Really close "limited view" tickets are on TM now for $65. I would be all over that if I was going to be in town

$65 is reasonable but "limited view?" Also, Dave Grohl is there so I can't even really justify paying that much. Replace Foo Fighters, Incubus and Tenacious D with Radiohead, R.E.M. and Muse. Now that would be worth it.

c'mon you serious? replace incubus and TD with REM and Muse...? Might as well get Zep to play too

fuck that Tenacious D is awesome(I mean come on it's Jack Black), and so was Incubus once. The Foo Fighters are one of the better bands out there right now, so stop your shit.

Dave Grohl is the biggest sellout ever in history. Their first two albums were great. Their most recent two are absolutely atrocious garbage. They sounded like Nirvana at first, now they sound like Nickelback. While I admire them for evolving and not making the same album over and over, there's no denying the serious decline in quality.

zenidogx
07-07-2008, 10:42 PM
whoa. the Foos dont sound nothing like Nickelback.

i'll admit, they aint the best (hell i'm not really a fan) but the Foos are among the best modern rock bands out there. well, thats not saying much, but you get my point.

Backwater

Among the best mainstream radio rock bands, okay maybe.

tenacious D, eh comedy is okay. as long as they dont over do it.

jack black is getting a free ride from me for the next 6 months because KungFu Panda was excellent

For fucks sake, i was quoting him regarding getting REM and Muse to replace incubus and TD, those two bands are much bigger than the original two actually playing (incubus and TD)

oh my gawd was this amazing
the Foos kicked it off with Young Man Blues and Bargain (joined by some guy idk). high energy- chills ran through my body. introduced by David Duchovney (sp?)
then the Flaming Lips did a Tommy medley with Pinball Wizard and I'm Free!!!
it was so awesome. Rainn Wilson dressed up as Elton John from Tommy to introduce them.
then Mila Kunis (cunt) introduced Incubus. they were eh. I Can See For Miles dragged as did I Can't Explain.
then Tenacious D owned Squeeze Box.
Pearl Jam w/ a mini orchestra did Love Reign O'er Me and The Real Me. it was amazing. Vedder's voice was really good. the crowd went nuts.

finally, Adam Sandler introduced the Who w/ a little song.

Roger and Pete performed:
Baba O'Riley
The Seeker
Behind Blue Eyes
My Generation
You Better You Bet (halfway through Pete called it off because he had monitor problems. he was kinda pissed and had the song restarted. he was so cool.)
My Generation
Won't Get Fooled Again
they also played two from endless wire- 2000 Years and their closer, Tea and Theatre.

i prolly left a song out. set list not in order.
point is, best night of my summer!

I'm jealous too. I can't wait to watch it next Saturday. Why are you calling Mila Kunis a cunt? She's fucking hot and not a bad actress at all.

and she fucked up her lines.
then she left the venue after she did what she had to do.

Rainn Wilson was probably there as a cross promotion for the movie, "The Rocker"...

Sounds interesting, I just didn't want to pay $300 plus service charges for the tickets for floor seats.

i cant blieve how many people are defending the Foos, they were decent when I was in like Middle School but they're soo shitty, I keep forgetting i'm gunna catch them at ACL (where I might secretly enjoy them, shhh)

tenacious d owns us all

07-13-2008, 10:28 AM
and what exactly is your point? I'm talking about my opinion here, i'm not one of those people that shoves his opinions down someones throat as if it were fact. in my life and my timeline the Foos were alright when I was in Middle School

sbessiso
07-13-2008, 10:33 AM

I started middle school in '96, so I doubt it.

did you like follow her outside to see if she went to her limo?

nah. she's not worth stalking.
i was sitting front row on the side of the stage. Mila Kunis took her crap and left in the opposite direction of backstage. and the venue exits are pretty much a stones throw away from the floor.

i was also standing pretty much above Sandler as he enjoyed the Who. then some snobby-looking LA asses asked him for a picture. i dont know what he told them, but he went backstage to enjoy the rest of the show.

back to the Foos. i didnt really like them in middle school (2003) or high school (2007). but every now and again they have some good songs. more recently I keep hearing the Pretender on the radio. Dave Grohl seems like he'd be good live. and he was.

they were at their best 95-97

their first two releases and my middle school years, lol.

Backwater

Yeah, I'm probably the biggest fan of Foo's first two albums and biggest hater of their most recent two. The middle two were both just meh. I was a HUGE Nirvana/FooFighters fan until There's Nothing Left To Lose. While I still like Nirvana I think Dave is the biggest sellout in music history. Did anyone hear Probot? Listen to it and read the linear notes and you will see what I'm talking about. The music he grew up loving and still has the biggest passion for today is metal. Not death metal but stuff like Corrosion of Conformity and Celtic Frost. The Foo Fighters are just a money making machine for him, he doesn't give a fuck about the music he makes anymore.

RotationSlimWang
07-13-2008, 03:55 PM
I prefer to read the non-linear notes.

zenidogx

almost forgot to mention that our best friend Sean Penn was there.
he introduced PJ.
"the who never sold out. unlike a music tv network"
what a douche.

Pete's banter was hilarious.
"thanks to vh1 for giving us this evening instead of a plastic piece of shit"
roger: "do you have a plastic piece of shit?"
pete" about 38 of them. for CSI" turns to roger, "you should try and write a song sometime."
