...to get your car fixed? Take this in to consideration.

1.) You live 3 blocks from your work.
2.) Your significant other has a car.
3.) It's getting warm out.
4.) Your car is worth 4-5000 dollars.

woke up this morning to find one of my Koi fish jumped out of the pond last night.

also, my father always told me to never pay more than 20% of the cars value for any repairs, not worth it at that point.

Depends on the city and what you like to do and how often you need to haul your stuff places. If you're a minimalist, then I'd say just sell the car and use the money for something you want/need.

Hey Marooko, whatever you may decide, just make sure that pooch of yours doesn't end up eating peas and rice because of it...Speaking of the new pooch...Has she fully taken over the household yet?

If you don't need the car badly I would fix it slowly. Fix one thing at a time. Then by the time it gets colder you're all fixed

I know, right? I wouldn't be able to get anywhere if I didn't have a girlfriend to run my legs for me.

I just spent 900 on my car that included a much needed tune-up, rear brakes, rotars and a special cable...it passed smog and runs great and I've lost the fear of rear ending someone...

you probably need to spend it unless you wanna bag it and buy a newer car that you don't know squat about???

I've got one for you to make you feel better. I had my car smogged a month ago. I recently received a letter from DMV that my certificate had not been received. I was pissed because the dealer was suppose to send it over from their system. I gathered my paperwork together in preparation to pop off to the dealer. I realized that I had my car smogged. The requirement was for the wife's car to be smogged! Had mine done for nothing. That money would have been good for 2 concerts.

Okay wait. Just use the money to get a new cheap car that runs and use giant zip-ties to attach the old car on top of the new car so you get a double-decker passenger section. Problem solved.

When my car broke down on my way back home, some douchebag at the Mazda dealersip tried to sell me a new car. I was wearing the same clothes I was wearing at Coachella and unless you coun't spraying yourself with a hose in the campground, I hadn't showered in 2 days. Did they REALLY think I could afford a new car.

Oh, and to top if off, they gave me a bad battery so my car broke down again a few hours later. Fucking douchebags.

your attempt at humor is poor.

not dependant. I lived here for 3 years with out a car. no prob. i love my bike.

I know, right? I wouldn't be able to get anywhere if I didn't have a girlfriend to run my legs for me.

you're failing today Hannah.

take the money you'd spend and get a new car?

this is exactly why im posing the question.

see what i mean.

its not as expensive as i thought it would be. its getting fixed right now, as i type. i was just curious how much some of you would spend before saying: "fuck that!"

If it were more than 1500 to have it fixed, i would think about putting it towards a new car. If it were more than 2000, i surely would.

Edit: It's fixed. Pick it up in an hour.

Excuse me. I not only solved your problem, but I've started the ball rolling on a one-of-a-kind vehicle that would for sure get you photographed, interviewed, and probably even laid. You should be more grateful.

if you would have specified in California, you would have gotten one. Many mechanic cousins back east, none here.

my first thought was to give you shit. mainly because i assume you've given me much shit, and thats because most on the board do. being that i cannot remember anything specifically (because i dont care) and due to the fact that last friday wasnt very good to you (on the board), i figured id just quote my earlier comment and babble a little. i didnt get the rear brakes done, so after taxes and all it was, hold on......had to get the receipt. 508.33. not too bad.
