Curses! After a particularly crazy Bad Religion show in 2006 (Vancouver) I had a fair bit of blood down the front of a 2003 warped tour t-shirt. I threw the t-shirt away soon after and the picture died with an old cell phone. Too bad, it was pretty a sweet shot.

I found a website freshman year of high school that sold indie and old punk band t's, and thus I never wore anything other than obscure band shirts for the last three years of high school. Branched out in college. I still wear maybe 7 of them in my two weeks rotation

i have such a beef with band tees.

the girl shirts are either too small or not long enough. and the guys shirts are so huge at the sleeves, i look like a pillowcase. i wish more people would use AA for the shirts...i don't want to be a giant pillow.

that being said i'm pretty sure i have shirts from

I used to have hundreds of records, then they all got stolen or lost. Now I figure the only reason to buy vinyl is if yr a curmudgeonly dj, or collect them for fun. Concert tees are a collectible memento that you can wear, they also make it more likely that you will attract people with similar taste in music.

I can't tell you how many girls I have dated just because of the band or festival on my tee.

You were at Vegoose! Man I would have loved to meet up with you man, I was also at the L.A. show. So I have like 4 of the Alive 2008 tees. They ALWAYS get mad attention.

Did you go to the MSTRKRFT show at Revolution after Vegoose was over?

We must have been partying together then...i was at LA, as well as vegoose (obviously)...several other members from the board were as well.

I was staying at that hotel, and definitely raged my face off with MSTRKRFT at the revolution bar. (From 2am - 6am???i cant recall exactly)...but it was SO SMALL AND SO AWESOME.

Were you there in beginning? I had already been awake for some 50 hours at that point, but the one thing i will never forget is when they took down the red ropes around the stage and everyone rushed it...that was amazing.

Oh yes. The most recent Radiohead IR tour tee "You'll go to hell for what your dirty mind is thinking" gets a lot of fun comments. My favorite was a cute girl sitting at the bar as I'm waiting for my drink. We had made eye contact a moment before so when I got my drink and looked back at her she looks at my t-shirt, looks up at me and with little grin says "will I?" That was a good night.

I love me some band tees, but never have the cash.

I love Metric, and I'd love my blue Metric t-shirt, it wasn't cut for some sort of drainpipe shaped mutant boy-woman. Not flattering.

On the other hand, my Hedrons t shirt looks awesome, but... well, have you ever heard of the Hedrons? Yeah, exactly.

My Arcade Fire hoody is masterfully designed for hangover days and falling asleep during lectures, because it's the most comfortable piece of clothing I own. Alas, the big fucking bibles on the shoulders make you look like a member of Heaven's Gate. As comfortable as it is, I can never relax in it. I'm always keeping an eye out for the ATF.

My grey Arcade Fire shirt, I love; for many reasons, but mainly because it means I can make jokes about huge pipe organs all day. And I do.

Yes, those trains are my dad's doing. He's huge on all that HO and N scale model trains and cars.....I try to tell him to keep it all in one room, but he keeps trying to spread them all across the house. There's a whole extra room with just model railroad stuff in it.

mountmccabe
10-15-2008, 11:31 AM
I have never spent $40 on a band t-shirt. I maybe spent $25 each on my Yes and Queensryche shirts (14 years ago, jftr.)

But yeah, it was great when I learned that smaller touring bands sold their merch for reasonable prices with shirts often at $10 or $12. I balk at paying even $20 anymore.

Though to be fair I might've paid $20 for the JAMC shirt at Coachella but... it is JAMC. I don't think any other band could command that from me.

sbessiso

$25 is what I usually find now, and that's if I'm lucky. I spent $35 on my PrinceChella tee, but that was birthday money given to me specifically to get a Prince shirt.

The Radiohead merch booth was a little traumatizing for me, 5 months later and I'm still shocked at the $40 price tag. After I spent like $70 on the ticket itself! But I digress

Beck had shirts for $25! Hurray!

amyzzz

I spent $40 on a Coldplay shirt, but it has 3/4 sleeves and is wicked cool (to me anyway). I paid $35 for the Radiohead shirt this year, and I bought a Radiohead shirt for my husband through WASTE last Christmas for about $40 because of the money conversion. :/ (was 20 pounds)

I usually try to buy shirts only if I like them, but there have been times when I've been so excited about the band that I HAVE to buy a shirt, so I buy the least sucky one. SO I have TONS of concert t-shirts. I even gave away some old ones to Goodwill.

i hate this thread. not because of its contents, but because it reminds me of all my sweet tees gone to waste.
about a year ago i was cleaning my room and had all my concert tees lying on my bed. i usually washed all my tees separate from everything else. one day i left for school or something, only to come back and find my grandma had gone through my room and washed my tees. iunno what she did, but my tees all ended up faded and shrunken. grr.

plus, i rarely buy concert tees anymore because they don't go pass XL.

Yes, I heart that Wedding Present tee. IIRC, David Gedge lived in Seattle for a while and it influenced a lot of material.

That is indeed a Neil Young tee. I got it on his Autumn / Winter tour last year when he played in Portland. I'd love to go to see him tomorrow in Everett, WA but I need to be prudent with my $ right now.
