Mix-Tape Master (109-144 points)
You are a music evangelist: the person in your network of friends who always has the coolest new song, the one whose iPod gets picked to DJ every party. You understand the art of the segue, how the key to the best mix-tape isn't just the songs you pick, but how they interlock with each other. You also know who the up-and-coming acts are and are quick to recognise where their influences lie and whether they will make it big. You work hard at the pursuit of this knowledge, scouring music blogs, magazines and record stores. Most importantly, you are generous with your passion – and your friends should be very, very grateful. Still, it’s always good to get new inspiration for your latest mix.

Wow I suck!

turns out I missed 7...

I was going to put Nigeria but opted for South Africa. If I had gone with my instinct i would have been a mixtape master or whatever the next jump was.

HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT FEMA KUTI's FROM GODDAMN NIGERIA...

I almost put Egypt because one of his bands was the Egypt 80, but then I remembered his parents were all up in the Nigerian political scene... dude was the godfather of afrobeat. I saw his son Femi Kuti at the Fillmore a while back and it was non-stop energy from start to finish.

It was Feli Kuti, and even people who don't know his music know that because, in addition to being one of the creators of Afrobeat, he was also an incredibly important political figure during the Nigerian Junta.

I am a birthday party DJ. I suck. I hope there aren't any clowns at the party. Since I started the thread I should probably admit to not only being a "Birthday Party DJ," but a backup clown as well!

I got that one wrong too. I don't recall him sending me an email asking me to deposite $6 million for him.

Well at least I can DJ! Some hard questions. To bad it's not an open web test. That and a better short term memory would have helped!

60=I fail. Fuck it, guess I'm not big into the oldies although my Popular American Music Prof. would not be happy about a few of my answers. I Still got a 4.0 in the class, and thats the important score.

I missed two, question #23 Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliff make up which duo also question # 25 on who is not considered a minimalist...although I must admit I simply guessed the ryan adams and bjork song single so I could have missed 4 which may have brought me down one level...not sure though.

Your final score was 165/180

Musical Magician (145-180 points)
We doff our collective hat to your prodigious mind. You are a musical czar, with a profound knowledge of every genre and era. You met your current flame at a concert and, come to think of it, most of your friends too. You're always looking for the chance to pass on recommendations, knowing that if any of your disciples buy your suggestion it will change their lives the same way it has yours. Your love of music is genuine and deep and you match that passion with intellect. Because of that – let's face it – you're also the person that some folks love to hate. But who cares? Let's see their record collection! At this point, one can only take advantage of new ways to discover music and brush up on any obscure genres one might have missed.

EDIT: nope just checked by making those two answers wrong, im still a magician...although I dont really believe that because going into the test I really felt Id do bad. just lucked out with giving me questions I knew.

The only question I didn't really understand was Otis Redding's song--but I guessed that one right and may have missed the Bjork one since I don't really listen to her. I put the sugar answer. I'm surprised I only missed two? 170.
