Didn't see that coming...

I want to buy this, but I'm a bit skeptical as to what advantages this prgram has over running/aerobics/etc... Also, it's in queue behind Mario Kart and Zelda: Twilight Princess (has anyone played either of those two games?).

No. Nobody has played Mario Kart or Zelda.

Zelda is a Zelda game and Mario Kart is a Mario Kart game. Seriously if you've played any game in either series then you know what to expect. I had a lot of fun with Zelda and Mario Kart is pretty cool so far but sometimes I feel a little weird paying Nintendo for the same game every two years.

Online play is fun in Mario Kart though. That's something new I guess.

i would never give up my normal workout program for the fit. i think it should be viewed as a compliment to your daily routine.

I am a very unmotivated person. It'd be the Wii or nothing (well, I do walk my kids to school and climb up and down 13 flights of stairs a couple times of week, but that's it).

Go on some hikes amy :)

amyzzz
05-07-2008, 01:37 PM
The problem is, Erik, I have to drive my car somewhere before I can go on some hikes. I'm trying to conserve gas at the moment. I do have a beautiful view of the Superstition Mountains, and some-freaking-day I am going to hike around there. I can't believe I've lived out here in Mesa 3 years and haven't hiked there yet. I blame Jacob.

amyzzz
05-07-2008, 01:38 PM
We do have some nice bike paths in Mesa too, but I do not have a bike and have never been into biking (one good thing the mormons did here).

Hiking in the superstition mountains is a bad idea...but supposedly there is a hidden gold mine out there.

that does suck. i stopped going to the park as often because i hated the idea of getting in my CAR just to WALK. so i've started just putting on my mean mug walking around my neighborhood, since i also live in mesa. also, i try to do it the second i get home so i don't lose my motivation. i've never gone hiking in the superstitions though, i've probably done more hiking in tucson than here. i wish i lived closer to a really nice park like the one off of hayden and chaparrell. i love that park :)

i also like biking and recently bought a bike off a friend of mine. the money is going towards a tandem for us, lol. once i get a lock, i'll be riding that around more.

amyzzz
05-07-2008, 01:56 PM
I've gone hiking in the Superstitions before (15, 20 years ago?), and it was beautiful. It's starting to get hot though, so I may be out of luck until November unless I get up at 5am or something.

Twilight Princess is amazing. However, if you get a Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the priority. That game is most excellent. I love it.

And wait... has Mario Kart for the Wii come out already?

I thought Nintendo would have waited until after GTA IV came out. I guess not. When I am less broke I will pick up Mario Kart.

WII Fit will revolutionize the way america exercises. It will solve the obesity crisis for slightly overweight americans.

On a side note, anyone notice that McDonalds 100% ripped off Chik-fil-a with their new Southern Chicken Sandwich? I love it since i don't have a chik-fil-a in Hawaii.

hahahaha no it wont. It will be to much work to set-up and will be put to use by millions of Americans as a vibrating foot massager.

no, the font size in your sig is overkill. i believe the word you were going for in reference to seeing Radiohead 3 times is AWESOME!...

Seriously have you seen this fucking video...

...negatively commenting on how many times someone is going to see one of the greatest bands of our time is just a needless joykill.

garrett222

thanks. that's right. Nintendo wii rules!! I'm debating between the PS3 and 360 for the secondary system. I am more concerned with long term than what's on top Right Now. So i'm leaning PS3 for a good blue ray player

Wheres the beef?

So what makes your big flabby ass think it's going to tolerate heaving those gigantic mantits around as part of a video game simulating exercise when you can't manage to drag your sweating, pendulous rolls of flesh outside and run around the fucking block?

I wish I had that excuse. I can climb my back fence and be in the Kaibab National Forest, and yet I hardly ever do. :(

Ugh, fuck Nintendo for deliberately not releasing enough copies of this. They are still doing it with the Wii itself, of course.

Because it's more fun to 'run' on a video game than in real life?

And I don't think it will revolutionize exercise, because you can just cheat, for example:
http://www.gamespot.com/video/942009/6191409/wii-fit-video-review-1

I still really want one and am pissed that I live under a rock and had no idea and didn't pre-order one. I would have totally done "yoga" on it while eating dinner.

algunz
06-02-2008, 09:51 PM
I don't understand how the yoga would work. Your feet are supposed to move. I don't get it.

chiapet
06-02-2008, 09:58 PM
Allegedly it senses weight shifts, but it doesn't have any way to know what your arms are doing (I guess... from the reviews? The nanchuks are not used for the yoga). It's very easy to cheat.

garrett222
06-02-2008, 10:02 PM
it is easy to cheat i suppose, but its not a true game with levels, so you are interested in doing it correctly.

In the next game, Mario will have to perform yoga to rescue the princess from Bowser's rape dungeon.

My Wii Fit told me that I'm overweight. Now I'm on a mission to lose three pounds in two weeks.

My Wii Fit informed me I was overweight and to have my stomach stapled before starting any of the excercises.
Still, its easier than Splinter Cell.
