Yesssss! The article actually says "4-6 weeks" so it may be even sooner.

It also mentions a host of collaborations with other artists including Cat Power. Has Beck ever done any vocal collaborations on his albums? I can't think of any.

Is anyone else still into The Information?...it's a vastly underrated album in my opinion. The make-your-own booklet and funky full album DVD made it even better.

God, are Beck and Trent Reznor having a competition to see who releases the most albums in this half of the decade?

Cat Power will also be on this album and yes I really liked the Information. I saw Beck 4 times during the Guerro/Information era and I will be seeing him at Outside Lands.

True, but I think of the Information as something like an addendum to Guerro, which I like the best of all his albums. The last bunch of shows had within their set lists my two favorite songs, Broken Drum and Lost Cause, usually played back to back as well.

I respectfully have to disagree. Timberlake is a non-issue. His music is fun, but he hasn't really created anything good, not even behind the scenes. His music lacks depth and personality. Timbaland > White > Timberlake

Anyone know or have the album with a song about nitrous?

He sings about driving around in a car with his friends and opening the nitrous tank to have fun.....

I used to have some really old Beck albums that I lost.

Anyone know or have the album with a song about nitrous?

He sings about driving around in a car with his friends and opening the nitrous tank to have fun.....

It's called Fume off of the Loser EP. Great EP, go get it. Alcohol, Corvette Bummer and an alternate version of Soul Suckin Jerk are also included.

Fume

My friend picked me up about a quarter past five.
Stopped and got some donuts and we took a little drive.
Had a can of nitrous, we rolled the windows up.
Now we're breathing deeply, breathing deeply.
And there's a fume in this truck and I don't know if we're dead or what the fuck?
There's a fume in this truck and I don't know if we're dead or what?

Well, we spent many years always trying to get high.
Seems like there wasn't nothin' that we wouldn't try.
We made bongs out of bananas. We freebased turpentine!
We were always looking, always looking.
Now there's a fume in this truck and I don't know if we're dead or what the fuck?
There's a fume in this truck and I don't know if we're dead or what?

Well, we got a good idea, so we pulled off the road.
Got some Molly Hatchet going on the stereo.
I said, "Let's get out the nitrous and let the windows go up."
Now I can't stop laughing, can't stop laughing.
And there's a fume in this truck and I don't know if we're dead or what the fuck?
A fume in this truck and I don't know if we're dead or what? Yeah!

The only thing I enjoyed from him since the release of Midnite Vultures, was that Gameboy/8-bit remix EP before the release of Guero. The Ghettochip Malfunction (Hell Yes) 8-bit remix was fuckin awesome.

Beck is so awesome. I've only seen Beck once. It was after Guero. He came to El Paso and went to this little crappy bar. My friend called me over right away. Some people brought Beck and his band some amplifiers and they hooked up and played a free show for all of us. It was one of the coolest things ever done. I hope he does that again.

a new Beck album will be available in a matter of weeks. The Danger Mouse-produced "Modern Guilt" is due July 8 via DGC in North America and a day earlier via XL Recordings in Europe.

Last year saw Beck release a lone single, "Time Bomb," which was nominated for a Grammy in the best solo rock vocal performance category. His previous studio album, "The Information," peaked at No. 7 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 432,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Beck begins a summer tour June 25 in Hove, Norway. The trek will conclude Sept. 20 at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl, with support from Spoon and MGMT.

Here is the track list for "Modern Guilt":
"Orphans"
"Gamma Ray"
"Chemtrails"
"Modern Guilt"
"Youthless"
"Walls"
"Replica"
"Soul of a Man"
"Profanity Prayers"
"Volcano"

No, this post is not redundant — for the second time in three days, Beck trotted his new band onstage at the Echo on Wednesday night for a surprise show. With three new band members joining him and keyboardist Brian Lebarton, Beck obviously wants to work some things out before the release of his new album, the Danger Mouse-produced “Modern Guilt,” and the summer tour supporting it.

Wednesday’s musical calisthenics spanned 12 songs and 43 minutes. The players seemed more comfortable and spirited, and if the energy seemed a notch lower than Monday’s set, it was only due to the fact that the room was only about one-third full, word about the show not having leaked as it did earlier in the week.

Nobody on Wednesday’s regular bill seemed to mind that Beck crashed the party. It was the EP release show for singer-songwriter Daniel Ahearn’s “Pray for Me by Name.” Once he got started, Ahearn (a familiar face in the venue since he pays some of his bills by tending bar at the Echo) thanked the man who preceded him onstage … with a wink.

“Good local artist,” Ahearn said. “I think he’s going places.”

