is is an 8 x 8 space per person camping even if you are sharing a tent?

it's just going to be me and my boyfriend and i have an 8 x 10 tent but i bought an 8 x 8 one from costco just in case and i would much rather use the 8 x 10 one if i could because:
1. it's bigger (obvious benefit)
2. it has more mesh, which means more airflow

i don't mean to sound redundant to anyone but i wasn't clear on this after reading the other threads.

thanks.

Shouldn't each person with a camping ticket get 8'X8' all to themselves? I think you should get 8'X16' if you're camping together.

Yes, you'll have an 8 x 16 space, so you're fine.

The problem is if you have something that's more than 8 feet in BOTH directions. You're going to be into someone else's space in that scenario.

Is this what you have? I only ask because I haven't seen many 8 x 10 tents, and this one is really meshy too.

no, the one i have is called a coleman sundome.
it actually does not have as much mesh as the one in your picture, although it would be nice. the door is pretty much the same though.
