now for all of u haters, its expected. so dont get all fucking butthurt. i have my sources and i will never reveal( just go back and take a look at the prince thread and as soon as i got the word i tried to give some of u haters the hint but i understand... i love this board so im giving u info that could be legit but its only a rumor and a interest lineup so what is official is between the bands and promoters. so its for fun and that all i wil say for now. but it is interesting the bands that are on the list... interesting!! :)

In all reality, I'd be so down with that line-up. The triple threat of Devo, Wire, Byrne/Eno alone would make me synthesize in my pants a little bit.

There are way too many subhead-level bands and a few too many headline bands for this to be even close to legit. Although some of these names made me imagine salivating if I were to take them seriously.

To be fair guys, he did just say these were acts that are rumoured to be in the running. Not acts rumoured to be confirmed. So this is not the rumoured line up.
Overall, there are a few gems that I would love to see there... but there are also a ton of bands on that list I could care less about. With all that being said...

is scooper the one that said dates would be announced just after apw?

Haha, yes.

The Sahara headliners would be mint anyway. And would they be opening a random top 40 hip-hop stage? Snoop, Nas, Busta? WTF?

Honestly, half of that list is total DO NOT WANT status.

As unrealistic as BoC seems to be everything, I bet Godspeed is even more unrealistic.

I'm sure the list will have a decently high accuracy rate, but I think most people's huge lineup lists would be fairly accurate.

Also, the Replacements? Has his hand finally healed enough to play guitar again?

in Spin they were saying that they were this close to reuniting at Coachella last year but ultimately decided that they didn't have enough time to do it right. They even had a lineup ready and everything.

Shooters08
09-22-2008, 11:47 PM
If this is the best that is "rumored" to be at '09 then I am truly disappointed. There is a lot of good new music out and not a lot of it is on that list. You would think for such a big year this is gonna be we would see a more powerful and creative lineup. Rather than bringing back average acts time and time again. I hope that Golden Voice can put together a show that is worthy of the 10th anniversary. Also a suggestion for the Sahara tent, The Japanese Popstars out of Ireland. God also told me that you should of put Oasis as a possibility. If they don't kill each other it's probably a guarantee.

is scooper the one that said dates would be announced just after apw?

Yeah, and he also said that Coachella would be a four day affair... so, when the dates are announced and it's still a three day festival, this full list will be mostly invalid.

Granted, with a list that big, a few will be in the lineup for sure, but if you throw everything against a wall, something's bound to stick! ;)

I also noticed a) No Hercules and Love Affair? WTF? and 2) While a lot of great bands are named, I don't see anyone in there who's THAT big of a headliner. After years of great headliners and one snafu ( Jack Johnson, I know you are a board punching bag, but you're just so good at it! ), I kinda doubt this line up is 100% accurate.

Kudos on putting the Replacements on there, but after that SPIN article a few months back, ANYONE could have guessed that.

sorry man, but Paul T himself said he's "not a big anniversary person" or something like that.

Basically, don't expect a stellar lineup that'll make your head explode.

No! aren't they the band of Cello players from Finland?

Wiki
EDIT:

Apocalyptica is a Finnish cello metal band, composed of classically trained cellists and, since 2005, a drummer. Three of the cellists are graduates of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. Their music features elements from classical music, neo-classical metal,[1] thrash metal, and symphonic metal.

I could see both apocalyptica and the offspring at coachella. the offspring moreso. anyone who caught part of flogging molly this year will understand how much fun it could be to have them in that slot. they're a lot of fun live. about 80% of their live material is americana and before. dexter can still sing without it being painful to watch, and noodles, if anything, has improved on guitar drastically over the years.

apocalyptica... well, shit. back when it was just dudes, chairs, cellos, and flapping long hair, it was pretty cool to listen to. I've had some great little wormhole-through-deep-space trips listening to apocalyptica. but they've employed one of the vocalists (I refuse to call them singers) of I think slipknot. and a drummer. so they've killed the dark, foreboding, yet clean sound that defined them in favor of being just another novelty metal act

I hate watching shit like this. As much as I hate certain bands, there's absolutely nothing that would compel me to throw something at a live performer. Hell, even booing and jeering are terrible. If you don't like a band, leave the god damn mother fucking stage. If it's not a festival, then you're a fucking retard for willingly watching something that you don't like.

It's not cool, it's not edgy, it's not hardcore...it's just pathetic.

edit: that tirade was not directed at you Pilgrim...unless you're the douche in the video. :)

ahhaha nope, wasn't me.
although I have thrown something at a band on stage, I don't think there's anyone who would disagree with what I did:
I tossed a bottle of warm piss at good charlotte. a PLASTIC bottle, mind you. I wanted to piss them off, not get arrested for attempted homicide.
it smacked onto the front rim of the bass drum, right on the corner, and the top popped off. it was great.

It's lacking Zeppelin and Daft, both of which I can practically guarantee.

I can practically guarantee them as well along with Bowie. I can't practically guarantee much more though other than Portishead j(full set) NIN and The White Stripes. That is all I have except I heard No Doubt should probably be there too but I don't know much else, well maybe Talking Heads. That's all I have though besides possibly Radiohead who may or may not be there but I do know the Chemical Brothers vs. Daft Punk is going to take place on the main stage on Thursday night. So far.

ahhaha nope, wasn't me.
although I have thrown something at a band on stage, I don't think there's anyone who would disagree with what I did:
I tossed a bottle of warm piss at good charlotte. a PLASTIC bottle, mind you. I wanted to piss them off, not get arrested for attempted homicide.
it smacked onto the front rim of the bass drum, right on the corner, and the top popped off. it was great.

