change it.

Set to really mediocre music.

The Moby album is great. It's not that much like "Play" - less ambient, more dancey. If anything, I'd liken it to U2's "Pop" - a somewhat chronological evocation of a party night, and the hangover that follows. It should be noted here that I think "Pop" is one of the most underrated records on the planet.

I'm also a sucker for pretty much everything Moby's done, so take that into account.

Well being that over the past couple of years Moby has leaned a bit more towards the dance scene I was kind of expecting something a bit more dancey than Play and although I thoroughly enjoyed Play I always felt it was missing something, maybe that something was a bit more dance? Either way I need to give it a listen before I pick it up.

Oh and for anybody who has not picked it up... The new Black Keys album is fucking fantastic.

I'm hesitant to embrace Moby's renewed commitment to dance music, because it almost certainly means that his live appearances for this record will be as a DJ and not as the phenomenal rock star I saw at Area: One. But the album itself is terrific.

Really? His live performances have been more "live rock star" than DJ since the mid-90s. I mean, sure, it's a continuum but I don't figure on much of a shift, even.

I watch a few songs of the HAARP dvd last night. I'm really impressed. good lvie dvds are hard to pull off, but this one seems very well done. (albeit short on the bonus materials... music videos, anyone?)

gotta go listen to the black keys album now. when are they in SF? tonight? dang.
