View Full Version : The Triumphant Return of Scissor Sisters!

They killed it in 2006, can't remember who they conflicted with but it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. They were flawless in every sense! They closed the outdoor theater sunday night in 06, they would surely be mainstage next year. Sunset would be ideal.

Kickass blend of piano pop, disco/glam rock and one hell of a falsetto. Also one of those bands that plays the songs differently than the album. Filthy/Gorgeous doesn't even compare, it rocks SO HARD live.

Trust me on this guys, I'm listening to you on Tool, trying to do Arcade Fire. Maybe even Muse. Repay the favor

If you cannot enjoy a Scissor Sisters show, there is something massively and seriously wrong with you, right in your brain.

Became unintentionally infamous-by-proxy here after their name became attached to a pair of sisters who murdered and dismembered a guy. For a few weird months, everywhere you went you got headlines about the Scissor Sisters being sentenced to life in jail or whatever.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/murder-mutilation-and-dismemberment-ireland-transfixed-by-scissor-sisters-case-422436.html

I'm told the band were both amused and a little flattered.

I know. I didn't want to say anything. All Tool discussion aside, Scissor Sisters put on an amazing live show. They were PERFECT. Very tight sounding, very well rehearsed, the sound quality was top-notch. Singer Jake Shears' falsetto never once cracked. I wish you guys would give them a chance

10-15-2008, 09:58 PM
I am not going to lie, there are 2 reasons why i did not see tool

1. My dad thought i was to young to go into that sort of crowd and thought i would get moshed to death

2. There is no Tool on iTunes so i had never heard any of it.

i first heard Scissor Sisters in London. they had ads everywhere and i thought hey why not buy some CD by a band big in the UK. In fact they were one of the main reasons i went to Coachella, which was my first coachella ever, so i owe a lot to the scissor sisters and their ad outside the london dungeons haha

They killed it in 2006, can't remember who they conflicted with but it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Besides Tool, Art Brut was playing to about 50 people in the Mojave and Michael Mayer was playing to about 100 in the Sahara. I'm not sure about the Gobi.(maybe Gilles Peterson?). After Madonna played, it seemed like everyone either left or went to watch Tool. I am only a casual Tool fan, so I spent the end of that Sunday night running around the mostly empy polo grounds. I saw parts of all the performances at the end of that night.

I'll see your bump and raise you a grind.

Sunday 2006 WAS fun - Madonna and Scissor Sisters had the gays out in full force that day. And Tool ...eh. To each his or her or its own, but I was amused by the contrast. I made sure I was front and center for Mika in 2007 and was surprised to be standing with a bunch of Rage fans. Mika was on like at 1 or 1:30, so the Rage guys were going to stand there all day I guess. Hardcore.

ah, the memories.

Even though Madonna sucked, I felt the gay pride that night. ESPECIALLY during scissor sisters.

Listening to "Tah-Dah!" yesterday I had the greatest fantasy. So they don't play Coachella, fine. But on February 3rd when the lineup is announced, we'll see them on the Bonnaroo poster!! They're PERFECT for the Which Stage.

I vote for the Scissor Sisters in 2010 as a supporting act on the main stage, with someone kind of twisted and fun coming on after them, maybe Daft Punk. I am kind of a groupie and have seen them around 8 times. They were awesome that night with TheGo! Team opening for them. Normally on Sunday I am exhausted and want to lay down and watch a show. I think I had shin splints from jumping around. Probably need leg warmers for the next go around. When is the new album coming outttttttttt??????

The Scissor Sisters Minneapolis tour stop in December 2005 in the middle of one of the worst blizzards I've ever remembered was probably one of the craziest drunken nights ever... It unfortunately didn't involve any action from Ana-matronic or the other band members, but Salah I can give you story time if you want it.

They just did a couple of secret shows in NYC, pretty much performed the entire new album that should be coming out early next year. I wasn't able to go but a friend did and said it was an awesome time. Babydaddy sings lead on one of the songs and Ana is looking very hot!!!
Would love to see em at Chella again.

So I wonder whatever happened to this song with babydaddy on lead?? Wouldve been awesome to have his own song. I guess a lot of that session was scrapped?

Boourns needs to give them another listen.

Well he did catch them with me and a few other boardies at Glasto and LOVED it. Success.

I think its going to be great exposure for them. All those queerbait GaGa fans that have never heard of Scissor Sisters are gunna get massive erections in their girl pants once they experience the show.

wow, that's so lovely.

Closing the outdoor in 06 was glorious. Hopefully this year Ana Matronic won't tell the crowd this is the last coachella on the polo grounds like she did that year.

YES!! So is it possible forgiveable that I skipped TOOL for them? I had such a blast man, I would skip TOOL for them everytime

Unforgivable. Tool is one of those non conflict bands. It doesn't matter who is up against them I would pick Tool every time.

Now after saying that I am intrigued by this band.

AF makes you think?

I consider their music "cerebral". SS is more 2D for me musically/lyically, albiet a HELL of a lot of fun.

I saw both acts last September and cannot decide preference, though leaning toward SS here due to rarity in western Canada.