The only thing I've ever thrown at an artist was a half full Dasani bottle. I can't even remember the bands name, it was one of those bullshit pop-punk bands just emerging at Warped Tour '03... shit...haha Simple Plan. Had to look that one up just now.

Anyway, I hated that they were making a mockery out of my favorite genre at the time. It was probably a lame thing to do but not as lame as Simple Plan.

I can pretty much guarantee that some of those bands will be on the lineup. How many of them have an album that just and/or will be dropped by then? That means they're touring. And as for headliners I can see Lindsay Buckingham/Fleetwood Mac on Fri. The Pretenders on Sat., and (pray to f'n god) Zeppelin on Sun. Those are all seminal acts, already in the rock hall of fame. I don't think you'll see Daft again this soon - esp. if they're done with the pyramid and going back to the drawing board.

If they could get Stevie Knicks to play with Fleetwood again, that would be the kind of legendary shit that Coachella is known for.

You would probably see, oh I don't know, 400 gazillion tickets sold in about 3 seconds with headliners like that. (And I'd pretty much sell my soul for one).

Fucking chills down my spine!

However, I'm not sure the main stage at Coachella could maintain that kind of intense energy. Sure, from the stage out to about 75 meters or so would be insane, but beyond that you get casual observers, people text messaging, or worse, people sitting down! It's always been my one and only complaint about Coachella (mainstage apathy beyond 100 meters...save Rage in 2007). Which is why bands like The Prodigy, Daft Punk, Kraftwerk, The Orb, Underworld, Chemical Brothers, etc belong in an enlarged Sahara.

arent real-life actual gay weddings going on in California as we speak?

yeah but California doesn't really exist...

The name California is most commonly believed to have derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia. The myth of Califia is recorded in a 1510 work The Exploits of Esplandian, written as a sequel to Amadís de Gaula by Spanish adventure writer García Ordóñez Rodríguez de Montalvo.[4] The kingdom of Queen Califia, according to Montalvo, was said to be a remote land inhabited by griffins and other strange beasts and rich in gold.

The only thing that could make a Panic at the Disco show decent at best would be if Kevin Shields and co. came onstage 10 seconds into the show, kicking out PatD, and then went straight into the white noise, deafening all of the 11 year olds in the audience.

and I'd rather be forced to listen to a hippie drum circle, or another ed banger act, than ever put up with ten seconds of panic at the disco >.<

Jack Johnson all the way, when you're on enough acid that shit is intense

Panic, MCR, and Fall Out Boy can headline Eyelineremochella

Spin puts Fall Out Boy on their cover at least once a year and then they wonder why nobody actually pays for a subscription.

Bwahahaha.

Be careful. We got JJ this year as headliner. JJ would've been fine if he was not the main headliner.

But would enough fans of those bands get their parents' permission to attend? How many allowances would it cost?

bullokz

They will allow their kids to attend. Those EMO kids will threaten their parents that they'd commit suicide if they stop or not let/support them do anything.

????????

Robert Plant is Zep's singer.

I was joking about Bowie, people. Although I do find it odd that David Byrne played Bonnaroo back when it as all jam based. I see next year's Broo headliners consisting of Phish, The Dead and some non-jamband.

It's in the rumor stages right now that Zep might tour without Plant...The rumor came from the sun so the changes of being reliable are questionable but you never know.

Zeppelin To Sail Without Plant?
Tuesday, Sep 23, 2008 10:06AM

Led Zeppelin is considering going on a reunion tour without former frontman Robert Plant, according to the Sun.
The paper claims Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham, the remaining members of the band, have given the singer an ultimatum to either join them or be replaced.
The story says they have been rehearsing at London’s Ritz Studio using stand-in vocalists. It quotes an unidentified source saying one of them – an American – has been so impressive the other band members are confident they could hit the road without their original frontman.
Plant, who has been working with U.S. singer Alison Krauss, hasn’t ruled out another reunion, but he has told GQ magazine that bureaucracy is what puts him off the idea.
“The endless paperwork was like nothing I’ve experienced before,” he told the U.K. style magazine. “I’ve kept every one of the e-mails that were exchanged before the concert and I’m thinking of compiling them for a book, which I feel sure would be hailed as a sort of literary version of Spinal Tap.” - John Gammon

It should also be noted that the most recent Led Zep rumor out there (also coming from the Sun) is that Plant has come to his senses and has joined back up with the rest of the gang. Apparently a world tour is being planned for next summer.

Of course, it's all one big rumor.

If Zeppelin is coming to Coachella next year, I hope like shit something else worthwhile is going on somewhere else. I guess the churro line would be pretty short.

“It‘s both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to
rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward,” Robert Plant said.

“I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects,” he added. (http://www.robertplant.com/index.php?l1=2&l2=0&%23038;l3=0&%23038;articleID=186&%23038;rt=NE&%23038;PHPSESSID=562c0f62231bdb48b84ce44cffb7c24d)

What a fucking douchebag. Why bother reuniting for only one show that 99.99% of your fans never had a chance in hell of ever seeing?

because in two years, the music industry's format-based mini-recession will be more or less over, the price of oil will be back down, and they'll be able to do a zeppelin album and tour, and make hundreds of millions of dollars!
:)

or maybe he's got a lot of emotional issues revolving around zeppelin that need some time to work themselves out.

who knows?

he didnt' say he'd never play with zep again, only that he has 'no plans for the next two years'. I guess at that stage in your career, 2 years is a reasonable sabbatical to take after touring the world

i think panic at the disco are a decent band but their management is shitty in the u.s cuz they lump them in with horrible package tours and corporate deals.. i watched some of thier set from glastonbury on tv and it was very straightforward and if u take away the gimmicks, it was a decent set... so their u.s management needs to get them into some of these festivals and strip down the bullshit...
