So this is really nerdy. But I thought of it and I can't stop thinking about it, so I thought I would bring it to the attention of the board.

I simply thought: "How great would it be if Radiohead did an album of Portishead songs and Portishead did an album of Radiohead songs?"

Intriguing, yes?

So there's the premise. My question to you all now is:
1. What Radiohead songs would you like to hear Portishead cover?
2. What Portishead songs would you like to hear Radiohead cover?

Here's what I got so far:

Portishead:
Life in a Glass House
You and Whose Army?
Climbing Up The Walls
Exit Music (For a Film)
No Surprises (much in the style of 'Deep Water')
The Tourist
Lucky
We Suck Young Blood
Sail to the Moon
Pyramid Song

Radiohead:
Cowboys
Threads
Machine Gun
Elysium
Sour Times (Roseland NYC cd version)
Seven Months
Half Day Closing

What do you think?
Orgasm worthy?

How could you leave out The Rip? Radiohead's cover is fucking incredible.

I will go with 6 songs each...

Portishead:
Fake Plastic Trees
The Gloaming
Everything In Its Right Place
Idioteque
All I Need
Exit Music (For A Film) <- I am not sure if I would ever listen to music again after this.

Radiohead:
The Rip
Roads
Seven Months
Sour Times
Glory Box
We Carry On

I think Idioteque would be too fast for Beth. It just wouldn't sound right hearing her vocals at that kind of tempo or something. I dont know, I just don't see that one happening.

Portishead could slow it down if they wanted too.

Portishead could indeed slow it down.

I think the coolest cover they could pull off would be 4 Minute Warning though. The lyrics of that song sound like they could have originally been written by Beth.

This is a brilliant thread idea. Lets hope somehow, someway this even remotely comes true...

(Songs not necessarily in order)
Portishead:
Talk Show Host
Karma Police
Videotape
Morning Bell
EIIRP
The Gloaming
Reckoner
All I Need
Nude
We Suck Young Blood

Radiohead:
Machine Gun!!!! -Johnny could go to town with that beat
Wandering Star
We Carry On
Mysterons
Silence
The Rip
Pedestal
Glory Box -I want to hear Thom sing "I just wanna be a woman" :)
Small
Over

Backwater

Yeah, Idioteque would be terrible. If they slowed it down it would be stupid because the coolest thing about that song is how fast and crazy Thom gets.

Radiohead could cover any Portishead song and pull it off. Portishead could only cover about half (if that) of Radiohead's catalog with any kind of credibility. But hearing them try to do Electioneering or My Iron Lung or I Might Be Wrong would be trainwreck.
