1 Burn to an audio cd using itunes (the option is in the bottom right corner once you have selected the track)
2 Rip cd using winamp/cdex or a multitiude of other ripping programmes.
3 Done.

chris' method is the method I use. Except, you can actually reimport the CD you just burned right back into iTunes. Make sure your import settings are set to mp3.

download.com is very useful for this kind of thing. if you give me a few hours i can get you the actual program. cant now, at work.

Chris' method is also the only way I know to get around DRM.

if the .mp4 isn't protected, can't you just convert it straight to .mp3 in iTunes without having to use that CD burning method?

yes Erik's right.

I use the burning method cuz most of my m4's are protected (stuff I bought on the iTunes store).

... you people actually buy stuff through itunes?!

WHAT THE FUCK?!

I can almost, ALMOST understand dealing with apple's mind-bogglingly awful DRM, boosted dynamic range compression, and fidelity-crippling proprietary codecs when converting for use on your ipod (buying an ipod is a whole other matter which I won't get into here/again), but actually forking over MONEY to be soul-fucked in the ear canal by that shit?

you people need to grow some consumer backbone

I've never used it myself (not on a MAC) but I know lots who have. I don't know if it rips directly to mp3, or if you have to rip to wav (aiff) first then convert to mp3.

I'm going to buy Microcastle on iTunes because it's already up there and they deserve some money for all the listening that I've been doing so far. Also, that'll allow me to wait to buy the physical copy until I see them at the El Rey or (hopefully, but doubtfully) at the Forum.
