Music or Movies/TV? If you pick music that equals no live shows or listening to music ever again on purpose. If you pick movies, it equals duh never watching another film or television show..

I NEED my music... Meh to tv/movies... although, if the question was, what would you rather be...deaf or blind....Id go with deaf...cause I dont wanna be one of those people with a dog guiding me and walking across the street and not knowing where Im going...

Music. But that would suck. Would all movies and TV have any element of music taken out of them as well? Not just soundtracks, but scores, everything?

music non-stop. but what about subtitles flicks? Those are the best. I hate American BB shit.

BB? Blockbuster, you mean? I'm with you on that, but if there's one medium the US has definitely owned since its inception its film. Curious though--what are all the foreign subtitled flicks you love so dearly?

(sorry, I can't help but quiz people who claim they mostly like foreign films.)

cool. I'm glad you like em' too... what I've been doing for years is going to my local Library and taking all the good shit(for free). a lot of "Film Movement" etc...releases or whatever looks good. I enjoy everything way more then some BB movie. Give me a few and I will tell you the one I love so dearly... It's easy to get them mixed up.The last flick was "People other Lives" -true story but I got that one on demand... tell me what you like/

Oh, I'm not saying there isn't great foreign film--not at all. Just that most people I hear talk about how they really prefer foreign films to American overall are usually... um... full of shit.

You always play the "no, you tell me what you like" game, Jazzz. I'm just curious, that's all. Last girl who said that and I asked her was able to come up with, "Oh... you know... like Amelie." It was really pathetic. She left shortly after the mocking that ensued. I'm sure you actually do watch some, but you never ever seem to offer your opinions on anything.

I can understand that... but I really enjoy'em. maybe cos' I grew up on the Bandit or Hooper? I do like and collect Jarmusch movies. Some of the foreign flicks that come to mind
Hawaii, Oslo
Man of the year
The Ticket
Le Grand Voyage
Campfire
I think it would be cool if we had a thread dedicated to foreign flicks.. do we? I will research some of my faves's and name em' let me know your faves

Mine are nothing terribly impressive or unusual. Lots of UK flicks but they're all speaking more or less English--the fucking Scots really blur the line sometimes, but once I'd watched Trainspotting about 40 times I had their accents down so cold I love catching anything taking place in Scotland. I'm really digging the few pieces of Brazilian neo-noir coming out in the wake of City of God--it's a whole other level of crime story going on, and Carandiru was a more interesting depiction of a prison than any American film I can think of. Aside from that it's just the classics that every film buff has to give the nod to--the birth of noir from France, Italian westerns... Bergman doesn't do much for me, really. Not much else I've ever really held up in high esteem that had subtitles, frankly. Actually I suppose I stumble across some interesting foreign language flicks, but only a few have ever made a particularly big impression.

Frankly, I'm dropping off in my film buffness in recent years. I barely even go to the movies anymore. Writing them has made me tired of watching them or something, and subtitles ARE distracting, though that by no means implies that I'll ever refuse to watch something just because it's subtitled. But I need some kind of serious justification to think it's worth the effort of watching, and nowadays it takes A LOT just to get me to put forth the effort to watch an English flick. Damn shame.

fucking City of God was a favorite.. I love S.American flicks but that one had me thinkin' for a couple days after..... I'm not a screen writer but I'd love to put my comedy sketches' together someday....I really think Benny Hill is a genius. I think he was one of the greatest.

City of God is tied for the third best movie of all time. If I spoke Portugese it might very well be even higher.

Um... Benny Hill? Okay, well... WHAT?! The dude who ended every episode running around being chased by a cop with chicks in their underwear somehow getting involved? You're into Benny Hill?

I read this late. I don't mean to come off this way at all. If I ever reply to something It means I feel very strongly about it. Music is my life but I'm not saying I' know it all(just the good shit) I heard you say your a writer so I was just asking you what you like. I share your humor many times.

I wasn't expecting you to be like that girl--she was really, really just exceptionally full of shit. It was hysterical. But that's a severe case.

I was more making reference to that week-long argument about EDM where you refused to name any act you like besides Pan-Sonic while constantly telling me to come up with more/better names. The "you go first" thing always seems a little suspect. =)

I can't decide I mean I could easily give up tv besides maybe animal planet. My love for movies and music are just about equal, I guess I'd give up movies though cause with good drugs and music I can watch my own movies.

Im keeping my MUZAK.

There is no substitute for music, while there is the option of reading instead of movies/tv.

Few years ago, I would have given up music no question, but lately I just don't seem to have the attention span for a whole movie, never mind a TV show. Older I get, the more I get into music in a big way. Yeah, music FTW.

this is difficult....as of now, the obvious choice for me is giving up TV/movies because music and going to shows is such a huge part of my life....but thinking ahead to when I'm 70 (World War III should render this argument pointless eventually) ...and I have no interest in live shows, and will have much, much, much more time to kill(no I'm not planning a life as a septuagenarian serial killer) it seems like TV may play a much larger role in life at that point...
