It depends which bar within the Roosevelt you go to... The last time I was there they barely looked at my id at Teddy's but thoroughly checked it at the Tropicana.

whoops, didn't see your earlier post with the link. so it's at a warehouse? oh man, it's going to get really sweaty, smelly and nasty. no wonder the donuts page said you'd want to talk off your clothes. i hope it's real rest rooms instead of portas

bmack86
07-30-2008, 11:53 AM
It isn't the 6th Street warehouse by any chance? That'd be a blast.

discoinfiltrator
07-30-2008, 12:05 PM
yep, supposedly at a warehouse but don't know which one. hopefully someplace dark and minimal but with a sweet disco ball. there's one on Hope St i think where they had some good gigs last year (prins thomas, rub n tug, etc). it doesn't have real bathrooms but the sound and lighting is always excellent.

bmack86
07-30-2008, 12:10 PM
The 6th st one has a bathroom and the guy who owns it sets up a bar sometimes, but I don't think he has a disco ball. He does have a projection screen, and they could set up turn tables on top of each end of the half pipe. How awesome would that be

discoinfiltrator
07-30-2008, 12:13 PM
don't think i've been there, but i went to the Harvey party in May and it was in a really cool space that had 2 interior bathrooms but about 1000 people in attendance, which made for a total nightbare bathroom scenario. i'd rather have 10 porta potties- even though they're gross it's better than spending all night standing in the bathroom line rather than dancing!

This was a pretty sweet and chill party. They spun mostly housy disco grooves. Very approachable guys. Spoke w/ James for a bit, he said their records were still a little wet from last nights warehouse party where it was like 120 degrees (anyone have a review of that?)! He also mentioned there wasnt going to be any LCD Soundsystem live shows anytime soon and he's trying to concentrate on this Special Disco thing w/ its residency in nyc? As far as the crowd, for what it lacked in actual energetic dancing fans it was made up for with the tremendous amount of hot chicks.

the saturday night SDV gig was the most fun dance party i've ever been to in LA, not to mention the sweatiest! the place was about 110 degrees and 100% humidity. you know it's hot when girls wearing beige granny bras are taking off their shirts.... the music was fun disco deliciousness all night. and the roosevelt gig was a great way to wind down the weekend. the cheese factor was there but not nearly as high as i would have expected for a pool party at the roosevelt. hope james & pat bring back the disco soon. we need more of it out here!

Hopefully I'm right: he busts out of the studio after a 14 day recording frenzy (ala Kerouac writing On the Road) and is ready to ruin us in the Sahara....again.
