I dont know I love the fonda much more than the glass...but if its a lot closer to you I can see your point...I live like 12 minutes from the fonda though.

I live closer to the glass house, and I would still rather go to the Fonda. It's not a million degrees in there and I'm not surrounded by little kids. Plus, it's nice to enjoy a beer or two during a show.

Well I'm about 25 minutes away from The Glasshouse and about an hour away from the Fonda. I've only been to the Fonda once, but that was about 2 years ago, so don't remember much about it.

The Fonda is a great venue...like Trick says...

I've seen Atmosphere there twice, and both times have had nothing but fun. I don't expect anything less from the Faint, but we make our own experience when we go to a show.

still debating on whether to see them this friday

Trick Loves The Kids
08-05-2008, 04:40 PM
Openers were alright. Jaguar Love made me want to start a band, it was pretty much just the same drum beat for every song played off a CDJ while the dude played synth lines and the girl sang.

The Faint were pretty good. Todd had a crazy mad scientist outfit on. I don't want to ruin the setlist or anything but they played all their hits, about four new tracks, and they had some pretty crazy light/video things going on.

This is what the Fonda always says. Usually the first act doesn't go on until 9:30ish. That's from my experience, anyway. I wouldn't expect The Faint on before 11p.

The wait for Atmosphere that one time was forever. I'm sure we made the bartenders on the roof some extra dough lol. Oh man, a Friday show! No need to ponder calling in the next day--which, in itself, is a victory.

Ughhhh

Yeah, a show at the Fonda on a week night makes for a rough morning. Especially since they make the alcohol so accessible and give you plenty of time to drink it before the main act goes on stage. The roof even has a giant projection of the stage right next to the bar. Smoke, watch openers, and continue to drink...

I have a love/hate relationship with that place.

shows at the fonda usually start quite late, but i'm now a little gunshy about showing up too late since i went there to see hot chip on a friday or saturday night thinking that we could safely plan on getting there late and having to wait until 10:30 or 11 until they went on. we got there at 9:30 and had missed 30 mins of the set... boo!

Sonicifyouwantit
08-07-2008, 11:35 AM
yeah that happened to me at el rey, I showed up for Secret Machines around 10:30 to hear their last song from the front door since the door man wouldnt let me in that late...had to leave goldfrapp at the fonda because they just kept playing and playing

Paranoiattack
Glass Danse
four from the new album, including
Get Seduced
The Geeks Were Right
two more I can't remember
Birth
I Dissapear
Desperate Guys
Your Retro Career Melted

I think that's most of them. I might be missing a couple.

I'm pretty unfmailiar with the faint...theyre just a band i never really invested the time in, my buddy really wanted to go and i cant pass up a show. but holy shit they were pretty damn awesome. i dont know about the fonda shows but the crowd at the glasshouse totally lost their shit when they hit the stage and didnt stop dancing till the end.

thats a sweet video. makes me pissed off i had to see them at soma tonight. the lights wern't nearly as cool as those. soma is by far the worst venue ever! god i hate kids. sorry, but you little fuckers are annoying. besides all the douchebags though, the show was insane, as expected from those guys. they are just such a fun, energetic band to watch. its hard not to jump around and dance like crazy. it was hard to take pics in the front, since there was no way to hold my hand still, but i somehow managed to get a couple semi-decent shots:

i wish i had known. but i was so soaking wet after being in the pit i had no business being out anywhere, and now that im home and showered, i dont think im makin in out again... :(

plus, i was just at the casbah last night to see Transfer, who by the way, is awesome, and i think they should play coachella. random thought, but man, i didnt know much about them till i found out i was going to their show yesterday, so listened to shit on their myspace and really liked it, then they also killed it live.

they opened with agenda suicide:

Set list from San Diego:

Agenda Suicide
Drop Kick The Punks
Take Me To The Hospital
Machine In The Ghost
Desperate Guys
Forever Growing Centipedes
Birth
Your Retro Career Melted
I Treat You Wrong
Psycho
Posed To Death
Get Seduced
I Disappear
In Concert
Mirror Error
Worked Up So Sexual
------------------------
Paranoiattack
The Geeks Were Right
Glass Danse

New stuff sounded good. I was a little bummed that the projections weren't as well utilized as on previous tours. They probably don't have video for the new songs yet. Black screens still don't cut it though.
