This continental thing is throwing me off.

I'm all about the Sequoia National Forest. Yosemite, too. Driving through Arizona on the 10 is pretty epic as well, if you're listening to Broken Social Scene.

"the 10" ends at Blythe. it becomes "I-10" in Arizona.

And people start gauging how far things are apart by distance instead of time?

SHOTGUN WILLIES!

hot tip: if you happen to have a corporate expense account, fear not. you can charge EVERYTHING to your heart's content because the receipts show the business name as "The Bavarian Inn" which is the restaurant attached to SW where they process all their credit card charges.

Edit: this was along the line of toms theme.

Anywhere on the S to N shores of Cali, especially Big Sur.

Red Rock State Park in Sedona, Arizona. Sedona is amazing, and Red Rock is a great place to soak it all in.

Manhattan blew my small town mind, and San Francisco may be the coolest city in the US.

Cottontail ranch was on the way from my parents' house to Las Vegas. The first time we drove by my mom said, "Hey, lets stop and pet the bunnies!" She was serious, and, being children, my brother and I didn't understand why my dad didn't want to stop.

NYC (although when I go, I find it impossible to sleep, as there is constantly something interesting to do, so I crash for nearly a week afterwards)
San Francisco
Grand Teton NP (Yellowstone is amazing too, just often very crowded)
Glacier NP (Heaven)
Big Sur (I went on a solo road trip recently, and it was difficult to want to return to So California)
Death Valley NP (Its so awesome when the wildflowers are in bloom, it's very easy to forget you're in a place called Death Valley)
Monument Valley( It feels like a trip back in time....especially on acid)

How about The Gorge Amphitheater people? Blows the empire polo fields out of the water and is an attraction in itself.

CA:
Mt. Lassen
Lake Tahoe
Bear Valley
Lake Alpine
Clear Lake

WA:
LAVA TUBES AT MT SAINT HELENS !!
Lake Merril (closest camping you can legally get to Mt. Saint Helens).

OR:
Portland
Anywhere along route 97 (especially the sign that reads "45th closest parallel from the equator to the north pole")

That's all i got for now.. but why did someone mention Chico, CA? That place fucking sucks excluding all the drunken college parties.
