Have you listened to the new album? start to finish? honest question.

I hear no dirty south influenced tracks on the Album. A milli is this closet thing to dirty south rap on the new album. In my opinion. I hear southernplayfunkalistic.

As pitchfork mentioned

"Traces of the South's most genre-bursting, P-Funk-worshipping ATLiens can be heard all over C3, from Wayne's staccato phrasing on "Mr. Carter" to the extraterrestrial fetishism of "Phone Home" to the eclectic unpredictability of it all."

god i hate lil wayne...i used to respect him but now, he just has no passion and he doesn't give a fuck about anything except money. he's not hip hop, he's just a spoiled thug that brags about "earning his teardrops" and being a gangsta. no substance to any of his raps anymore...i like one track off that record and that's BARELY. mr carter. but lollipop easily erases that...vocoders for the loss.

Believe that like a true story
Rims big make the car look like its two stories,
If I hop out - that be suicide
No back seats, call that paralyze
I don’t have a spine, I don’t fantasize
I mastermind, then go after mine
You see I handle mine, I dismantle mine
I told her tool box ‘Bitch it’s Hammertime’So excuse me as I nail em’ to something
Just repeal em’, I’m a kill em’
Someone tell em‘, I’m a kill em’
I’m a feel his mother's mama, can't tell em’ when doctors cant heal em‘, ima kill em’
And yeah, we sell em’, i know u smell em’
So if u want it, You could just yell it
Be in the morning at your telly
Whole keys go for twenty, half a key go for eleven, after me there will be nothing
I am Legend and I Will Smith
Now that’s how you let the beat build, bitch.

The new T.I. is pretty solid. It's a little different than his previous work, but whether or not it will be viable to his fans is another story. It kinda reminds me of Jay-Z's Black album when he's talking about changing his lifestyle and yadda yadda. Dead and Gone is a great track off of it and well, Whatever You Like is a pretty good song to play when you got yo'self a nice respectable skeez in your whip :)

I'd actually say that rap probably isn't my best area, but thanks for the compliment.

(You've got yerself a double negative.)

And, Weezy's got some great word association he does. He's a lot of fun when he's on, and he's on throughout this one. He also releases plenty of stinkers, but the man puts out about 500 songs a year it seems like.

Digisnacks by Rza is the best album I've heard so far this year. Amazing production, great lyrics, and solid guest appearances (even tho I haven't heard of any of the rappers).

Overall A.

Protools by Gza was a disappoint on the production side, idk why he doesn't have Rza produce the whole thing. Despite that there are a few gems such as Paper Plate (a 50 cent diss) and Alphabet where he incorporates the entire alphabet on the hook alone. Gza drops knowledge as always but this album doesn't compare to Liquid Swords or Beneath the Surface.

Overall B-.

For the record, the new Nas = serious disappointment.

I decided to finally give it a spin, and yeah. He has lost it for the 2nd time. It seems to go in cycles with Nas. Illmatic was killer, It was written was TRASH, Nastradamus was trash(both had 1-3 good songs and that was it), I am was a good comeback, but nothing to make a claim for best hiphop artist or anything. Then Stillmatic was fucking killer, as was The Lost Tapes(if you have never listened to this go and get it, it's my 2nd fav. Nas album) Then God's Son was a going through the motions(some good tracks, but plenty of filler also), then Street's Diciple was ummmmmmmm the worst shit he has EVER done, a double album with almost at clunkers. Then Hip-Hop is Dead was weak sauce, now the N**** album WEAK. So maybe he is due for another killer album.

Backwater
10-03-2008, 08:54 PM
I'm glad you also think It Was Written was trash. Lupe Fiasco cited that as the greatest hip hop album ever and the reason he decided to start rapping. I was very confused by that so I gave it another listen, yep just as bad as before.

Hip Hop is Dead wasn't that weak. It was much, much better than this new one. Where Are They Now is an awesome tribute to the forgotten MCs. The title track isn't bad. Who Killed It? is good because it's very original, a rapper doing Film Noir with the lyrics and accent, never seen that before. Blunt Ashes is a cool song and the two Scott Storch ones are solid. I would listen to it again.

