Next Gustav? So what, its going to be billed as a Cat. 5, storm of the century that was going to sink the Gulf Coast only to hit land as barely a Cat. 1?

Ike will fall to pieces after it passes through Cuba, just like Gustav...

the irony here being that Castro led his revolution in cuba during the Eisenhower administration.

I am watching the live video feed from the Galveston seawall on cnn.com. 200 miles away and it's already dramatic as hell. waves are crashing hard and splashing up onto Seawall Blvd which is like 10 feet above the beach. and there's dumb fuckers driving down the road!

I've spent a lot of time in Galveston (& have a client there now) so it's pretty weird thing to watch.

So, fox news has these tools on the beach who are completely drunk holding up fifths and drinking away as this storm is blasting in the background. The Fox news anchor is on the phone with the bartender. The bartender sounds drunk as hell. The anchor asks what they are still doing there when the National Weather service is calling for "certain death"....she says "ohh we're gonna be ok, we are watching the waves and it's just a little windy" anchor asks when they plan on leaving, she says "oh we'll leave when the Sheriff comes and shuts us down. Anchor "ma'am everyone is supposed to be evacuated you and everyone with you are facing death!"...bartender..."oh, ok, i'll let everyone know".....wtf is wrong with people?

They are also asking if you live near the coast and you decide you are staying, please write your social security number on your arm in permanent marker so they can identify your body later. They are saying this is going to be really fucking bad. Galviston is toast. Less than 12 hours, get the fuck out.

that's the Poop Deck. that bar has a tradition of riding out hurricanes and everyone (including staff) getting drunk.

Hooray for earthquakes and fires! Life in SoCal is easy.Earthquakes are a breeze...I'm just wondering when a sunami is gonna hit our coast...

We've had 6 warnings in pacifica and they just finished installing a sunami warning system that you can hear from one end of town to another...
