My wife and I actually left during Eddie Izzard's show in San Francisco, needless to say we were not impressed.

I'm not a fan of The Riches, but Eddie has to be one of the 5 best comics in the world. Your statement is clearly the ramblings of an insane person. I've never had a chance to see him live, and hearing that someone actually wasted that chance enrages me.

Er, I mean, "Well, everyone's got different tastes, I guess."

I'm enraged as well.....clearly severely deranged

We gave him 40 minutes from our lives and $120 from our pockets.

He was self-serving, heavy handed and his transitions were god awful.

His cameo in Across the Universe was fun stuff, but I could see how his stand-up could be tedious.

Later in the evening we ran into to some of his more die hard fans and they enjoyed the show, but it was also their first time seeing him so that may have something to do with their perception of the show.

I caught his latest show and thought it was hilarious. But his show is very anti-religion. So I guess if you are very religious person you may be offended. But my friend who is religious also thought it was funny. So it may just be a matter of taste. The only downside was that I wish he had done it in full drag.

Nope, I'm not religious in the least and neither is my wife. We didn't like it for the previously stated reasons: He was self-serving, heavy handed and his transitions were god awful.

I've seen numerous comedy routines by the likes of the Kids in the Hall (twice), Dave Chappelle, Patton Oswalt and several mid-level comedians performing in SF and NYC and I was not impressed in the least by Eddie.

Side note: I saw the Kids in the Hall perform their first show in a number of years at the SF Sketch Fest this January and it was hilarious. Not only did they perform their classics, but they also included new material. Look for their tour coming this spring.

It's on in about 5 minutes.

Do you care?

The reason why his transitions aren't transitions at all is because he doesn't script his performances (due to dyslexia), he basically thinks aloud and that's the genius of Eddie Izzard. I hope I have the chance to see him live.

So does Robin Williams and he's actually funny.

Edit:

I have now seen Robin Williams, general admission at SF's Bimbo's no less, it wasn't scripted and it was hilariously funny and current.

my boss' husband produced the Riches web spots that aired over the winter. He said Izzard almost made him pee his pants from laughing.

any show that has cross-dressing is okay in my book.
last night's drag party scene was great.

Agreed - the party was great, the rest seemed a little cliche and a bit melodramatic.
