Wheres the beef?
03-17-2008, 08:09 PM
How are we supposed to find out more about the box set when the details are on the box?

Anyone interested in purchasing?

So does that mean theres already gonna be a video for WE CARRY ON of some sort as well? Cool.

Also, should we be excited for a MACHINE GUN video? or not get our hopes up...
Teaming up with Chris Cunningham again would have been sweet, but eh.

It's grown on me from first listen.
I guess I'm so used to the first 2 albums obvious-vinyl sampling sounds and immediate catchiness of the songs that it took a bit to warm up to this new sound of theirs.

Machine Gun, We Carry On, Silence, and Small are all on-repeat for me!

Machine Gun is a bit repetitive, but once it gets to that old horror movie-esque synth, its a big pay-off :)

And also, I was JUST listening again to Nylon Smile...man, it's like..so deep...

where are you guys listening to it?

There are torrents floating around.
From what I read at this forum, it appears to be a slightly unmastered copy..some songs cut off or go on too long and vocals are too low and music is too high or too low.
Hopefully the final cut will improve on some of these technical faults.

Nylon Smile is my favorite thus far, though I have no idea about a box set. It's an NME story why do people still take them as the truth?

hm. I didn't realize this had leaked. I figured people would make more nosie about it if it had.

I'm kind of pissed that the box set does not include the actual cd.

$80 for the box set? Well it's a lot more bang for buck than the In Rainbows box.

Oh wait, I guess the In Rainbows box still wins since it had the disc of exclusive songs. The vinyl really should have been the album on one record, and the bonus songs on the second. I want "Reckoner" on vinyl, damnit!

Why? What about the CD do you want? Download a FLAC and burn it.

I'm a stickler when it comes to having the actual physical cd of every album I own. I'll just buy that when it is actually released here in the States and purchase the actual box set now... Sorry for the whining, I was starting to sound like Boourns or Amy for a second there. Knob Creek here I come.

thanks. i think this is how they should release albums in general.

as a vinyl with a usb plug to get the mp3s. THAT i would buy.

however i must agree that this is a bit disappointing for 80 bucks

mmm, knob creek sounds good right now.

I can understand that. I've abandoned CDs simply because they don't offer me any quality that I can't get from Lossless downloads (so I'll buy them on occasion if there is a really nifty DVD or the art really matters and can't be found on the LP). LPs are always a treat because there definitely is a difference there (especially if it's mastered for vinyl, which unfortunately is rare).

uh so i dont know how many of you have the leak. but im watching the video for it and the mix as well as the speed (bpms) of machine gun. is ENTIRELY different.

edit:

or maybe its just me. does anyone else feel like its faster?

2nd edit: i think what i have is demos. cuz this is pretty much completely different in terms of the drum tweaks and the keyboard tone. weird. cool.

any word on the bit rate for the mp3 files? im assuming variable, that fucking sucks.

That's not true at all. Just another person buying into the RIAA fear mongering... All of my friends by Records, but music online, and some CDs. Most buy shit at shows because they know they are supporting the artist.

is it really limited to 10,000 like pitchfork claim? I wonder how quickly those will sell.

we don't get quite as much as we did with the radiohead box set, same price though. but damn, I don't think I can resist.

looks like we get an audio download as well. if you place one in your basket you get this message:

IMPORTANT: If you order includes an audio download; This download is in a DRM protected WMA format. Please check your machine for compatibility with this download. Click here for more information on compatibility and download instructions.

wtf? did they not get the memo that drm sucks?

Boourns
03-18-2008, 12:54 PM
Guess not. Nobody buys DRM protected WMA format anymore.

pirate bay torrent link

so the torrent link contains the album, along with several scams. something to do with poker, I don't know, I removed it all. I'm pretty much invulnerable to their crap anyway since I'm not on windows. how low though.

to clarify, I'm not blaming this on faxman. and I removed the torrent link to save pf 30 seconds, because you know she will get around to it soon.

ah, I don't think they were viruses or anything that would install automatically. as long as you delete the non-mp3 files right away I'm sure there's no harm. you just have to be smart enough to realize that the rest of the junk is trouble.

JUST heard the new song on their myspace, i'm thoroughly digging it to the extreme, that beat is so sick, it was made for drugs
