Marion “Suge” Knight was arrested in Las Vegas this morning after police say they found the hip hop mogul standing over a woman with a knife.
The 43-year-old was taken into custody on domestic abuse, assault with a deadly weapon and drug charges around 7 a.m. on Spring Mountain Road near Interstate 15.
According to police reports, Knight, 43, and the woman, who told authorities she is Knight’s girlfriend of three years, were fighting while he drove early this morning.
She punched Knight in the back of the head and jerked the steering wheel in “an effort to escape.”
The vehicle hit the curb and stopped at 3282 Spring Mountain Road. Both got out of the car and Knight gave chase before catching up to the victim, police said.
Police found the drugs ecstasy and hydrocodone on Knight when they arrested him. He was taken to the Clark County Detention Center.
He faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, battery domestic violence and possession of a controlled substance.
The alleged victim, who was not identified, was taken to Spring Valley Hospital. The extent of her injuries is unclear.
Knight is the co-founder of Death Row Records and was a former UNLV football player. He was also in the car during the 1996 drive-by murder of rapper Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas.
