Canada is like the valedictorian of North America, and the United States is the semi-retarded second-string fullback. Canada may be superior to us in every way that matters, yet we still call them "******" every day.
Happy birthday Canada. Keep on rockin' in the free world, and standing on guard for, uh... thou?

I met Nardwuar and talked to him for a decent amount of time. He is a really nice guy, really funny and knows EVERYTHING about music. He also personally introduced me to Andrew W.K., which was pretty fucking cool.

I wished a belated happy birthday to America to be polite. I wish Canada a belated happy birthday, but it's way more sincere. You know, I bring a bottle of lame supermarket wine to America's birthday party just to show my face or whatever, but I go to Canada's party afterwards, and plan to wake up on their lawn.
Maybe if America's birthday party had something better than freakin' Budweiser at it, things would be different. Doesn't matter how much of that stuff you drink, it won't ever taste like beer.

have you ever actually tasted Labatt?
frozen pilgrim
07-06-2008, 10:12 AM
oh dear lord, nobody here is trying to make excuses for labatt.
man.
in ontario at least, the sort of official beer- like the one you can always buy and never have someone go "oh I don't drink that"- is moosehead. it's really good stuff. it's kind of like a canadian version of holsten premium- gold lager with a bright start, a crisp feel, and an impeccably clean finish. also, moosehead's been giving out free sports balls (dodgeballs, soccer balls, footballs) in every case. so you get a friend over, grab a 24 of moosehead, and then there's a free dodgeball inside, and the night kind of scripts itself.
I wish they could give out fireworks in cases of beer for canada day, though. it'd sure keep things interesting. make up for the fact that discharging firearms (even blanks) on new years, canada day, etc is illegal.

I missed the KITH on his last reunion tour but saw them a few times back during the 2000 reunion tour. I enjoy all the kids, but Bruce McCulloch's on stage antics were always my favorite.
