Coachella is billed as the "Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival."

We all know what the music part of the festival is, but what is the art part?

To be honest, I was wondering the same thing today.

Decorated recycling containers, large metal sculptures, functional art (insect-shaped misters), performance art, etc. Sometimes there is a film tent.

There are art installations throughout the grounds.. it's one of the best parts. It's some serious eyecandy in the desert.

giant fire-breathing robots! I can't wait!

I saw those beasts in 05', but don't remember them in 06'. I personally hope they bring back those big drum ball things.

Yeah...where was roboChrist last year? I dont remember seeing them...they're staples of this shit...no festival is complete without giant remote controlled robots tearing the shit out of child molesting priests and setting them on fire with their robo flamethrowers!

the "art" part is just to make the festival sound more sophisticated and well rounded. it's call a "music and arts" festival, but it's really 99% music and 1% art.

well, music IS art, but you guys know what I mean.

If you cannot find the art, than you are legally blind. By the way, music counts as art.

Tall bicycles. No matter who you are or where you came from, you are reduced to a giggling kid again when you ride those bikes. They were made with magic.

Anyone remember that big creepy inflatable baby that got torn to pieces by battle-bot type robots?? That was in '05 I think....ugh, fake blood was even spurting out. I'm just glad I wasn't witnessing that on acid or shrooms :)

That cube thing.
I was standing next to it last year, and some british fucks wanted to beat my ass because they thought I built it and they didn't like the way it looked.
Oh well.

But all the art looks better at night anyways

I was waiting patiently for NIN to take stage, and they projected it on the big screens. Glad they did.

lets not forget the perpetual art machine tent, which was awesome. It was ice cold in there, never was crowded and showed about 20 insane short films at the same time. I ended up buying their dvd. Great to throw on at a party. Art at coachella is great. I hope they keep it up as much as they did last year

The installations were incredible. Although, I thought they changed each year, so it's kind of disappointing. But kinda not cuz they were all so freakin' good. So like, I don't know how I feel about it, and stuff.

I had no idea they were selling that! How much did you pay for it? Is there a website or anything on the dvd where I could contact them to pick one up myself? :)

The art is everywhere, even on the recycle bins- check mine out and take a picture with it. I figure if its going to be public, why not make it interactive!!

I was there last year and it was the MOST AMAZING art installation there! It was even MORE cool to see at night!
