View Full Version : What is your favorite concert recording?

Wheres the beef?
07-30-2008, 02:57 PM
I'm a big fan of live recordings. It even got me into recording just because I was sick of going to a show and wishing I could hear it later. Then to search the internet for an eternity looking desperately to reconnect with my experiences at the concert. I know a lot of you enjoy live recordings. I actually prefer them over studio albums (very few exceptions).

My current favorites are:
Tool - Reno - 11/23/02 (was there)
Cut Copy - Coachella 08
Glitch Mob - EDC (was there)
Rabbit In The Moon - EDC (was there)
Daft Punk - Vegoose (was there)
Pink Floyd - Echoes In The Gardens
Orbital - Final Performance @ Maida Vale
Chemical Brothers - SF Concourse - 9/28/07

What are some of your favorites?

i still listen to the pixies coach '04 performance i bought after the show at the show.

been listening to a lot of white strips live at blackpool, too. also recently found a recording of the first show of theirs i went to back in 2002 at the glasshouse, pretty quality recording.

- Kraftwerk @ Coachella '04 (not sure if I have Boldcaptains or not but it's just astonishing)
- Daft Punk @ Vegoose '07 (better than Alive '07)
- Glen Hansard @ M Club in Valmez, Czech Republic. (a simple honest recording of a nice show)
- The Frames on 'Here Comes The Night', a now defunct late night Irish radio show. Wonderful stuff with a lot of cover songs. The quality is sketchy in parts as it was recorded off the radio but the honesty of the performance shines through.

the AC recording you speak of was at the 9:30 Club in DC. My friends were there, unfortunately it was before I got into them :-\.

my favorites:

Aphex Twin - Coachella 2008
Underworld - Everything Everything
Prodigy - Live at Pukkelpop 2005
Prodigy - Live in Sweeden 1994
Daft Punk - Coachella 2006

if anyone has a really good quality Chemical Brothers recording with split tracks from the 2007/2008 tour, I would really really really appreciate it.

Check out The Chemical Brothers @ SF Concourse. It was at Lovefest last year. It used to be on TMB but you'll have to look around. I listen to that show at least 3 times a week.

I'd like to find those Prodigy shows. My live Prodigy is woefully low.

Nope :(

A DVD of two gigs, though. Oooh, I'd love an audio rip of that.

Oh yeah, there is a live CD. It's called This Is Glastonbury and is a rather rare bonus disc that came with a special edition of This Is Hardcore in Japan. Even rarer is the disc that has two bonus live tracks: "This Is Hardcore" and "Glory Days/Common People." Why most editions don't have those tracks is something I cannot begin to understand.
