Which is your favorite place to see an outdoor show ?

1. LA Greek
2. Chula Vista
3. Hollywood Bowl
4. Berkeley Greek
5. SPAC
6. Tweeter Center
7. Shoreline Amp.
8. Alpine Valley
9. Santa Barbara Bowl
10. DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan

I intentionally left off the Gorge and Red Rocks because we all know they reign supreme.

Edit:

FAIL FAIL FAIL

It never gave me the option of creating the POLL, how do I go about doing this ?

coors in chula vista and shoreline are like the same place. I actually like seeing shows at both, but they are no where near the best.

I would love to go to that but that 3 tier deal is fucking lame.

ya, i didnt see a poll ... been to about half those places, shoreline maybe 15 times and it sucks big time unless you get the first section which i have only got a handfull of times ... guess i will go for the hollywood bowl only cuz i saw the opening of dark side with floyd .. but although you made it not part of the poll, i live about 30 mins from red rocks .... and first show there was the beatles like many of you know and want me to stfu, but its home and i am very proud of that venue and the times i have spent there ... me and my gal went there one day, went down to the stage, and sang, now while i bet a zillion other peeps did that, it was special .... x****

I really, really dislike the LA Greek. The sound there is so damn shitty, the parking is horrendous, and the seating situation is nowhere near as good as the Berkeley Greek. The Hollywood bowl is fantastic though.

I've not yet been. I'm thinking that next time Radiohead plays out there, I may make the trip. It definitely looks to be worth it.

I wonder if they ever play Red Rocks again, maybe in 3 years.

John Anson Ford Ampitheater is nice, it's not great, but a cool place when they occasionally do shows.

Oh, I love the John Anson Ford. I saw Zero 7 and Rodrigo y Gabriela there. I thought it was a GREAT venue.

I saw Rod y Gab there and it was really cool. I liked the location and the look of it. The downside is that they don't do much of anything there.

SPAC = Is a beautiful venue, but your view is almost completely obscured by the elevated section of seats above the pavilion.

Alpine Valley = The place is huge and the sound is okay.

Shoreline = I saw my first ever show there in '95, so there is some sentimental value there, but it kinda sucks.

Tweeter Center = Nice place, a smaller seated venue where if you have an out of state ID you need to show another form of ID in addition to a driver's license.

Berkeley Greek = AWESOME venue in the Oakland/Berkeley hills with a view of the Bay Area from the top.

The only venue that I have been to in the LA area is Irvine Meadows and I thought that it was pretty cool.

Berkeley Greek is an absolutely fantastic place to see a show, especially when the fog rolls in.

Shoreline is not just awful, but also just like any number of amphitheaters in the US. Reminded me a ton of Nissan Pavilion in DC, which is just a touch suckier.

Wolf Trap in DC, though, is awesome sauce.

Yes indeedy, Thom even commented on it in '06.

from that list, ive only been to these:

LA Greek
Chula Vista
Hollywood Bowl
Santa Barbara Bowl

and i would say the SB bowl is by far the best. i also like SDSU Open Air Theatre, which was not on the list. Both of those are great because of the small size. Also, SD Embarcadero was great because of the beautiful scenery, even though its not really a venue anymore (R.I.P.).

I would like to check out the Berkeley Greek. I also really need to make it to Red Rocks one of these days. I think if Radiohead or Pearl Jam plays there i might have to make the trip.

Wheres the beef?

Berkeley Greek is my favorite outdoor venue at home (though there isn't much to choose from). Easy to get to, great sound, great sightlines, fog, view, etc.

Empire Polo Fields?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe the Polo Fields were assumed like The Gorge and Red Rocks.

Empire Polo Fields isn't really a venue. They just happen to host one of the greatest festivals there.
