me too. anyone been before? Did you get turned away from capacity venues much?

MarkO
07-02-2008, 09:56 AM
Never turned away last year though I didn't venue hop too much. I was able to get in to Roky Ericksen w/out issue though and I went in not long before he was due on stage.

For $50, you can't go wrong with this (it was only $40 last year though).

Sweet. I'm definitely in. I'd pay that much just to see Mogwai, Deerhunter, and Fuck Buttons.

Sounds like fun. I'm going to Bumbershoot. And now wondering if maybe I could just stay in Portland for a while instead of coming back to work. :)

FUCK YES!

I'm glad there's already a thread about this.
I just found out that they announced the lineup.

I am definitely going to try and see

MENOMENA
TV ON THE RADIO
MOGWAI
FUCK BUTTONS
BLITZEN TRAPPER
MURDER CITY DEVILS (who are.. reuniting???.. they fuckin broke up)
M. WARD

Suhweeeeeet.
I've never been to MFNW before. What's it like? Does the $50 wrist band cover all days??

Oh! Looks like its:
9/3: Mogwai / Fuck Buttons - Roseland
9/4: M. Ward - Crystal Ballroom
9/5: Tv On The Radio - Roseland
9/6: Murder City Devils - Roseland
9/6: Menomena/Blitzen Trapper - Crystal Ballroom

REALLY hope Murder City and Menomena don't conflict.. But if they do, I'm totally seeing Menomena!

FUCK YES! I love Portland.

I've only been to the Roseland once (to see the PIXIES)
But recently have been to Crystal Ballroom.

They seem about the same.. I guess Crystal Ballroom was a little better.
Either way MFNW is going to be fucking awesome.

What about the wristbands? You guys know? Is it $50 for the whole thing?
That can't be right. It's gotta be $50 a day, right?

MarkO
07-04-2008, 11:45 AM
Nope, $50 FOR ALL 4 NIGHTS !

That's pretty fantastic.

Murder City Devils would be really fun.

MarkO

The Crystal, the Roseland, the Doug Fir, Dantes and Berbatis are all on (or just off) one street in Portland so it's possible to venue hop (but I don't recommend it).

Dantes, Berbatis & the Roseland are within 250yds or so of each other.

Fuck, I really wish I could attend this. If LA ever had anything like this the price would be triple and the chances of getting into each venue would be slim to none.

Well, I am completely out of luck.

I didn't really want to look up the info

MarkO

Dude. It's on Page 1.

I saw

Weds : Mogwai / Fuck Buttons
Thurs : Nada Surf / PseudoSix / Port O'Brien
Fri : Vampire Weekend / John Vanderslice
Sat : The Helio Sequence / Menomena (took me nearly 2hrs to get into the venue as they hit capacity well before 9 so I missed Fleet Foxes / Blitzen Trapper)

You missed Battles and TV On The Radio???

Couldn't get out of work for Battles :( and the lines (reportedly) to get into TvoTR were looooong.

This is not a fest where you can venue hop. By 9pm on Sunday, the line for The Crystal Ballroom was down 2 sides of a city block and soon went to a 3rd side. It's a tremendously well supported fest.