Sushov23
10-03-2008, 08:56 PM
Hip hop is dead has maybe 5 tracks that are good, the rest are just filler. FILLER=Nas main problem since Illmatic(only The lost tapes is consistent) cause to me towards the end of Stillmatic it get a bit weak.

Backwater
10-03-2008, 09:00 PM
Shouldn't the "lost" tapes be the least consistent? Aren't they B-Sides? That's actually the only one I have heard and the reason is because, like you said, he's full of filler so I figured it would be 100% filler. I will check it out though for sure. Downloading it right now

Haha, wow 50 Cent got 18. The narrator guy said, "50 overcame nine gunshots wounds in order to complete this album." WTF? So the wounds themselves are what delayed the album? Nothing to do with production or the music itself, but the two year old scars on his back were really pushing back that release date.

oh, and THA BLOCK IS HOT (the album) was prolly one of the best things Cash Money produced.
I always thought Lil Wayne would surpass Juvenile in terms of mainstream greatness (lack of better words).

I'd actually say that rap probably isn't my best area, but thanks for the compliment.

(You've got yerself a double negative.)

And, Weezy's got some great word association he does. He's a lot of fun when he's on, and he's on throughout this one. He also releases plenty of stinkers, but the man puts out about 500 songs a year it seems like.

yessir...my bad, but you knew what i meant. long day blah blah...no offense regardless. i USED to like lil wayne, but just something about him talking out of his ass in every interview and saying if it wasn't for the money, he wouldn't be rapping. i tried to like some of this new cd but lollipop, get money, and a milli are just ridiculous. now lil wayne as a guest rapper, i like a whole lot more than lil wayne as the featured rapper. and i honestly don't think this fool earned his tears. someone please put him in his place...

Seriously. His best line ever was on an Outkast album, " tha hurricane came and took away my Louisana home, and all I got in return was a dern cuntry song"

Luda is everything that you Lil Wayne fans are claming that he is. bmack and garet, listen to him instead for that simple, fun hip hop.

exactly...i think he even has better word play. plus you don't gotta deal with that, "i'm hard" bullshit. give me word of mouf, back for the first time, red light district, release therapy over the carters anyday!

Luda's head isn't placed directly up his own ass so that should count for something. His wordplay is so much better, no contest.

No no no, a completely different Juice entirely!

Really? I have no idea what BWS is but I assumed they were some group that he started. You mean to tell me that a different rapper took his name?!?! He needs to be shot right now.

What do you think of ghostwriters? There seems to be a lot of supposed ones out there....

Backwater

Since I'm not an aspiring hip hop artist myself, I don't really care that much. As long as I like what they put out, I'm not going to really question who originally wrote it.

holy shit...so back in '06 some rapper named Juice sent me a friend request and a message on myspace...i thought it was the BWS Juice and was like props on your music blah blah blah and he said i'm the REAL juice that guy was called something else i beat Eminem in a freestyle battle etc...so i check it out and low and behold it's the fucking Juice you guys are talking about...

People throw this word around all the time around here but that battle was truly epic. Everyone was just looking at each other like "WTF, we are witnessing something crazy right now." They went to so many tie breaker rounds, I think it was like 7 or something. I just started laughing after awhile. My favorite Eminem line was from the year before, some black guy was battling him and he started getting racist calling him a whitey, cracker bitch etc, etc, so Eminem says, "Ok you started it, you want to talk about race, you want to be like Spike Lee? Well shit, just about 80 years ago we had your grandpa hanging from a tree." He attacked him, security broke it up, and Eminem won the round.

The Juice we are talking about is the man. My friend talks to him on Myspace all the time, he's a real straight up dude.

Any more lines Backwater? I know on all the footage I've seen they don't show any of the tiebreakers at all.... :(

That was the only one I can quote word for word. Let me think about it. It was my second or third time getting drunk and I was really hammered at the Eminem vs. Juice battle. I'll talk to some of my friends who were also there and see if they remember any exact or close to exact lines. I don't want to misquote either of them because they're both such geniuses.

"I've been busy in the studio, and right now I'm working on a mix tape, along with Tha Carter IV. The mixed tape you can expect real soon. It's called Dedication 3, and it's going to be Gangsta Grillz by DJ Drama. And then right after that, I'm putting that same mix tape out with twenty extra songs for free on my website."
