Are they considered new? I saw them two years ago at Street Scene here and they were actually one of the hyped bands playing...

The Daysleepers

sbessiso
05-20-2008, 01:36 PM
no, wont happen, I gave them many many open minds and even saw their entire set at coachella, I am beyond perplexed as to why so many people like them, I can see why my 17 year old female high school friend loves them, but not you guys

thelastgreatman
05-20-2008, 01:42 PM
If you don't like that album, well, that would be more of your faggotry seeping into your artistic taste.

sbessiso
05-20-2008, 01:45 PM
no randy, just no, thats not gunna cut it, I refuse to accept that its MY fault/problem for not buying into them, by next year you guys arent even gunna remember their names

thelastgreatman
05-20-2008, 01:46 PM

sbessiso
05-20-2008, 01:46 PM

thelastgreatman
05-20-2008, 01:47 PM
Well why not? Both have lead singers that suck, except MGMT's album didn't bore the fuck out of me right away and all the way to the end.

sbessiso
05-20-2008, 01:49 PM
they have no redeeming qualities, shitty lyrics, shitty singing, even shittier guitar playing

thelastgreatman
05-20-2008, 01:50 PM
Whatever, go watch Love and Rockets again.

Blinken
05-20-2008, 01:50 PM
Oracular Spectacular is on of the best albums this year without a doubt, you're fucking crazy sbessio

sbessiso
05-20-2008, 01:52 PM
I may be crazy erik, i may be, but it still doesnt change the fact that mgmt were at the right place at the right time and do not deserve this acclaim

like I said, give it a year

sbessiso
05-20-2008, 01:52 PM

Yea, that's what I assumed this thread meant... like bands you discovered or became a fan of...

my bad.

I actually was a fan of Ghostland before... 2006 or so, but I hadn't seen them live until this year.

I'll take MGMT over the Raconteurs any day, and twice on Wednesdays.

thelastgreatman

Yeah, I'll take the band who's released an album that I care to hear more than three songs off, thanks.

Salah I thought we went over this at the campsite.

That or you were frothing over seeing the Raconteurs so much I didn't want to bring you down about them, but I digress...

I ACTUALLY like the Raconteurs, to a degree, but yeah... Jack White isn't my favorite person in the world.

Given the choice between MGMT and the Raconteurs? MGMT.

I'd say the same thing for Oracular Spectacular, I'll hold my judgement for their live show until I see them in a couple weeks.

The Raconteurs killed it at Coachella, and I like Conselors.. even more than Broken Boy Soldier now as a result.

MSTRKRFT as well, Moby will be cool

I think Fuck Buttons are the only new band for 2008 for me so far. "Street Horrrsing" wrecks it. Everything else is older shit.

Kids really gets me going, but I think The Handshake is probably the best-written song on that disc.

still wondering if Moby is going to just do dj set, poster doesn't indicate either way. he is also djing the after party at the Mezz so i hope he will be doing more actual Moby songs at BFD.

The only two that come to mind don't really count, but Fuck Buttons and The Dodos are both great.

However, I got the Fuck Buttons 7"s last year, so they're a 2007 discovery mostly. Dodos I heard for the first time this year, but they've been doing it for awhile.

And, Times New Viking are in the same boat.

No Age are still young enough, even though I saw them for the first time a year and a half ago.

My Federation, and I guess they count because last year they only put out a single and an EP so this was their first year with a full album.
