the one here in arizona has always been run by a "controversial" promoter, so i don't go. i only went to one because my boyfriend was playing and it had no real ties to the official organization. this year is supposed to be different because someone else is throwing the "official" earthdance party, but the other promoter is still going to throw a non-legit one.

so i would just make sure that which ever earthdance event you attend is thrown by a promoter that is doing things properly :)

I haven't been but last year I went to the harmony festival and the promoter got up on stage and said a little prayer and welcomed us to join his earth dance...I totally wanted to but had kiddies that weekend...you should come up for it the vibe and people are unbelievable!!!

Another good one I hear is *********...enjoy!!!

lol, he's just a tough guy, which is annoying. like if you talk bad about him or his company, he'll threaten you with physical violence. he's been known to call the cops on other promoters in his town because he wants to be the only promoter there. he's hired porn stars and strippers for parties which is just pointless and the money never seems to make it towards the earthdance organization. just shady stuff like that. definitely not fun, lol.

Last year I went to the Autonomous Mutant Festival. It's really as hippy as you can get, but instead of acoustic guitar and reggae you have hardcore, drum n bass, jungle, etc going for 8 days straight (never stops, I am serious).. Last year it was held on Mt. Lassen (craziest party I've ever been to).. The directions on the website and hotline were purposely wrong to throw people off.. It was insane.. People from as far as BC came.

It's completely free and DIY but trust me it's really fuckin kool.

The website is here:
http://www.mutantfest.org/

It's like Burning man if it were free. The location hasn't been decided but it begins in a little over 30 days.

They had one in Tucson last year Amy but it was hosted by the shady promoter Ivy mentioned. My friends went and paid 40 bucks to get in, a half hour later the shady promoter called the cops on himself to get it shut down and no refunds were given. The whole thing lasted a little over an hour. WickwickWACK!!

Actually they typically hold it (mutant fest) anywhere in the Cascadia, which is basically from the Canadian border in washington down to Northern California..The first one was held in Oregon.. they usually are really secretive about the location until days before and yet somehow thousands from all over the place still show up.
