country sometime in the new year as well.

Also, my next big show is The Faint on saturday, I've been exploding to see them since 10th grade, so this is Big (then NIN 3 days later)

I met Salah on couple occasions earlier this year at Coachella. Mostly early AM stuff when we were both way too stoned to say much more then hello and nice to meet you. Waking and baking sometimes causes some social awkwardness with new people. He has inspired me to consider Bonnaroo next year and we share a love for Beck though I sometimes pine for the Beck of the old days. Salah has a great enthusiasm for music much like the rest of us and he's not afraid to venture out and listen to different types of music.

Well, it's ALWAYS a compliment when someone hits on you regardless of gender. That being said, we tend to be a little on the sluttier side....

Not quite so much. I have a feeling people imagine a limp-wristed, lisping glitter wearing fairy boy. I can understand why, but I'm in no way "over the top". I mean, I have my moments, people who have met me know. I can't really describe

question:

I have a feeling I would need much more energy for JW. Beck is a cuddle and spoon type of dude.

You actually inspired me to go get Modern Guilt finally and I must say I dig it.

this makes my heart sooooar. When he plays Chella next year, gear up for "Chemtrails", it's so intense live. Hopefully he will bless us with "Volcano"

It is and it isnt. Miami and South Beach in particular is very shallow and is overrun with the stereotypical gays. I have no problem with them, but the majority of them are so prissy and bitchy and just not my type. I would liek to go to a place that has a better variety of gays. Y'know?

Why can't you be positive, happy, and gay, like Salah? Salah, what do you do with your spare time?

Besides ridiculous amounts of posting on here, my friends and I just like to hang out and shoot the shit. We have supernintendo marathons, eat pizza, talk mad shit about tourists, talk about Bowie and Flight of the Conchords. There are Trashy Beach Parties at night, but most of the time we just try to stay sane inside insanity.

Salah, you're on Facebook and haven't requested me as a friend? WTF?

I have no idea how to find you!!

Salah, where do you see yourself in 10 years? What do you think you will be doing?

I would really like to be writing for a magazine of some kind. Maybe even a newspaper. I would like to be a film critic, this has been my dream for a few years but lately I've kinda eased away from that. I'm doing some soul-searching to be honest. All I can hope is that 10 years from now. I'm happy no matter what I'm doing

*sigh* It's my fault I GUESS. There is a good chunk of the time I'm just being normal and whatnot and everyone else attacks with the gay puns/doubt entendres etc. But I'm flattered I suppose. Why the Hell not?? I will look you up for thing whenever I hit Dublin. You have to take me to the bar the prettiest boys frequent the most. No pressure on Guero, it took me years to get to AF.

How long it goes is up to you all. I just planned on having a new one each week. We don't have to spend the full week in the thread discussing and asking questions but we can if we want. We already got real talk doing caracatures each day but if you guys want this done daily that is fine too. I'm going to be selecting people I know little about as well too. So, with that said, I vote for a new person each Tuesday to coincide with new music tuesday. Nothing has to be set in stone though.

This is going much better than I thought it would though. For starters. I gave Salah no heads up at all. He could have been like "ahhh no way faxman, i'm out of here with this nonsense" but he participated and that made it possible. So, keep in mind during the random selection process if someone selected doesn't want to particapte it's going to be a fail week until a replacement is found.

I think this will also encourage posting here in the off season though with over 50 registered users on here all day, it's hardly a dead place these days.

Backwater
10-21-2008, 02:53 PM
I'm thinking that this thread will get derailed way too easily if we spend an entire week on just one person. Sure it might work will Salah because he's more interesting and funny than most of this board. If we pick someone dull and boring this thread will quickly turn into something completely unrelated to that person. I think me and him successfully converted about half of the threads in the Music Lounge into Bonnaroo threads, and it was completely inadvertant, I promise.

chairmenmeow47
10-21-2008, 02:54 PM
that was the great thing about voting for board member of the week. it not only meant that we generally knew the person nominated was someone people were interested in hearing about, but it also helped guarantee it was someone who was actively posting and also being interesting at that moment.

