Man, people are bitchy today. It's a duplicate thread, get over it, I had no idea.

Apparently some others haven't seen it and I didn't see a thread for it. Sorry a duplicate thread puts your panties in a bunch. It's hardly a big deal. Maybe you should get to work crying about the 500 radiohead threads as well.

That's what I was wondering. I heard they were going too but saw nothing official.

I have no issue with the duplicate thread. Why the hell would you even post this? That lineup is abysmal, and it will inevitably lead to people insulting it, and, by proxy, you. If you put something up like that, you have to expect negative reactions. Seriously, Flyleaf? Kid Rock? Disturbed? 3 Doors Down? I doubt anybody here would be interested in this.

Oh, so now you want to discuss it? STP would be an event, Filter is decent and Kid Rock puts on a good "show".

Other than that, I agree it sucks.

remember, the lineup isnt trying to please the kinda audience Coachella gets.... this is going for peeps who are into that hard rock, nu metal stuff.... its an excellent lineup if you are into that kinda music.... Just like Stagecoach is prob an excellent lineup if you're into Country and whatnot

STP was one of the 10 best bands of the 90s. 12 Gracious Melodies (fuck calling it Purple, that's bullshit) is a pretty much perfect album.

The rest of this should have its fucking face cut.

your reply sounded bitchier than my original post, you're obviously the one with their panites in a bunch.

the difference between this festival and radiohead is that radiohead deserves 500 threads

STP is awesome, but the fact that they are playing their first show back together at this festival isn't, would be awesome if they were booked for Outside Lands though

Ok so I ended up going. HEY - IT WAS FREE - 10 minutes away, blah blah blah, anyway I had free VIP passes with free food and what not and had NOTHING better to do. So I went, if not just to see Scott Weiland and company, and maybe Filter.

Here's my quick report on it.

1. Makes me miss Coachella.

2. 99% of the bands are crap, this point hammered home in a live setting. Those who I wasn't familar with - I soon figured out why - I like decent stuff most of the time.

3. Filter were pretty good (except that new song they did is really bad)

4. I would guess a good third of the crowd left before STP came on, The Killswitch Engage and Disturbed crowd just couldn't handle STP's apparent minor songwriting skill... or something? I don't know, weird.

5. There at one point was a USA chant U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A... and no I am not kidding, I took video, I will upload later. I still can't believe it happened.

6. Surveying the crowd, I wondered what percentage of girls were there (not many) and how many in attendance were unemployed (a very high percentage)

7. It is easy to bash this fest, but for the most part it looked like people got their $50 worth, and the weather turned beautiful, about 70 degrees the whole time we were there (6-11pm)

8. STP sounded pretty good, the main stage soundsystem was a bit muffled and lacking, having witnessed them playing, their smaller tour should be good. They play a lot of different stuff and ALL the hits. Everything from Sex Type Thing to Interstate Love Song to Sour Girl. The latter is one thing that prompted a ton of headbangers to head for the exits. I will say even though they sounded pretty good - their electronic screen behind them was SUPER CHEESY. Too many spirals, too many checkered board patterns, and lava lamp inspired graphics, waste of money and electricity if you ask me.

9. I f I had to guess, I would say they had about 25-30,000 in attendance, pretty good turnout for the promoters I would think?

10. $4 dollar water - HA!

Needless to say as I was leaving, I handed the DAY 2 pass I had in my pocket, to someone (not a scalper) looking for a ticket. He was thrilled as if it was Christmas. God bless the little guy and his multiple face piercings, and god bless the U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A.

I wouldn't have minded this festival. Not too much. I would have loved to see Stone Temple Pilots and Filter. I probably would have checked out Staind and Disturbed too. For my Middle School year's sake. I don't know what the hell else I would have done when those bands were not playing though. I bet the crowd was horrible too.

C DUB YA
05-18-2008, 11:56 AM
yeah - like i said worrth it for the price of free - so seeing that it didn't cost me anything but a few hours, I ain't gonna complain too much - it was worth it for STP and Filter, but there was no way I'd pay for it.

The crowd was rough in every way.

C DUB YA

Main Stage crowd at 6pm (I think Killswitch or Staind was on), I really just walked in the stadium to take the picture below. I'd rather shoot myself in the face than listen to either one of those bands.

The crowd got a great deal bigger for Disturbed, but then went back down to about this size (slightly more) by the time STP came on.
