Bug. I dreamt that I went to a beach theme park thing with an awesome composite of Alma and Corinna, and you were there painting tiny portraits and you gave me one and I put it in my pocket.

"Hustler", "Hot Dog", and "I Got This Down" by SMD.
"One More Time" by French Kicks is great for running.
"Everlong" and "Monkey Wrench" by Foo Fighters.
"Sweetness" by Jimmy Eat World.
I personally like Motion City Soundtrack's faster stuff as well, but I know they're not everyone's cup of tea.

explosions in the sky - the earth is not a cold dead place (whole album) is another great one for running distances (ie. nothing to get you too jazzed and sprinting your ass off)

Personally, I load up on Cinematic Orchestra and God Is An Astronaut (whom I think is better than Explosions In The Sky)

But if I'm really going for some aggro music, I bring out the Sepultura, Nailbomb, and a little calming music by Slayer.

....those are usually the lifting day lol.

How could forget LCDS!

Also I don't know if anyone does the same, but DJs like Armand Van Helden and Armiin Van Buren are great for non-repetitive cardio (Kaskade, PVD, and Timo Maas for repetitive)

bug I've got like 5 treadmill mixes i've made in the past month or so. roughly formula is warm up, then bouncy, then crunchy, then cool down. 45 mins to an hour each. nobody but me likes them though.

the first one goes like this

1. Boards of Canada - "Olson"
2. Tim Hecker - "Dungeoneering"
3. Beck - "Where It's At"
4. James Brown - "Think" (live)
5. Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros - "Tony Adams"
6. Jonathan Richman - "Here Come the Martian Martians"
7. LCD Soundsystem - "North American Scum"
8. Led Zeppelin - "When the Levee Breaks"
9. The Godfathers - "Birth, School, Work, Death"
10. Massive Attack - "Protection"
11. The Magnetic Fields - "Blue You"

one of the other mixes is all Radiohead and another is all Talking Heads. I find they don't work as well as a mix of different artists for some reason.

When you're lifting and you're on the last reps of your last set and you're thinking "how can I possibly lift this shit up again?" -- put this on and it will happen.

Kill the Noise - Vol 1 and 2

The mixes are great and the track selection is fantastic for a good work out. 1.5 hours of goodness so you never have to skip around, change the volume, etc.

also, i like to listen to Alive (DP)...the peaks and valleys really make for a good time.

you should give Santogold's self-titled debut a try. When I got home from work last night I walked in on my girlfriend blasting it and doing some pretty serious crunches. Looked the tunes were firing her up :) Being the good motivator that I am, I poured myself a whiskey and cheered her on.