Voting is a good idea. I just don't think we should be forced to spend a full week on someone if it turns out that they're just really bland, which there's nothing wrong with but for the betterment of the thread we should all try to reach an agreement on when someone's time is up. Salah: You meet your soul mate. However, there is a catch - every three years, someone will break both of your soul mate's collarbones with a Crescent wrench, and there is only one way you can stop this from happening - you must swallow a pill that will make every song you hear--for the rest of your life--sound as if it's being performed by the band Alice in Chains. When you hear Creedence Clearwater Revival on the radio, it will sound (to your ears) like it's being played by Alice in Chains. If you see Radiohead live, every one of their tunes will sound like it's being covered by Alice in Chains. When you hear a commercial jingle on TV, it will sound like Alice in Chains; if you sing to yourself in the shower, your voice will sound like deceased Alice vocalist Layne Staley performing a capella (but it will only sound this way to you). Would you swallow the pill?

PAW came out of nowhere and literally changed my life though. You and I had a few conversation, I dont remember what, but I have distincty memories of us chatting it up at the solo camper's shade. I also remember the first time I saw you, we were in the coachella grounds and were like "Hey!" and you wished me a happy birthday! :pulse!

also, I've added Wilco onto my evergrowing list of music to check out, I have skybluesky and summerteeth (and I think a ghost is born). Just wanted to let you know since you're my resident wilco expert.

Thanks Salah! I understand being drawn to the PAW group. I kinda like all of the different camping groups and I liked that we were all next to eachother as well. Enjoy the Wilco and if I can suggest the most played out and critically acclaimed wilco album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot". It changed my life and I can't even listen to it anymore i played it so much. I had a killer mix cd I made with nothing but Wilco and Beck. You would have dug it and it would have been a perfect intro for you to Wilco. Oh well, I lost it a while back.

anyway thanks for letting me know :)

If I were posited the Klosterman question, it would be no doubt that I'd not allow the Alice In Chains thing to happen. Any Soul Mate of mine would know that the Alice in Chains thing would be perpetual torture for me, whereas theirs is a semi-frequent, but not permanent, discomfort. Plus, they could totally dope up before the attack and not even feel it.

I have no idea how to find you!!

You mean my good friend Tina? I love that little slut, of course I "party"

Hmm, I havent seen him at any of the meetings. To be honest, names and faces arent really important

This is a tough one, keep in mind, also, a lot of my pictures arent on my comp, so with what I've got, it might be this

This needs mutlple answers. Of course I would go back and see Bowie, Zep, Beatles, Prince etc. etc. But I NEED to go back (in the DeLorean of course) and catch Beck from every one of his tours. The New Beck that he would debut with each new album. mmm and definitely Zep. If I had to choose one, MAYBE Zep

whoa! a cereal question!

I'd been partially out since 7th grade (back when I thought I was bi-ish), meaning my friends and such knew but my family didnt. I "officially" came out to them earlier this year and no one was fucking surprised. They were all like "uhh, yeah and.....". I still feel a little weird about it though

Yeah they get more and more savvy to the drugz. My mom knew about the first time I did acid but she thinks I havent done it since. Although i'm fairly sure shes hip to the fact that theres a lot of substances found at all these music festivals. teehee

Last question (from me anyway): At the height of their career, you get the performer's version of a flawless show, royal treatment, and you get to do whatever you want to them until sunrise. Beck or Bowie?

- Favorite Starbucks drink? (sorry if this is a repeat)
- You hate Miami, right? Which major cities in the US do you think are worse than Miami?

I hate to be all cliche but it's gotta be John, although it is a tough choice. I just love what John stood for and fought for. I love his voice, his hair, his glasses. He's just Love. (but no desrespect to the others)

Greatest a. Album? b. Song? c. Live Performance You've Seen?

I just cannot answer this question. I have no "greatest album/song", like all of you I have many many many. But it is true about the white stripes @ Bonnaroo. Best show so far.

Greatest film of all-time?/Most favorite movie of all-time?

http://www.artscouncilbuffalo.org/rocky-horror-picture-show.jpg

Ingrid Bergman or Monica Vitti?

Definitley Bergman

Music or Film?

As a kiddie growing up it was all about filmfilmfilm. As of late its been music, I mean I still love film but I go to the movies soo infrequently now. I used to go every week really, not its very sporadic. Last movie I saw was "W" and before that it was "Dark Knight"(that was like 3 months ago!!)

