Yes? No? Anybody?

I would die to see them, let alone on the polo fields.
Would be great in the Mohave, hell, ANY time of day.

Am I alone?

(This isn't a rumor thread, a wishlist thread)

I'm with you.
They deserve to be huge.

I really have no idea how they're not as famous as their other Montreal/Toronto counterparts... not enough time I guess? But I like it that way.

Except for the fact that they never play SAN DIEGO and if they ever did it would be 21 AND UP!

C'mon Paul T. You know what a hit they'd be!

bumping this thread because it appears their 2010 release may end up giving them them the love they sorely deserve. plus, they are touring in the spring so i'm hoping we can get some reviews up in this thread.

i was just recently turned on to them from this board (thanks) and love "roaring night!" i just listened to the first half of "dark horse" just now and really like the heavier guitars on that one. need to listen more to figure out which one i like better (likely "roaring").

so, has anyone seen them live yet? and, yes...they indeed need to be on the bill next year!

The 2nd album is definitely my favourite of the three, and they are well worth checking out live.

(you never replied to my query about why you didn't enjoy the these new puritans show...i'm genuinely curious)

"Devastation" would easily make my top 100 songs of the 00s if I were to make such a thing.

These New Puritans live = Art School Masturbation. The singer was shockingly poor, and the rest of them looked truly bored. To be fair, the drummer wasn't too bad. It was all very loud and very dull.

wow, that's really a bummer. do you think it was an off night or what one can typically expect from them? i'm only dwelling because i just love "hidden."

(sorry for getting us off track here, folks)

the TBD is a free show at Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. it will be the first installement of new music mondays for the summer.

i guess we will have to move forward off the lawn and abandon all wine for this one.

Middle East is at lincoln hall later that night.

feels good.

pritzker (in case you haven't been yet). they have music here everyday in the summer at noon also. schedule should be out sooner than later.

The Talaske Group of Oak Park, Illinois was the subcontractor for Jay Pritzker Pavilion's LARES sound system, which "generates the reflected and reverberant energy that surrounds and envelops the listener in an indoor performance venue". The system, which effectively produces an even quality of sound throughout the entire venue, has received critical acclaim for its technological adaptations, such as signal processing in a variety of indoor and outdoor venues. The Pritzker Pavilion is the first permanent outdoor installation of the LARES system in the United States. The trellis has both acoustic and architectural functions; it allows for the precise placement of speakers for sound optimization without visual obstructions, while simultaneously providing a unifying visual canopy.

The Besnard Lakes announce new EP, fall tour

Listening to Montreal rockers The Besnard Lakes conveys a sense nostalgia, with their dreamy pop hooks and ambient vocals. Undoubtedly that’s one of the reasons why the band was asked to contribute to a new multimedia documentary called Welcome to Pine Point. According to an issued press release, the project combines video footage, artwork, photographs, and music on a web interface to tell the story of Pine Point, a Canadian mining town that was all but wiped out after its zinc mine closed.

Welcome to Pine Point Co-Director Michael Simmons, a former resident of the town, asked his longtime friend and Besnard frontman Jace Lase to contribute to the soundtrack. The end result, a 12″ EP titled You Lived in The City, is available at the band’s upcoming tour dates, or by mail order through SC Distribution, beginning September 20th. The effort includes originals songs and a cover of “We’re Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time)” from fellow-Canadians Trooper, as well as the exclusive track “The Corner”, which was written and later cut from the yet-to-be-released French film, Memories Corner.

As for those aforementioned tour dates, you can find them listed below:

You Lived in The City Tracklist:

I saw them in Boston a couple of months ago to a crowd of about 25 people. They rocked it for over an hour and a half. The few people in attendance were loving it, including myself. Olga is fantastic.
