per Yahoo:

A male passenger told KNBC-TV he boarded the Metrolink train in suburban Burbank and was talking with a fellow passenger when the crash occurred.

"Within an instant I was in my friend's lap. It was so quick. It was devastating," he said. The man was visibly injured, but able to walk with the aid of firefighters. The man said he was involved in a devastating 2005 Metrolink crash in Glendale and was talking about it with the other passenger when Friday's crash occurred.

At first it was 6 people dead and 10-15 injured, now they're reporting it as at least 15 dead and around 70 injured.

135 injured, possibly 20 dead...

there is a lesson in all this, always sit in the last car of the train.

Amtrak wasn't involved with this. It was a freight train.

i think the tunnel that that happened near is close to where my friend used to live. when we were kids we would stand above the tunnel and piss on the passing trains. one time he made me walk through the tunnel with him, it was one of the scariest moments of my life...

Investigators of a Los Angeles train wreck that killed 25 people are looking into reports that an engineer blamed for missing a stop signal light may have been distracted by text messaging moments before the crash, officials said on Monday.

Some 135 people were injured in the crash, more than 40 of them critically, in the deadliest U.S. rail tragedy in 15 years. Officials briefly raised the death toll to 26 on Monday before revising it back to 25.
