M83 and Lusine took up most of my day.

Wait wait wait... Are we just listing the bands we listened to all day? Or could we turn this into a topic where we give an overview of a nominated band, their history, discography recommendations and a couple youtube videos?

Hannahrain

There is already such a thing as that thread. And the board is pretty much full of talking about bands and making recommendations and posting youtubes. Everything doesn't have to be a comprehensive guide.

I think he was just saying that based on the title of the thread...

Hannahrain

He specifically said "could we turn this into".

Lee tell me you got it

Tomorrow, I had to get a bunch of shit done early in the day and the mail room is only open for this stupid 2 hour period in the middle of the day (when I have class)...

Also, Hannah, which thread are you talking about?

i_like_cake530

Yeah, but the discographies thread is more like a request thread. I'm thinking this could be like a musical BMOTW + the young'uns thread, to some degree.

Possibly.

Yeah, but the discographies thread is more like a request thread.

Only if you don't have anything to contribute.

I'm pretty sure the Young'uns thread is already a musical version of the Young'uns thread.

I was in my car all day today, and it was a musical merry go 'round of...

Black Angels-Directions to See a Ghost
The Last Shadow Shadow Puppets-The Age of the Understatement
Franz Ferdinand-You Could Have it so Much Better

BlackSwan
05-29-2008, 10:55 PM
you know, it really didn't take very long for the focus of the thread to go to the thread itself...

i listened to a lot of REM, made a playlist of all the songs they've played so far on the tour. observations... the new stuff stacks up surprisingly well and, i forgot about disturbance at the heron house, that's good one

This entire week has been about Modest Mouse for me. I've almost gone through their complete discography.

I have no idea what I'll listen to in the car after that's done. Maybe I'll switch to some Sufjan Stevens. Haven't listened to him in awhile.

PassiveTheory
05-30-2008, 11:22 AM
I've actually found myself listening to old Moby... Probably since I had to listen to the new CD and found it completely mediocre. The only thing I could think was "man, there COULDN'T be anything of his worse than this".

I definitely had an Arcade Fire day last week. And a Massive Attack night a few nights ago.

Today has, oddly enough, been all about the Doors.

I had convinced myself that I didn't like them because Jim Morrisson's lyrics and posturing were so damn annoying, but that first album doesn't have a bad song on it, and the second album is nearly as good. The fucker can sing. The band was good. I think I like the Doors again.

Jesus fucking Christ, Hannah's so right--this is yet another goddamn thread so people can list what music they like right now. Hey guys, why don't we just turn it into fucking myspace and you can put the song at the end of every post? Fucking shit.

humanoid

This kind of thing is actually more useful than just saying what yr listening too. Something to spark discussion of music in order to more fully understand it as opposed to just racking up cred. Then again, I sure could use the cred. So. Clock DVA. If you haven't heard them, they're post-punk industrial funk, sort of. Vaguely similar to Cabaret Voltaire. There's something about the production of all those old post-punk and industrial albums that I really like and seems to be significantly lacking in the modern revivalists.
