SOAD lite? Nah, thats Serj Tankian. Try Darron trying to make a heavier SOAD, but without any melody, more generic 4 chord metal and lacking any creativity whatsoever. It killed me to watch them. Darron is such a great guitarist, and none of his skills were utilized. Instead they played unispired metal while screaming about how hollywood is fucking society. We all know Darron. You don't like Hollywood. We get it. They had ONE song I somewhat liked, but it was only a small section of the song. Oh, and the other guitarist and their bassist looked like the biggest douchebags on the planet. They were trying SO hard to be "hardcore." Oh, and John (the drummer) looked bored out of his skull the entire time. AND they came on 20 minutes late.

Yeah i see what you mean, John did look bored. But i enjoyed the set, probably because i was at the barricade since EVERYONE left after Kate Nash. I was very annoyed about the 20 min late though, since i couldn't catch the end of Hot Chip. It was what i expected nothing special just some metal, which i was really in the mood for.

Bummer they couldn't even get Weezer, looks like they blew the entire budget on Metallica. There's a lot of repeats from last year like Bad Religion, Rise Against, and The Bravery. Hopefully the surprise act is good. I'll go just because it's fun and it'd be cool to see Metallica, not a huge fan but they are legendary.

So what's the deal with getting tickets for this? I'm really interested, if only for Metallica, Bad Religion and The Raconteurs. Those three alone are easily worth $60. It's kind of whack that the show is in two weeks, but you can't get tickets yet. I went to the Weenie Roast in 2000, and we got our tickets over two months in advance. Why the hell are they doing it in Irvine? Was there something wrong with Angel Stadium? Seems like they're leaving hundreds of thousands (over a million?) of dollars on the table by having it in such a small venue when this concert has sold out a stadium in the past.

I hope I get tickets too. I want to go to Weenie Roast. I've checked Ticketmaster and nothing. And the only info they provide on KROQ.com is listen to try and win tickets. I hope they send me a pre-sale email (street team).

This is going to be kinda hard for me since I don't listen to KROQ....or the radio for that matter *sigh*

Ive only been to the Acoustic Xmas... did they not usually sell the tix 2 days before?

Aaah, no, they did that on purpose to thwart scalpers. They try each year to make things ''different'' and difficult to get tickets when its Acoustic x mas. The year before you had to wait for a song to be played on the radio and when it finished, the tickets woudl go on sale, they never gave a time of course as to when the song was played. they waited 4 days to play the song. When I went in 2003 for the first time, they put the tickets on sale first, then the following day, announced the line ups for each night, so you pretty much had to get the right night or else you saw crap.(in whoevers eyes)

Thats why I mentioned before, with Weenie and L.A. Invasion, they are pretty straight up about it, cause they are bigger venues and such. But, they could be doing it this year and keep it that way since its not going on sale this weekend...

What is the difference between scalping and buying something for wholesale re-selling it? Fuck, this board must be filled with communist..

Scalping shouldn't be illegal, it's bullshit. I buy tickets along with everyone else, if someone is willing to pay twice the value of something, and I am willing to sell it, I don't see a problem. Same thing goes with prostitution. Scalping is also risky.. It is not guaranteed.. I almost lost money with Rock the Bells last year, and expecting an instant sell-out, but since they moved it to Glen Helen, it gave room to sell a lot more tickets. Luckily, TM gave me a refund because the change of the venue.

I don't have a problem with people selling the extra tickets that they already have for whatever the market will bear. I ended up with an extra ticket to the Led Zeppelin show in London last December, and the price I got for it paid for my air travel.

What I do hate are professional scalpers. The guys who hang around the entrance to sold out shows, buying up every single spare ticket, then turning around and trying to sell them for 3x what they paid.

I gained a new hatred for professional scalpers at the Atmosphere show this past Tuesday. I didn't have a ticket, so I decided I would just go anyway (five minute drive from my house) and try to buy somebody's spare. I got there just in time to see some woman handing over a ticket to this man and being handed money in exchange. It looked like the guy gave her about $40 for the ticket, which is just a little over face value.

