a lot of people want them, passive.

downtempo/trip hop is not as underground/underrated as you think it is.

downtempo/trip hop is not as underground/underrated as you think it is.

It isn't if you've appeared on a major motion picture soundtrack (Thievery Corporation, Zero 7, Frou Frou) or if you've WRITTEN one (Air, Massive Attack, Portishead).

But, seriously, besides those 6 (and maybe Morcheeba and Sneaker Pimps, I guess), most trip-hop/downtempo bands are fucking unheard of to the average listener. Case in point, Hooverphonic, who I had on my first create-a-festival poster and who wasn't a talking point at ALL as a positive for my poster. Same thing for Supreme Beings of Leisure (I only remember MassiveChemicalPunk being excited about them).

So, yeah, Hooverphonic is vastly underrated unless you listen to Big Sonic _____.

I say hooverphonic sounds like the name of a blowjob machine.

i put hooverphonic in my festival as well. i think they were 8th, 9th line in the poster and you said they should be lower.

they opened for fiona apple in the 90s, they were asked to make a song for the opening ceremony of the euro 2000, and because of their success they headlined rock werchter in 2001. they are pretty well known. perhaps not at a portishead level, but they are not "underground" by any means.

Any good trip-hop/downtempo deserves to be at Coachella. Taking a listen to Hooverphonic right now and so far I totally think they should be there.

actually Geike is leaving the band so I dont see them as an option because no one is going to want them to be at Coachella if the singer for the last 10yrs isnt involved.
