View Full Version : Guessing the set times - SUNDAY

I have no life (except for 3 days every April) and decided to put this together for us. Looking forward to discussing this with you all. Look it over and let us know what you think! Definitely need input from everyone to get our best guess.

Obviously there are no TIMES in there because that would be impossible to guess, but just looking at the stage and the order. Also looking at avoiding major conflicts.

UPDATED: 3/19 @ 7 PM

Streets out; Field into Sahara; Modeselektor closing Sahara as Mikey thinks will happen :( ; and a couple other re-arrangements

Gogol would not close the main stage. If Roger Water ends early, no one will play after him. Gogol, im guessing, are going to play the Outdoor theatre around 7-8. Also, Holy Fuck are definately a day time Mojave/Gobi act. Not a closing act.
Also, according to various sources, Goldfrapp are playing Friday. As well, switch I'm From Barcelona and The Streets around. And where ever you put Gogol and Justice, don't have them conflicting. Because they aren't going to. GV would have to be retarded in order to do that.

PassiveTheory
03-15-2008, 10:21 PM
Yeah, no kidding Rage.

1. Goldfrapp's on Friday, sorry.
2. No one will be playing after Roger Waters
3. No way in hell will Gogol and Justice conflict, or with RW.

So, that being said...

1. Move Roger up into the 9:30pm/9:45pm to Midnight range
2. Move Love and Rockets into that newly opened up slot (an hour before RW and after MMJ)
3. Only two other stages will be open during RW, max. So remove Spiritualized and Holy Fuck from the top
4. Move all the OT acts down a timeslot (it will open early that day) starting with SOLs at noon.
5. Spiritualized and Holy Fuck will conflict and play during Love and Rockets' set, all before RW (remaining on their original stages)
6. Gogol Bordello will play during Linton Kwesi Johnson's slot. Linton will play the Streets' slot on the OT, The Streets will headline the Gobi (remove Austin TV and move Murs down a slot).
7. Bump Plasticines down and move Austin TV into their slot.
8. Move the Cool Kids down two slots and move Chromeo and Sia up a slot, each

There you have it.

clumsy342

I agree.. hahha

No one's gonna play after Roger Waters.
Holy Fuck won't close, but I see them in the Mojave/Gobi 'round late afternoon/early night.

Brochella
03-15-2008, 10:24 PM
Among other things:

-Murs will probably play on the main stage earlier in the day
-Goldfrapp will probably play on the outdoor stage
-Justice/SMD may be the true headliners for the Sahara that night, but GV would be pretty stupid to put them up against Roger Waters. I'm gonna guess that Danny Tenaglia will get stuck with that timeslot.

...and the more I think about it, Aphex on Sunday before Roger Waters on the main stage makes a ton of sense.

The Streets are way to big to play the Gobi as much as i fucking hate him they will probably be on the outdoor theatre.

Okay, I don't know where to begin.
1. If Metric and Roger Waters conflict, I'm rioting.
2. Spiritualized vs Justice vs Gogol Bordello = brutal. But then again, last year we got Bjork vs DJ Shadow vs Gogol and Travis vs New Pornos vs PB&J vs MSTRKRFT...
3. Love and Rockets will be main before Roger Waters. No reunion has ever been on the outdoor.
4. I'd be missing almost every act I want to see and only getting to catch about 3 full sets I actually want to catch.

- Gogol Bordello not closing, and probably on Outdoor Stage (especially not against the headliner, like they were against Bjork last year)
- Autolux on the main stage early on in the day or Mojave later on
- I'm from Barcelona in the Mojave or Gobi
- Love and Rockets on the Main Stage
- The Streets on the Main Stage
- Goldfrapp on the Outdoor Stage
- Sia on the Main Stage early on in the day, or Outdoor Stage later in the day
- Holy Fuck in the Gobi
- Black Mountain on the Outdoor Stage

Definitely the hardest part about arranging this is that Roger Waters is playing a long set and it would be horrible to put ANYONE against him. Unfortunately, I think it's unavoidable. If he plays the 9:30-12 slot to close out the festival...who would be closing out the other stages and would they go until 12?

PierogiHead, Sia will definitely be Gobi or Mojave.