That same guy tried to turn around and sell me the ticket for $100.

I was so angry. If I had gotten there a few minutes earlier, I could have had this woman's ticket for a decent price. But thanks to this piece of shit, I didn't get to see Atmosphere.

Still no word on tickets, huh?

This is kind of a ridiculous way to go about doing this. I didn't see anything wrong with Weenie Roast's old setup. Simply get a much bigger venue (Angel Stadium? Dodger Stadium? Staples Center?) and put the tickets up for sale way in advance. There's really no reason for a lineup with this much drawing power to be playing a venue as tiny as Irvine.

The way it's currently structured, you don't even get the lineup until two weeks in advance, and no one knows if they can go or not. Most people I know like to plan things in advance; this setup is completely not conducive to that at all.

There may only be one password for everyone. If this gets confirmed, that means that non Street Team members (and possibly non L.A. residents) could buy tickets with the password.

Thom Thom, thanks for all your help. Even if Buttspring and Shittywise suck, Metallica, The Raconteurs and Bad Religion should rock the house.

IMO, Load and Reload each had several awesome songs, and if you combined the best songs off each album, you'd have one damn good album.

Until It Sleeps, King Nothing, Hero of the Day, Bleeding Me, Fuel, The Memory Remains, The Unforgiven II, Devil's Dance are all really good, IMO. Carpe Diem Baby, Attitude, Fixxxer, Aint My Bitch and The Outlaw Torn are all pretty good, or at least passable. So with those songs, you could get something that's almost as good as The Black Album. Too much filler drags Load and Reload down.

St. Anger was pretty bad, no doubt about that, although I liked Sweet Amber and The Unnamed Feeling.

Edit: in fact, I would be disappointed if Until It Sleeps and Fuel didn't get played.

It's pretty sad seeing them make all the wrong decisions while writing St. Anger.

James is playing some sick-sounding metal riff, but they discard it because he thinks it sounds "stock."

Later, Lars plays his dad some track that sounds really cool, like it could be an interesting new direction for the band, and his dad tells him to delete it.

That album could have been a lot better.

FOR PRINT AT HOME SEATS:
$65 + $6 facility fee + 12.85 ticketmaster fee=$83.85 x 2 = $167.70 + 5.15 per order ticketmaster processing fee + 2.50 print fee = $175.35

If you were able to score tickets to Radiohead at SB Bowl than this should be no problem for you, quit being a negative nancy and be in front of a computer tomorrow at 5pm, you will be okay.

In your wet dreams. Please keep in mind, side stage..... This is more realistic... Radio shows do not cater to long sets, all it is is a showcase of what is popular in radio and buzz at the moment, they dont ever give you everything you want

The Offspring - 8:05pm - 9:05pm
Raconteurs - 7:20pm - 8:05pm

mhm, i get to LA at like noon...so i prob wont get to irvine by like 2 right? 40min of BR would be nice.... and id like at least an hour from The Offspring...but Metallica need their standard 2h+ set.

They dont get what you want, like I said. Bands dont ''need'' their 2 hours for anything, thats not how it works. You might get 90 and thats it, nothing more, this isnt a Metallica show..

Well, tickets go on sale in 15 minutes. Hopefully I'll have better luck than I did with Radiohead (though that was the SB Bowl, and I might have been off by a minute).

If I fail five minutes from now, I may be contacting you.

So what is the best way to go about it? I have timeanddate.com open right now. Right when it says 5:00, is that when I should open the Ticketmaster Weenie Roast page? And how do you get locked out?

This concert really needs to go back to a stadium. Irvine Meadows is too small, and there's no pit to speak of.

Fuck. I may have screwed up here. Is it possible to call ticketmaster and get the tickets changed from will call to printouts? It just occurred to me that I borrowed the money from my mom (on her credit card) who will not be going to this show. It says that the cardholder has to be the one to pick up the tickets from will call.

Probably could have sold that ticket for a profit. Although that would make you a bad person.