Overall in food: Italian or American or Chinese or Japanese or Thai or French or Carribbean or Mediterranean or Swedish or Indian?

You're NOT a big fan of pizza?? Huuuuhhhh?? For me it's gotta be a toss-up between Italian and Chinese/Japanese. The French know how to make a killer dessert though. But some of my favorite food is stuff you didnt list, cuban and colombian (viva colombia!).

Favorite Starbucks drink? (sorry if this is a repeat)
Not a repeat but grrr to spelling out the name, from now on can we please call it Starfux or something similar. As far as favorite drink goes, I love my iced grande caramel macchiato w/soy milk and sweetened black ice tea w/lemonade. mmm good stuff right there

- Rank the following cities in order (your most thru least love): London, New York, Rome, San Francisco, Tokyo

Take this with a grain of salt considering I have not been to any of those cities, but i'll use whatever knowledge I have of each city.
1)London (british accents!!!)
2)San Francisco (it seems like so much fun)
3)Rome (yum)
4)Tokyo (i'm scared to visit, it seems too intense)
5)NY (ehh, fuck that place)

You hate Miami, right? Which major cities in the US do you think are worse than Miami?

I despise Miami with every fiber of my being! I have a feeling NY could be worse (in my opinion). To be honest I have not visited LOADS of major cities but I cant remember visiting any place where I though "Wow! This is worse than Miami!". It's a tough city to beat

Your Top 10 Favorite Coachella Board Members?

Salah has already chosen the next person. So basically the person who was chosen picks the next person. Salah chose Dylanja, so it's now up to Salah to introduce Dylan and give the reason why he chose him and ask him a few questoins. The it begins.

Salah....go!

We're still on Salah? I'm seriously really hyped for Coachella '09 because, well, I will have people to actually meet and share the good times I usually have with my cadre of diehard friends who are brave enough to go.

Also, hyped to learn more about Mr. D.

No, I'm donedonedone, no milking. I have nothing left to offer you people.

I dont think Dylanja frequents this thread, we need to get his attention. Anyway....

Senor Dylanja, I would like to learn more about you. You're one of the funnier people on here who I talk to on a semi-frequent basis and literally know nothing about. First question, you said you used to make chillums, I'm curious about that. Please, indulge us.

*also, in case Dylanja doest care to answer/has a life, my backup boardie will be woogie. Just cuz..

do you enjoy the word bitch enough to put it twice in your signature or do you just like it when suprefan says it?

My birthday is indeed April 23rd, it is shared with William Shakespeare, Shirley Temple and Salah.

I used to work for Chameleon Glass (pretty big company). I made pipes, chillums, bubblers etc. The job was cool in that I was taught how to blow glass, however sitting in a warehouse over a 6,000 degree torch in Phoenix in the summer was beyond brutal. It truly was like working in a sweat shop, no regrets tho. Just another trade under my belt.

In the US it would be NYC, I went when I was a baby but do remember any of it. Apparently I was such a good traveling tot that the day after we got back home my parents woke up to find me strapped into car seat all on my own...

Truthfully I'd love to travel anywhere, I think you learn so much traveling without even realizing it. I really want to go to Iceland, all of Europe, Australia, New Zealand and anywhere in between.

It cracks me up that if Supre types "bitch" he's about to blow a fuse! He won't type any other curse word so if you pushed him to this, you've really upset him and if you look at the context of his usage it's just hilarious and might be the first sign of him stepping out...

What quality do you most despise in a person?

Dishonesty, I know everybody fucks up, man up and admit it. It only hurts your cause if someone later finds out you were lying.

5. Office Space/Half Baked

Assman, for sure.

I respect vegans and their choice of lifestyle, it's something I could never do. I appreciate their consciousness towards animal rights and the environment however I don't like them pushing their beliefs towards other people. For that matter I don't like anyone pushing their beliefs on anyone else, that is another pet peeve of mine.

Have you ever hooked up with a married woman? And how do you feel about that?

I don't know if she was married but when I was 19 and living in Telluride, CO I hooked up with a 37 year old slute! A horrible fake ID got me into a bar and I was playing pool waiting for my turn to shoot and all of the sudden I feel a tongue in my ear. I shouldn't go on, this is one of my more embarrassing stories....