PierogiHead, Sia will definitely be Gobi or Mojave.

Agreed. But I think she'll probably start with this:
pBo8hZH3HeI

..which makes me think she'll play the Gobi at night.

By the way, I keep switching back and forth between 'Im so indie' (my brother) and my screen name. But we are both discussing and editing the times.

I'm updating as we speak.

What do you think the Main stage will look like?

Roger Waters
My Morning Jacket
Love and Rockets
Gogol Bordello
The Streets
..and??

But I think that's pretty good so far, right?

That'd be cool. My Morning Jacket on the main stage at sunset, then Rockets, then Waters.

Sounds about right. I dunno what else, though. A token hip hop act to start out the day, for sure, but besides that...?

I think they will have Roger Waters basically by himself. If there are other acts playing at the same time they will be small. Not Justice, Simian Mobile Disco or Metric.

Yeah.. haven't finished updating it yet. but its looking like:

Waters
Love and Rockets
MMJ
Gogol
the Streets
etc...

By the way.. how many people would be upset with a Gogol and Justice conflict? I really doubt most people will care.

bballarl
03-16-2008, 06:22 PM
I would bet that Holy Fuck will be in the Gobi, maybe around Girl Talk time from last year. I also think the Streets will be Outdoor Theater or Mojave rather than the Coachella Stage.

I highly doubt Linton Kwesi Johnson and Gogol Bordello wil conflict. They aren't the same style of music or anything, but both acts roots are in world music, and due to the lack of world music at Coachlla this year, I really don't think GV will make them conflict.
Also, I think Gogol will be on the outdoor theatre, and Linton will be in the Mojave.

03-17-2008, 06:03 PM
The way it is now seems so awkward. This day is hell to organize, even though it has the fewest acts. I still have a gut feeling that Waters won't be ending the night, but will finish up around 10:40 and give every stage a last hurrah where we can choose from all the closing acts for each stage. Could create massive conflicts for personal reasons, but not overlapping styles.

Boourns
03-18-2008, 01:44 AM
I think Roger Waters will, in fact, close out the night. There's no way that Love & Rockets will perform in the daytime or after Roger Waters, and one of those would be inevitable if Waters didn't close out the night.

I'm guessing Roger Waters at 9:30/10-12:00, with Love & Rockets right before.

I'd estimate for main:
??? 12:20-1:10
??? 1:30-2:20
Shout Out Louds 2:45-3:35
Gogol Bordello 4:00-4:50
The Streets 5:15-6:05
My Morning Jacket 6:30-7:20
Love and Rockets 7:45-8:45
Roger Waters 9:30-12:00

With the dance tent like so:
Simian Mobile Disco 7:00-8:00
Justice 8:15-9:15

And Spiritualized on the Outdoor at sunset or during that gap between L&R and Roger Waters.

Roger Waters will close out the Main, but end around 10:50-11:00ish. His set will probably overlap ten minuets or so into Justice and whoever is playing the other stage/tents.

Fortunately/unfortunately I'm not into Pink Floyd..or rather, haven't been exposed to their work enough to care...I mean, I'd see Roger Waters but I mean..He will prolly conflict with Justice or possibly Aphex...

I'll head over to the main stage if Justice finishes before Roger is done, but he's not on my list of priorities on sunday.

Just updated...major conflicts now are MMJ/Metric and Spiritualized/Justice, but it is set up so that Waters pretty much owns the last 2.5 hours. Booka Shade will get a long set to close out the Sahara and Spiritualized will play a nice evening set before Waters starts out. What's everyone think of this?

GOgol before Spiritualized?... Weird, Rage.

As Kevin Bronson said, Gogol will definately be getting an earlier slot this year because, even though so few people say Gogol, they were one of the most raved about sets of 07. Now they are giving everyone a second chance. So I say 6:30 on the Outdoor theatre would be prime time for them.

Looks alright Gulnnie -

But I saw the Streets aren't playing any more so that opens up the main stage quite a bit.

I don't really see Sia on the main stage, but eh.. whatever. Someone's gotta be there.

Also.. I forsee ModeSKELETOR closing the night in the Sahara.
