I'm predicting:

Basement Jaxx
The Prodigy
Moby (live or DJ)

The trance superstar DJ in 2009 will be either Ferry Corsten or Armin Van Buuren.

I also see Chemical Brothers as a possibility. I don't think Underworld will be there.

and PLEASE keep the Ed Banger to a minimum.

what about you guys?

i think Underworld, Moby (dj), & bt (live) are all likely...

Chem Bros, Prodigy, & Daft Punk would be awesome, but less likely (and wouldn't be in the sahara anyway)...

but i'd like to see:
DJ Temper Tantrum
UNICRON
AK1200
DJ Dara
Infected Mushroom
The Tuss
Pendulum (dj set)
Dieselboy
Poe w/ Conjure One
KMFDM

among other dream acts, such as Shpongle, Boards of Canada, The Knife, etc...

and maybe Republica for shits and giggles...

i think if any one of those acts were on the poster we'd assume a Tiesto-slot on main stage (even if it doesn't happed, just like this year when we all assumed fatboy slim would close out main)...

kraftwerk graduated to main, and i'm pretty sure no one would be surprised if daft would if they ever return...

06-17-2008, 12:47 PM
Wow... that Battles video is awesome! It kinda sucked how at Coachella everyone was just bobbing their heads. I wish the crowd was like that at Coachella. I saw them at Sasquatch, and the crowd was much better. People were dancing and jumping, and everyone really got into when they played Atlas.... but nowhere near to that extent.
I also thought Battles would strangely have suited the Sahara. They should have put them in the Sahara this year right before Aphex Twin.

SHPONGLESHPONGLESHPONGLE!!!!!!!

I can't stress this enough.
Shpongle in the sahara would be the single most transcendental EDM experience ever.

I've accepted I'm not going to england for halloween to see them (so I can pay for some new dj gear), and I have to see them somehow.
goldenvoice, hear my plea:
it's not too late- get the north american live shpongle debut.
pull a daft punk, and give them whatever they need to put on a complete multi-sensory experience.
dani, please, I implore you, next chance you get, tip off paul tollett to this incredible duo.
I know I've posted this video before, but I have to again.
it's from japan- a semi-private show- one of only two "live" shpongle shows ever attempted.

I think having them play so early on the first day effected the crowd energy. For most it was the first band they were excited to see and still getting into the coachella groove. And I was probably too stoned for my own good during their set...

amy, this MUST happen.
shpongle in the sahara tent is something that I have to experience in my lifetime. it has to happen. it just fucking HAS to.
the sahara tent is the clearest, loudest EDM-tuned sound system I've ever heard.
I would give anything to see even just simon posford. the man doesn't just mix shpongle tracks. he uses a whole 24 track console on stage. effortlessley.
he's just so damn brilliant, and the three shpongle albums are some of the most deeply psychedelic music ever composed.

I know I've posted this video in this thread already, but I still have like five more times before I hit the repetition of that live royksopp video (which I love, BTW)

I'm so happy to see a continuing evolution regarding Shpongle! It used to be whenever I brought them up, I would always be met with, "what the fuck are you talking about?"

interesting story-
I had planned to go to eclipse festival iin the quebec wilderness near montreal, but my little brother (13) had such a life-changing time at his first ever rock conert (MMJ), that I bought him tickets to go see rancid, sick of it all, and the creepshow, on august 3rd at a club in toronto (he's really into the clash and rancid right now).
shpongle is my absolute, no question #1 favorite EDM act of all time, but I'm willing to miss seeing them out in the forest if it means helping my little bro live out his childhood dreams of being the only kid in his class who gets to go to late night punk rock shows.

as such-
shpongle for coachella 09.
please.
please.
I'm fucking begging.
I'm already planning to go to coachella next year. I know for sure. I'm saving my fuckup-related flight vouchers, and I'm keeping all my desert camping gear in the massive suitcase I always use (msparks- remember the destiny king?).
I WILL be there next year.

I actually did enjoy Deadmau5 this year. I was probably in the best part of the tent for it though; the crowd where I was was extremely into it - and it wasnt a bunch of hipster shit either.

I think if any DJs repeat, it should either be Adam Freeland, James Zabiela, Danny Tennaglia, or Deadmau5.

I'd love to see the Prodigy, but I think they'd be more amazing subheadlining on the main stage.

A dance act should NEVER subheadline or play the mainstage right before the headliner. Ever.

I saw videos of Underworld playing before Radiohead at APW, and the crowd was completely lame. Just standing there. Big name dance acts don't deserve to go before "headlining acts".

If the prodigy play, they will play after the headliner on the main stage, or headline the sahara.

We'll always disagree on this one paulb. I watched Sebastian from beginning to end. The first 10-15 minutes was good, he then slowly started blowing it. He appeared like he let the size of the crowd get to him. I specifically remember other people coming out (Busy P for one) making small talk with him to bring him back into focus.

So am I a party of one in the Junior Senior boat?

I'm a fan. They were great in 2004.

It doesn't mean that I'd pass another opportunity to see Sebastian in the tent again. He's been perfect in every other venue that I've seen him.

I'd love to see Boys Noize at Hard Haunted Mansion on Halloween. The wife might change the locks if I don't slow down soon:-)

you only live once man, thats how I see it.
