Well, I am choosing Lolla...

well if they were both close to me i would pick lolla. but i am from nor cal and its alot easier and affordable to go to outside lands. plus i feel the need to represent since i want this festival here for years to come and im loving the fri and sat lineups and know how amazing sf is in the summer so im there. but lolla has a great lineup. i can only afford one destination festival...

outside lands, duh. better, smaller lineup in a nicer place that won't cost me $500 to get there and back, a few bills for a hotel and food.

san fran is good because i'm taking a train up there with my bike and a backpack. probably sleep on steiner and haight or wherever that cute little park is.

I am going to Outside Lands, but I feel a little let down by the line up so far. We will see how the adds go....this will be my third major event at the GG Park, Tibetan Freedom Concert (no comparison), Dave Matthews free show (w/ Z-Trip and Santana) and now OSL. I have also been to a few of the smaller free shows in the park as well. The GG Park is awesome and I am sure that I will have fun no matter how disappointing the adds may be.

Right on, Outside Lands .I live in San D so I could drive to San Fran but where is a good affordable place to stay? It's a bummer there is no camping , thats actually one of my favorite things about Coachella.I know probably sounds crazy it being so hot & all but it's part of the whole experience, I think . I have a friend in Chicago I actually met at Coachella this year & he said we could crash at his place but I would have to fly there. Both sound pretty rad so just wanted to get some feedback especially since Coachella has the best crowd. :thu

I think the Lolla lineup kills Outside Lands....but, since I'm in Cali, Outside Lands it is

if money was not an issue (and it sounds like you are trying to minimize your costs), I would be at Lolla in a second. that line-up is insane. though that likely means the conflict of choosing one set over another will also be insane. regardless, Lolla was the first music festival I ever experienced (went to the Irvine Meadows show where Jane's Addiction, NIN, Ice T & Body Count, Souixsie, Living Colour, and Henry Rollins played) and would like to experience Lolla again. On the other hand, since I live in SF and can sleep in my own bed each night, Outside Lands it is. Like other people mentioned, GG Park is a great place to take in live music. Enjoy!

'Lolla... I can actually drive there being from Minneapolis. It's a kiler lineup, and I'm saying that know it's prety much totaly devoid of any electonic act.

Lolla for me. I would like to go to Outside Lands but 3 festivals this year is plenty great.

Lolla is also in the heart of the greatest city in the world. I'm biased though.

lolla cause I'm going...

Awesome, will you be taping?

Lolla has a better lineup than Outside... better headliners... I do wish though that Beck, Primus and Matt Nathanson were playing Lolla though.

I 'v never been to San Fran or Chicago but they both seem like crazy fun cities. Primus is going to rock, can't wait!Theres a few others for me 2 though.

Earlier someone said they would like to see Beck, me 2!
Maybe he'll be at Coachella 09?!

lolla is worth the $500+ plane ride plus ticket price. outside lands isn't worth the $200 ticket price and the bike ride it would take to get me there.

lolla is happening pending approval of time off from my boss. outside lands, I'm only going day 1. if radiohead weren't there I wouldn't go at all.

Correction. Chicago is one of the great cities in the world DURING THE SUMMER.

Chicago sucks big time in the winter. It is a major reason I jump at the chance to go to Coachella and escape the weather ;)

Seeing as I go to Grant Park on a daily basis, I mine as well sneak into Lollapalooza yet again.

If I could afford it, I would be at Lolla. Been twice before, loved the fest and the city, and the lineup this year is really solid. Outside Lands isn't bad, but it would be better if they had dropped a day, made it two days, and dropped the chaff from the lineup. There is a bunch I would like to see, but also a bunch I don't give a shit about...

Lollapalooza has a killer lineup this year. I'd love to be there, but Pitchfork is my Chicago trip, and that festival is too well run to pass up.

Ardentbiscuit
08-01-2008, 08:51 AM
Lolla's line up is the music cliche of the summer.

It's everyone that everyone has seen a thousand times.

I don't need to go to Chicago for that. I will probably go next year along with Fuji Rock and Summersonic.
