YES YES YES!

I will always support the threads for these two...whether they come in '09 or any nearby show this year. Even if it's one or the other, i don't care!!!

I had an amazing time at Pendulum this year, but all i have heard is negative talk from others...

EVERYTIME I have seen the Prodigy, they kicked ass, EXCEPT '05, I will admit that that par-fuck performance in '05 would have been enough to turn some people into believe they sucked, i was confused in '05, i thought they were having sound issues, nope just rhythm issues, it was just an unlucky performance in my opinion. I saw Pendulum in '04 live and they sucked soooo hard, this years coachella I stopped by to see and I was really impressed with what I heard, Im a fan again, So basically all I am sayin is that yea I would be happy to see either Prodigy/Chemical Brothers But seriously you guys? This is Coachella, Rage, Prince, Bjork, Portishead, Massive Attack... Coachella doesn't fuck around, I say Orbital/Underworld '09 I was still test driving this genre of music as opposed to my classic rock/metal in 2005. Prodigy's so-called "par fucked" performance kicked my ass and sold me that year!

On the other hand, Daft Punk in 2006 caught me (As well as the rest of us) totally off guard and blew alot of minds that night in the Sahara. Off the scale if you ask me!:dumbo

Well if you watch them at the mainstage, you probably won't get a bunch of e-tards, but you're likely to end up with people who are just casually strolling by and aren't moving or dancing or jumping, people who are just staring at the visuals and saying "hey thats cool".

I dont know man I"m kind of biased with this one. The one time i've seen The Chems, it was at an outdoor venue, and the crowd was terrible. Most shows I've seen that are dance-oriented that go down outdoors have terrible audiences. The vibe just isn't the same.

Now put them in a tent, and things work out amazing. The atmosphere and energy and everything is kinda contained. Plus, if you put them in the tent against headliners, you'll get a more dedicated crowd. Like when I saw Underworld back in August, they played/closed out the dance tent at the same time Jack Johnson and Foo Fighters played (the headliners), so you knew that anyone who was choosing to watch Underworld chose them most likely because they like them. It made for a medium-sized, dedicated crowd. And that is how you want to see some of these people.

Well, sadly it's the truth! For you, it's a conflict. For me, it's exactly what I would want- not missing a headliner I would enjoy, and seeing my favorite act.

I would definitely prefer the temple, over the main stage if they played.

Fuck the vibe.....I have seen them a couple times and its always been cramped with a bunch of little wanna be fucking ravers and it makes me sick. I wanna be able to enjoy what I am seeing with out all the etards "trying" to dance with glowsticks. its a shame to waste an act like the chem bros in the Sahara. has it occurred to anyone that IF the Chemical Brothers play this year, they might not do a live set? I only say this because the last live date they played was August 30th @ the Olympia in London last year. Everything after, has been sporadic DJ sets across Europe. Plus, I don't know if this is a trend or not, but after they released their first compilation " Singles 93-03", majority of the concerts they played after its release where DJ sets. The same thing seems to be happening after their newest compilation "Brotherhood".

Just thought I would share...

and before some of you ask....no word from the Chems HQ

good point Chris. I wouldn't mind a DJ set from them, and it wouldn't surprise me honestly if it was a DJ set, because their name on the poster would still definitely help sell tickets.

But if it was a DJ set, would they headline the tent with it?

thelastmejia
01-11-2009, 03:16 PM
If the Chems did play a DJ set it would make me incredibly sad. They only had 5 dates on their last tour and 2 of them were in New York. It would be a shame if they don't put on their live show at an event like Coachella. Its like if Daft Punk just played a DJ set instead of their live show. Its great but, you know your missing out.

wasnt an original poster of this

but--- um such talented artists doing dj sets is kinda a bummer

why would a dj set make you sad/upset?

as far as I am concerned I would rather people like Fatboy & Moby do dj sets then live because their catalog of music is just not very good and are both greatly skilled djs. As far as an act like the Chem Bros. I love their catalog and was very very impressed with thier live show. I am not saying a dj set from them would not be good but it would conflict with a band I wanna see and I would not choose them.

Prodigy has dates in London Fri/Sat of Coachella according to Pollstar (http://pollstar.com/resultsArtist.aspx?ID=24111&SortBy=Date&SearchBy=prodigy).

Would it be possible for them to make it on Sunday?

Nope. Period.

Its not a matter of opinions right now , Coachella NEEDS the chems to headline sat... it would just make this festival complete... do it, do it ,, do it

Prodigy has a giant gap in their tour schedule right before Coachella, picking up at the start of April once again. Coincidence? I think not.

If Prodigy plays it will be sunday only they have a show in london on the 17th and nothing again till may 1st so if it is happening it will be sunday. Chemical Brothers i don't believe are on tour couldn't find tour dates but could play any day. The dream add's for me would be Basement Jaxx friday, Chemical Brothers Saturday, Prodigy Sunday. In all seriousness very very very unlikely, but would be amazing.

I think toured everywhere is a bit over dramatic. Plus seeing them play a major festival (coachella) outdoors is the way to go imo. The best choice for a dance act of major "headlining" proportion this year by far.

PLEASE PAUL PLEASE!

Why they always put the chemical bros. and the prodigy in pairs?

do they have a special contract combo or something?

If I pick one... it will be THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS.
Only hope that GV don't add them on Saturday... im planing to save my money for that shity day.

If the chemical brothers do end up at coachella, i hope they bring the same stage setup. Those visuals are awesome.

How about this, Chemical Brothers main stage and the killers in the sahara on saturday night. Sounds perfect to me. Probably not going to happen, but I think it would work out awesome like.

the architecture tours were sweet on the show last year. that and the two faces talking. they had a sick setup.