"First impressions: Beck's Modern Guilt
by Sean Adams
This afternoon, DiS popped over to the XL offices in Ladbroke Grove, West London, to have a listen to the new Beck album Modern Guilt, which will be released on July 7th. Artwork, pictured above and the very first press reaction to the record below...
DiS was left in a room covered in M.I.A. posters and the stereo cranked out this Danger Mouse-produced album for 33 minutes. That’s 33 minutes. Short, yes? Here’re our first impressions…
- - -
1 ‘Orphans’
Throbbing bass, cheeky skittering hand-clap riddled hip-hop drums and lush Beach Boys backing vocals courtesy of Chan Marshall, better known as Cat Power.
Random lyrics: "Fighting the fire with your bare hands... A grain of summer in your hand..."
- - -
2 ‘Gamma Ray’
Tumbling like a rolling in a barrel muddle of Television's jagged edges, shoegaze-swooping backing vocals and a little bit of that post-Beastie Boys stuff we’ve come to expect from Beck.
Random lyrics: "Come on little Gamma Ray, you're standing in a hurricane..."
- - -
3 ‘Chemtrails’
Pace drops with lots of floaty “aaahhh-ahhhhh”s from Mister Hansen and Cat Power, drifting along nicely before tumbling in a Beta Band kinda way with a waft of Flaming Lips. You’ve probably heard this one already, but if not visit myspace.com/beck. We might be wrong but this album version seems longer than what’s been on Zane Lowe’s show.
- - -
4 ‘Modern Guilt’
The title track kicks the pace back up with a Beatles-y waltz with little digital flecks and squalls rummage their way in amongst the dum-dum-DUM-dum...
Random lyrics: "I'm a pawn piece in the human geee-noo-ome…"
- - -
5 ‘Youthless’
Opens like Justin Timberlake and the bass grinds like a vanilla ‘Milkshake’ ‘til some Kraftwerk keys come dripping all over the place like the record’s about to turn into a Fabric remix album. It’s easy to imagine The Field doing an amazing remix of this.
Random lyrics: "My body can't get no relief…"
- - -
6 ‘Walls’
Sounds like a single. Somewhere between the glossy-dirty shuffling of OutKast's Stankonia and something the Police might've done.
Random lyrics: "Hey, what you gonna do, when there're bombs falling down, falling down on you..."
7 ‘Replica’
A slightly downbeat affair, but with more rapid, skittering drums. Like much of the record so far everything is cut and pasted so quick that it hits like Kid606 or Squarepusher. Think Kid A off his tits!
- - -
8 ‘Soul of A Man’
A riff romp. Imagine a supergroup of The Stones, The Roots and Queens of the Stone Age, kickin' it like Run DMC never happened.
- - -
9 ‘Profanity Prayers’
More robotic, but still with drums chasing a runaway train and big woo-doooh-oooohs giving this distorted party jam a chorus before it breaks down to acoustic guitars, before picking back up like this:
- - -
10 ‘Volcano’
No sooner has it seemed to have got started, it ends. ‘Volcano’ is a ballad, a little like a cranked-up track off of Sea Change with little static-y pips amongst the beats.
Random lyrics: "It must be illusions that keep me alive… There's a ghost in my heart, that's trying to see the dark"
- - -
In conclusion: the record does sound great, with lots going on - far too much to take in on a first listen. Beck and Danger Mouse have done themselves proud. Expect some of the sound bite reviews in music mags to call it "The Neon Album", and we imagine the record will be mashed into many new shapes and forms on The Hype Machine before too long."

I think it is one of his most creatively astounding albums in a good while. I love his last two, but "Modern Guilt" is the sound of a man deftly creating soundscapes that, while devoid of hooks or any semblance of the quasi-hip hop and electronically funky "dance-pop" he's often known for, feel vivid, free floating, occasionally scary, and just plain effortless. I think Danger Mouse's production should get at least partial credit for this, but the songwriting is definitely built around artistic ideas of the man himself, someone more focused on creating music that sounds like our surreal times than on doling out grooves that can be mindlessly cranked without giving the listener something to chew on.

I don't think JSam is gunna be able to make it, look at his show schedule, and there's something about getting his days off, although i'm not sure exactly, i'm gunna need to discuss it with him

you two will def have to talk about it, but it's still pretty exciting... I get him w/MGMT if my bad ticket juju wears off before they go on sale

one word: dad... it did sell out... Scratch the "before they sell out" I'm kind of losing my mind right now

Fuck Yeah!!

These tour dates change everything, especially since I spent the day losing a lot of momentum for ACL. If I were to go to ACL I would'nt make it to Chi-Town, and vice versa. My friend is officially outoutout, I thought I could convince her but its dead, and my other friend, while I love her to pieces she gets on my fuckign nerves, I just really do not wanna travel just the two of us, I swear I'll go nuts.

Right now I think i'm leaning towards Oct.2nd and/or 3rd

I should clarify that the loss of mind is work related and not good which is why I mistyped... but I will say there is nothing worse than going to a show with the wrong people. I really hope it works out for you & J, you guys would throw your panties and I need a picture of that!
